SOPHIE G. SOKOLA
Sophie G. Sokola, 87, of Liberty Street, Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Dottie's Personal Care Home, Scottdale, East Huntingdon Township. She was born April 14, 1912, in Owensdale, a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Wolak Sokola. Sophie was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson, and attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Pittsburgh, where she had resided for more than 30 years. She was a retired owner/operator of Jack's Cleaning Shop, Homestead Park, Pittsburgh, for more than 30 years. Sophie also served as a governess for the Sidney Wilkoff family in Pittsburgh for 12 years. Sophie leaves to cherish her memories, a sister, Frances Konieczny and her husband, Joseph, of Mt. Pleasant, with whom she recently resided; and the following nieces and nephews: Eileen O'Connor and her husband, Patrick, of Lower Burrell, Ronald Konieczny and his wife, Tara, of Colorado, Sandy Cesario and her husband, Robert, of Mt. Pleasant, Cynthia Oriolo and her husband, Vincent, of McKees Rocks, Richard Davis and his wife, Nancy, of Michigan, Bill Davis and his wife, Sharon, of South Dakota, and August Stolle and his wife, Betty, of Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Steve, Stanley and Joseph Sokola; and four sisters, Jessie G. and Bridget V. Sokola, Mary Stolle and Catherine Davis. Sophie's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson, with the Rev. Frank Lesniowski as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph R.C. Parish Cemetery, Everson. A parish wake service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

WALTER A. STANTS SR.
Walter A. Stants Sr., 67, of Ruffsdale, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Ruffsdale, a son of the late David Elmer and Mazzie Soles Stants. He was a member of the Smithton Church of the Nazarene. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Stants was a tractor trailer driver for Westinghouse Corp. Walter was also a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean era. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sarah B. Cottle Stants; his children: son, Walter A. Stants Jr. of Ruffsdale, and daughters, Sherry Haines, Debra Garrity and Patty Lynn Jubic, all of Ruffsdale, Marilyn Elaine Toth of Mammoth and Judy Diane Bailey of Mt. Pleasant; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, David Henry Stants of Ruffsdale; and sisters, Sarah Brick of West Newton and Clara Brown of Ruffsdale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Stants; and his grandson, Walter Garrity. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the MURPHY-CARUSO MEMORIAL HOME, 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Smithton Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Michael R. Beckley officiating. Interment in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs.

EARL ROBERT GASKIN
Earl Robert Gaskin, 69, of Conyers, Ga., formerly of Adamsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Rockdale Hospital, Conyers. He was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of the late William and Louise Spadth Gaskin. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by A.S.G. as a millwright with 30 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 5290 and American Legion Post 77, both of Conyers. He was also a lifetime member and former fire chief of the Adamsburg and Community Volunteer Fire Co. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Carson Gaskin; a son, William Gaskin of Adamsburg; two daughters, Mildred Cook Tanner of Covington, Ga., and Jacqueline Mallick of Adamsburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the MANN & WALDEN FUNERAL HOME, Conyers, Ga., (770) 483-7208. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating.

EUGENE R. GELFO SR.
Eugene R. Gelfo Sr., 84, formerly of Youngwood, died at his home in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Monday, Jan. 17, 2000. He was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Youngwood, a son of the late Domenick and Carmela Belloma Gelfo. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Bompiani Gelfo; and a brother, Joseph Gelfo. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Honolulu. He was a retired sales promotion manager of the former RobertShaw Controls in New Stanton and also retired from the Royal Peddler in Honolulu. He was also a member of the A&B Club of Youngwood and the B.P.0.E. of Mt. Pleasant. Surviving are a son, Eugene R. Gelfo Jr. and his wife, Florence, of Honolulu, Hawaii; a daughter, Carmela Azzaro and her husband, Samuel, of Keene, N.H.; three grandchildren, Kimberly and Michael Gelfo and Matthew Azzaro; and a sister, Angela Miller, and brother, Samuel Gelfo, both of Youngwood. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Youngwood, with the Rev. Father John S. Szczesny as celebrant. Interment to follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.

DONALD H. GLUNT
Donald H. Glunt, 68, of Export, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000. He was born March 24, 1931, in Export, a son of the late Ralph R. and Anne Stover Glunt. Mr. Glunt was a member of the Heavy Construction Labor Union #1058, Pittsburgh. He and his family were also members of the Bible Truth Chapel Plymouth Brethren Congregation of Murrysville. Don is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Export; two sons, Timothy and wife, Cheryl, of Grampian and Thomas and wife, Audrey, of Plum Borough; a daughter, Fayanne Glunt of Delmont; four brothers, Ronald of Irvona, Harry of Sarver, Larry of Sarver and Ralph E. "Butch" of Dunbar; and two sisters, Loretta Arntt of Omaha, Neb., and Marie Glunt of Kissimmee, Fla. Also survived by four grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Jessica and David Glunt. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export, where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Lawrence officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

JAMES D. HENDERSON
James D. Henderson, 41, of Latrobe RD2, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in his home. He was born Dec. 20, 1958, in Latrobe, a son of Willa Hutchison Henderson of Latrobe and the late Frank Henderson. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by two brothers, Michael J. Henderson and Kenneth Henderson. In addition to his mother, he is survived by four sons, Joseph Henderson, James Henderson, Joshua Henderson and Jason Henderson, all of Latrobe; a daughter, Brenda Jones of Latrobe; three brothers, Frank Henderson Jr. of Rural Valley, John Henderson of Houston, Texas, and Charles Henderson of Derry; and five sisters, Cathy Piper, Linda Newhouse, Nancy Piper and Kelly Knott, all of Latrobe, and Stacie Piper of Ligonier. Also survived by Diana Jones, Debbie Henderson, and a number of nieces and nephews. There is no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service Monday at 1 p.m. in Green Mountain Cemetery, Ligonier Township. The JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, is in charge of arrangements.

JUDY K. KINSEY
Judy K. Kinsey, 60, of Ligonier, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at her home. She was born March 6, 1939, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Ross D. and Sara J. Nieport Kinsey. She had previously been employed as a secretary by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Harrisburg. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, Ligonier, where she was a volunteer secretary, church clerk and a deacon. She was also a volunteer secretary at Camp Harmony, Hooversville, a member of the Ligonier Township Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ladies Auxiliary, and a secretary/treasurer for the Kinsey Museum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Ross Kinsey. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Edward (Jeanne) Boyd of Ligonier; two nieces, Mrs. Thomas (Joni) Beckman and Mrs. Frank (Becky) Kwak, both of Ligonier; two great-nieces; and three great-nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier. Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the First Church of the Brethren, Ligonier, with the Rev. James D'Amico officiating. Interment in Menoher Memorial Park, Ligonier. Memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the First Church of the Brethren, 1204 Route 271 South, Ligonier, PA 15658, or Camp Harmony, 1414 Plank Road, P.O. Box 158, Hooversville, PA 15936.

J. ELIZABETH MACDONALD
J. Elizabeth Macdonald, 90, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, in the Baldock Health Care Centre, North Huntingdon. She was born Jan. 20, 1910, in Barnsley, England, a daughter of the late John Edwin and Jessie Howard Dunn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Macdonald; a granddaughter, Beth Rath; two brothers; and a sister. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James (Margaret) Rath and Mrs. C. Edwin (Laurel) Yates, both of North Huntingdon; a son, Douglas Macdonald of Murrysville; a brother, Howard Dunn of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Bonnie Kravec, Becky Krupa, David Rath, and Jason and Eric Yates; and five great-grandchildren. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements by the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon.

SARA S. BRAIS
Sara S. Brais, 77, of Jeannette, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born May 24, 1922, in Grapeville, a daughter of the late Earle and Myrtle Sadler McGraw. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette, and its Rosary Altar Society. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Anthony P. "Tony" Brais of Jeannette; a son, Anthony E. Brais and his wife, Elizabeth, of Liverpool, N.Y.; four daughters, Patricia Musiak and her husband, Andrew, of Manor, Kathleen Miller and her husband, William, of Allison Park, Paula Utzman and her husband, Bill, of Jeannette and Mary Jane Grimm and her husband, Curt, of Scottdale; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Riddle of Greensburg and Mildred Brais of Susan City, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

MILDRED (BROWN) CHADWICK
Mildred (Brown) Chadwick, 97, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000. She was born Oct. 28, 1902, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late James T. and Gertrude (Duskins) Brown. She was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William White; her second husband, Archie Roman Chadwick; and a brother, James L. Brown. She is survived by a son, William R. White of Kettering, Md.; and a granddaughter, Jewel (White) Williams of Waldorf, Md. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl R. Terry III, officiating. Interment Brush Creek Cemetery.
