William A. Vizza, 82, of Westmoreland Street, North Belle Vernon, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at 3:15 a.m., in the Residence at Hilltop, Carroll Township. A son of the late Vincenzo and Josephine Clausi Vizza, he was born in North Belle Vernon on Dec. 2, 1917. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon, a 63-year life member and past assistant chief and president of the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department, a life member of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council #3026, a charter member, past president and Melvin Jones Fellow recipient of the Belle Vernon Lions Club, a life member of the American Legion, and a former member of the Mon Valley Country Club and former Belle Vernon School Director. Mr. Vizza retired after 46 years as a State Farm agent, where he had received various awards. He had also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Kane Vizza; a son, William Kane Vizza of San Ramon, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Richard Dunmeyer of Belle Vernon; two sisters, Alice Greco of Greenville and Lorraine D'Amico of Fairfax, Va.; and seven grandchildren, Lori, Lisa, Scott and Kristi Vizza, Joel and Ryan Dunmeyer and Kelley Roberts. Friends will be received in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be in the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
Julia Ann (Robak) Diehl, 96, of Penn Township, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000. She was born June 16, 1903, in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Good) Robak. She was a member of the Jeannette Assembly of God Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Raymond E. Diehl; a brother and sisters, Charles Robak, Elizabeth Orris, Virginia Koerbel, and Helen Sims; and a granddaughter, Jayne Diehl. Survived by four sons, Glenn R. and wife, Mildred Diehl, of Harrison City, John E. and wife, Judith Diehl, of Harrison City, David B. and wife, Diane Diehl, of Greensburg, and Frederick P. and wife, Andrea Diehl, of Jeannette; a daughter, Vera (Diehl) Beuten of North Huntingdon (and her late husband, Robert); eight grandchildren, James Beuten of North Huntingdon, Kathy Dwojak, Carolyn Diehl, and Benjamin Diehl, all of Harrison City, Sandra Day of South Carolina, Shelly Spalone of Jeannette, David Diehl of Greensburg, and Angie Ritenour of Mt. Pleasant; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Quinn of Florida. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin. Service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jonathan P. Hardt officiating. Interment Jeannette Memorial Park.
John E. Dreliszak, 72, of Scottdale RD1, Dreliszak Road, East Huntingdon Township, died late Saturday evening, Jan. 15, 2000, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Morewood, a son of the late Albert and Anna Siemanowska Dreliszak. He was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. John was a retired lock assembler for the former Brown-Boveri, now A.B.B. of South Greensburg, with 33 years of service. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. John leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Patricia Forkey Dreliszak, with whom he celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on Sept. 7, 1999; his son and daughter, Mark A. Dreliszak and his wife, Mary M. (Ruggieri), of Connellsville and Teresa L. Dreliszak of Scottdale RD1; his three grandchildren, Ryan Mark, Alyssa Ann and Christopher John Dreliszak; his brother and sisters, Mrs. Michael (Catherine) Kaczmarek of Mt. Pleasant, Stanley Dreliszak of Scottdale RD1, Genevieve Dreliszak of Scottdale RD1, Josephine Patula and her husband, Carl, of Mt. Pleasant, Leona Dreliszak of Scottdale RD1 and Jane Hendricks and her husband, Paul of Scottdale RD1; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Casimer S. Dreliszak, on Jan. 2, 1987, Alvin J. Dreliszak on Jan. 19, 1993 and Leo J. Dreliszak on Oct. 29, 1994; and a sister, Bernice Lukasik on Aug. 3, 1995. Visitation will be private. Friends are invited to join the family Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X R.C. Church, Mt. Pleasant, to celebrate John's Funeral Mass with the Rev. Michael W. Matusak, his pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale.
Edna Giron, 82, of Rochester, Pa., formerly of Jeannette, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000. Born Feb. 9, 1917, in Pitcairn, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Rouse Bickerstaff. She was a housewife, and Presbyterian by faith. She was a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church, Jeannette. She was past president of the Philea Loug Bible Class. She was a member of the Penn Township Ladies Firemen's Auxiliary and a member of the Senior Citizens of Beaver County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Giron, in 1989; three brothers; and five sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jo Ann McKnight of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Barbara Eileen Miller of Rochester; five grandchildren, Mrs. Juan (Michelle) Gallinal of Brighton Township, Mr. Gary McKnight of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Stephen Miller of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Eric (Karen) Martin of Rochester, and Mrs. Brette (Susan) Hagins of Dallas, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Bolin, Anah, Nia, and Aubree; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Hazel) Johnston of Greenock. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Ronald Kronk, of the First United Presbyterian Church, New Sewickley Township, will officiate. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
Mae Kalp, 80, of Jones Mills, passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born Oct. 8, 1919, at Acme, a daughter of the late Philip and Ruth Brown Shafer. She was a graduate of Hurst High School in 1937 and had been employed at the Donegal Elementary School as cafeteria manager. She had also worked as a secretary for the Old Republic Insurance Co., Greensburg. She was a member of the Center Bethel Church of God in Alverton; formerly belonged to the Mt. Nebo Church of God, where she was church pianist and taught the adult bible class; and she was associated with the Kregar Community Church in her earlier years. Also, she was a member of Mt. Pleasant Court #46 Order of the Amaranth, of which she was past Royal Matron, and was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star #435 of Greensburg. She is survived by her husband, Earl H. Kalp, whom she married July 12, 1938; a son, Tim Miller and wife, Winona, of Stahlstown RD1; two grandchildren; a sister, Garnet Carney and husband, William, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two brothers, Domer Shafer and wife, Ioan, of Orlando, Fla., and Charles Shafer and wife, Gloria, of Mt. Pleasant; also numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Hays and Lorene Shafer; and a brother, Glenn Shafer. Friends will be received at the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, Route 711 at Melcroft, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wendell Grimm and the Rev. Robert Stahl co-officiating. Committal and interment
will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Champion. The Order of Eastern Star #435 of Greensburg will conduct a memorial ritual today at 7:30 p.m. and the Order of Amaranth will conduct a memorial ritual at 7 p.m. Tuesday, both at the funeral home.
A memorial service for Zethel L. Kaylor, 89, of Greensburg, who died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 246 S. Main St., Greensburg, with the Rev. E. Allen Scanlon and the Rev. Craig T. Hess co-officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the memorial service. Mary "Jennifer" McCloy, of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday morning, Jan. 16, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Avonmore, a daughter of the late John Irvin and Mary Kathryn Repine Johnston. She was Presbyterian by faith. Jennifer was an avid bingo player. She was a graduate of Bell Township High School. She previously had been employed by Westmoreland Manor, J.C. Penney Co. and Frick Hospital. Currently, Jennifer was an associate of the Saloom Funeral Home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. McCloy Sr., in 1962; a son, James Charles McCloy in 1997; and a sister, Theda Loraine McLaughlan. She is survived by four sons, Jack R. McCloy Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Stevensville, Md., Dell McCloy of Youngwood, Niles Frederick McCloy and wife, Carol, of Mt. Pleasant, and Gregg Johnston McCloy and wife, Olga, of Ligonier; a daughter, Kathryn Ethel Fultz and husband, Bill, of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Lee McCloy of Mt. Pleasant; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Johnston and wife, Sally, of Marysville, Calif. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Timothy V. Antoinette T. Mullin, 83, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Suzanne Clemens Thomas. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and its Rosary Confraternity. She was also active with the Westmoreland Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Unit 10, and the Chesamac Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Mullin; and nine brothers and sisters. Surviving are five children, Michael Mullin and wife, Barbara, of Jeannette, Sally Denis and husband, Greg, of Ohio, Peter Mullin and wife, Tess, of Colorado, Mary Cox and husband, Bill, of Illinois and Joseph Mullin and wife, Michele, of Latrobe; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister and brother, Henrietta Thomas and Hans Thomas, both of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. Charlotte Ober Perfield, 87, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, in Monsour Hospital, Jeannette. She was born April 17, 1912, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Dr. I.J. and Elda Harman Ober. She was a graduate from Greensburg High School and graduated from Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1934 with a B.A. in music. After locating in New York City, in the late 30's and 40's she was a piano accompanist for a number of well-known singers and dancers, and was a pianist with the Fred Waring Glee Club and the RobertShaw Chorale. At the age of 50, she graduated from New York University with a master's degree in music. She continued her music career by teaching choral music in the New Rochelle School System for more than 20 years, following which she retired to Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Perfield, on Aug. 22, 1979; and a brother, Henry E. Ober, M.D., on Nov. 10, 1993. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Margaret Perfield Villane of Huntington Station, N.Y.; a grandson, Peter Henderson and his wife, Lori, with whom she resided prior to her illness; two granddaughters, Rebecca Ann and Amy J.; and a great-granddaughter, Kiersten Henderson. Stump, 84, of Greensburg, who died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, will be held Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. in the Christ Episcopal Church, North Main Street, Greensburg, with the Rev.
