Margaret M. Remaley, 90, of Scottdale, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born Jan. 15, 1909, in Everson, a daughter of the late Emanuel and Barbara Malik. She was a member of the Everson Evangelical Church of North America. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Remaley, in 1987; six brothers, Albert, Benjamin, John, Andrew, Peter and Emanuel Malik; and two sisters, Mary Walls and Martha Sofranko. She is survived by her loving family; a daughter, Barbara A. Kight of New Stanton; and two grandsons, Douglas Kight and Kevin Kight. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the MURPHY-CARUSO MEMORIAL HOME, 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, where services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Robert B. Patton officiating. Interment in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
Eugene Hoyman, 66, of Mammoth, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Carpentertown, a son of the late William E. and Sarah P. (Anthony) Hoyman. Prior to retirement, he worked at L.E. Smith Glass, Mt. Pleasant. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served with the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah A. (Wilson) Hoyman; his second wife, Frances (Jones) Baker; an infant daughter, Donna Darlene Hoyman; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David (Kathryn) Miller of Texas, and Joyce Jean Hoyman of Ohio; a son, Eugene M. Hoyman and wife, Kimberly, of Manor; a stepson, Daryl Baker and wife, Linda, of Grapeville; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Catherine Jordan of Mt. Pleasant. Friends will be received at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Pleasant Unity, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Private interment
in Fairview Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township.
Charles M. Sopko, 70, of Blairsville, formerly of Loyalhanna, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Latrobe, a son of the late Andrew M. and Helen (Sagan) Sopko. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the former Vanadium Alloy Steel Co. in Latrobe. He was a member of the St. Rose Roman Catholic Church and the F.O.E. Aerie #01188 in Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Sopko; and a sister, Dorothy A. Sopko Donahue. He is survived by two sisters, Mary H. Billings and Catherine J. Sopko, both of Arlington, Va.; a nephew, Eric Peterson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two nieces, Valerie Coon of Phoenix, Ariz., and Joan Harrison and her husband, Donald, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a great-nephew, Eric Harrison; a great-niece, Lindsay Ferguson; and several aunts and uncles, including his uncle, Edward G. Sagan of Latrobe. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the St. Rose Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. William Donahue as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Latrobe. Members of F.O.E. Aerie #01188 will hold services Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Roy Banker Stupakoff, of Greensburg, beloved brother of Nancy Stupakoff Robbins, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000. Roy was born June 8, 1938, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Semon H. and Martha (Banker) Stupakoff. Roy was a member of the New Stanton Assembly of God Church. He was a 1958 graduate of the St. Vincent Prep School in Latrobe, and was most recently employed by Latronics Corporation in Latrobe. He also diligently served for Carborundum and Stupakoff Ceramic and Manufacturing Co. throughout his business career and was an avid cyclist. He leaves a lasting legacy of humor and love to his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Semon Stupakoff. He is survived by his beloved sister, Nancy Stupakoff Robbins of Greensburg; two nieces, Nanci R. DePasquale and her husband, Sam, of Greensburg and Lynn S. Smolka and her husband, Joel, of California; a nephew, James Stupakoff Robbins and his wife, Kate, of Greensburg; loyal friend, Bobbie Coppersmith; and eight great-nieces and -nephews, Dan, Michael, Molly, Julia, Maggie, Lauren, Charlie and Meghan. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the New Stanton Assembly of God Church with his pastor, the Rev. Robert S. Fisher, officiating. Interment will follow in Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
Evelyn M. Deihl, 73, of Hunker, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Henry and Viola Graff Lach. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Deihl. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngwood, and had retired from the National Bank of the Commonwealth, New Stanton. She was a past guardian of Jobes Daughters, a founder of the Hunker Lioness Club, a member and past president of the Hunker Women's Club, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her husband, Luther Deihl; three children, Robert W. Deihl and wife, Carol, of Greensburg, Patricia Gardner of Napa, Calif., and Karl D. Deihl and wife, Joyce, of Hunker RD1; seven grandchildren, Julie Williams, Jennifer Deihl, Erin Deihl, Christopher Gardner, Gena Deihl, Stacie Deihl and Eric Deihl; and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Williams. Friends will be received Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis J. Hoffman officiating. Interment Southside Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Samuel J. Duvall, 82, of Greensburg RD9, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in the Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. He was born June 24, 1917, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Charles and Ida Ora Clark Duvall. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Papercraft Corp. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the American Legion Post 344 of Jeannette. He is survived by his wife, Hilda Zvara; two sons, Brian C. and his wife, Dianne Duvall, of Penn and Mark David Duvall; a stepson, Sonny Zvara of Greensburg RD9; two daughters, Karen Duvall and Mary Rita Brown; three grandchildren; a brother, Harry P. Duvall of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Hans O. Andrae officiating. Interment with military rites will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. The Jeannette Combined Veterans will meet Monday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Shirley L. Isenberg, 66, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, in the St. Anne Home, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 3, 1934, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Woodrow and Leona Musati Whigham. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles R. Isenberg; a grandson, Brian R. Hopper; and a brother, Kenneth Whigham. She is survived by seven children, Sandy Chulack and her husband, Dennis, of Moon Township, Charles Isenberg and his wife, Judy, of Delmont, Denise Gaskill and her husband, Stan, of Delmont, Eileen Hopper and her husband, Foster, of Greensburg, Kenneth Isenberg and his wife, Laura, of Greensburg, Keith Isenberg and his wife, Cherri, of Forbes Road and Yvonne Doerfler of Washington, Pa.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Whigham and his wife, Shirley, of Pittsburgh and William Whigham and his wife, Roberta, of Plum Borough. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Henry T. Taliercio officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
Henry A. Jenca, 87, of Jeannette, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, in Briarcliff Pavilion, North Huntingdon. He was born June 11, 1912, in Lawrenceville, a son of the late John and Mary Solcany Jenca. Prior to retirement, he was employed by West Penn Power. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Jenca; and a sister, Mary Andreskovich. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pauline Draftina Jenca; a son, Richard and his wife, Karen Jenca, of Greensburg; a daughter, Carol Ann Jenca and her husband, Eric P. Kachele, of Berwyn; two grandchildren, Matthew R. and Emily K. Jenca; a brother-in-law, Matthew Draftina and his wife, Bridgette, of Boquet; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
Robert E. Knupp, 86, of New Florence, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at home. Born July 27, 1913, in Fairfield, he was a son of Harry and Alice (McBurney) Knupp. Preceded in death by parents; his wife, Allegra E. (Kestner); and infant brother. Survived by sons, Gary L., married to Michelle, of North Dakota and Burl Knupp of New Florence; daughter, Aleta, wife of Greg King, of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Christina (Knupp), wife of John Johnson, Michael Knupp, Laura (Knupp), wife of Mike Rolley, Barbara Knupp, Carrie Knupp, Robert Marcum, married to Jill, Erin Marcum, and Jennifer King; great-grandchildren, Samantha and Christopher Johnson and Emma Reigh Marcum; brother of Marie Kuhns of Latrobe; and brother-in-law of Terry Cook of Jeannette/Greensburg. Robert served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and retired from Bethlehem Steel. He enjoyed going on cruises and he traveled to all 50 of the United States. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Robert enjoyed taking long walks through his neighborhood and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, at the STUART FUNERAL HOME, New Florence. Interment United Presbyterian Cemetery, located at Antiochian Village, Fairfield.
Effie Jane Prytherch, 90, of Irwin, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born March 27, 1909, in Delmont, a daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Tarr Martin. Effie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Irwin and the Happy Methodists of Irwin. She was a graduate of the former Youngwood High School. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Murphy's Five-and-Dime and also by Woolworths. She is survived by a son, Martin R. Prytherch of Irwin; three daughters, Dorothy Devroude of The Trees, Texas, Marion Kappler and her husband, Bill, of Surprise, Ariz., and the Rev. Leah Bergstrom and her husband, Robert, of Allison Park; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dora Zaronsky of Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Prytherch Sr.; a son, Benjamin Prytherch Jr.; six brothers, James, Paul, Cap, Charles, Frank and John Martin; and a sister, Elizabeth Martin. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 310 Oak St., Irwin, where her funeral services will be held with the Rev. Frank Sherman officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery at Tarrs.
