LOUISE R. CERMAK
Louise R. Cermak, 81, of Loyalhanna, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1918, in Loyalhanna, a daughter of the late Antonio and Rosa Brugnoli Bisi. She was a member of the former Loyalhanna Community Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Louis, Adolph, John, and Arthur Bisi; and three sisters, Mary Pauza, Olive Paul, and Virginia Dotterway. She is survived by her husband, Vince F. "Red" Cermak; a son, Vince Cermak and his wife, Eileen, of Middletown, R.I.; a daughter, Elaine Cermak of Latrobe; and a grandson, Michael Cermak. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.

WILLIAM F. CLINE
William F. Cline, 76, of Export, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000. Born Feb. 13, 1923, in Export, a son of the late Ross and Josephine Hill Cline. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Leasure Cline; and two brothers, Francis and Oliver Cline. Survived by four sons, George L. of Slickville, James E. and wife, Cheryl, of Export, Joseph L. Sr. "Lee" of Saltsburg, and Dennis and wife, Patti, of Export; four daughters, Mrs. Edward (Louise) Merlock of New Alexandria, Mrs. Roger (Jane) Martz of Export, Bertha Shadle of Saltsburg, and Mrs. William (Dianne) Patterson of New Alexandria; five sisters, Tillie Vargesko, Esther Elliott, Doll Montel, Anne Swank, and Jane Hudgkin; also survived by 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gary R. Smith officiating. Interment Grandview Cemetery.

EDITH E.K. MAJCHER
Edith E.K. Majcher, 73, of Ruffsdale RD1, formerly of Pittsburgh, after an extended and courageous struggle with cancer, went to her final rest Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Cecelia Rohosky. She was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late Herman and Amalia Zink Klag. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Duquesne, and a graduate of the Baltimore High School and the Clara Barton Business School of Baltimore. She was a homemaker, and formerly worked as an accountant. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Regis R. Majcher; and was the devoted mother of four children, Michael R. Majcher of Ruffsdale RD1, Howard H. Majcher and wife, Elizabeth, of West Mifflin, Delores Lynn Kostrub and husband, Joseph, of Pittsburgh, and Cecelia Emily Rohosky and husband, Thomas, of Mt. Pleasant RD5; three grandchildren, Brian Kostrub, and Emily and Nicholas Rohosky; a brother, Leroy Klag and wife, Vola, of Baltimore, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Klag. Funeral services will be private and are under the direction of the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Mt. Pleasant.

JOHN H. SANTMYER
John H. Santmyer, 56, of North Broadway, Scottdale, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 23, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. John was born in Scottdale, Sept. 12, 1943, a son of Laura "Sis" Culler Santmyer of Scottdale and the late Howard "Hub" Santmyer, who passed away on March 7, 1997. John was a former resident of Hayward, Calif., where he resided for many years. He previously was employed as a maintenance man and truck driver for the City of Hayward, Calif., and also worked as an employee of a local archery shop. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served as a 2nd Class Airman in the U.S. Navy for eight years. John was an archery enthusiast and a member of the Bonnie Bowmen Archery Club in Redwood, Calif. He also enjoyed fishing. John is survived by his loving family: his mother, Laura "Sis" Culler Santmyer of Scottdale; four children, John Santmyer and his wife, Patricia, of Connellsville, and Diane, Robert, and Jamie Santmyer, all of California; two grandchildren; four sisters, Joyce M. Carnes and husband, Albert, of Mt. Pleasant, Linda F. Bennett and husband, Mark, of Littleton, Colo., Karen S. Knopsnider and husband, Domer, of Ruffsdale RD2 and Melody L. Overly of Scottdale; a brother, Ronald L. Santmyer of Scottdale; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by three nephews, Domer Wade Knopsnider Jr., Ronald Santmyer and James Overly; and a great-niece, Kimberly Sue Knopsnider. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bob Chambers officiating. Graveside committal service and interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs, with full military honors bestowed by the James E. Zundell American Legion Post #446 of Mt. Pleasant.

AMANDA K. SMITH
Amanda K. Smith, 104, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at her home. She was born Dec. 10, 1895, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late John M. and Katherine Wilt Keenan. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Smith Sr.; a daughter, Esther J. Smith; three sisters; and two brothers. She was Protestant by faith, a member of the First United Church of Christ. She is survived by three daughters, Twyla M. Langenberg of Sedona, Ariz., Betty J. Hiner of Waynesboro, Va., and Alice and her husband, Howard Wurzbacher, of Greensburg; a son, Robert E. Smith Jr. of New Alexandria; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edwin Fromm officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ.

ELIZABETH DIORIO
Elizabeth DiOrio, 89, of Greensburg, formerly of New Alexandria, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. She was born Sept. 21, 1910, in New Alexandria, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Merichko. She was also predeceased by her husband, Charles "Chappy" DiOrio; an infant son, James; two brothers, Paul and Andrew Merichko; two half brothers, Bud and Steve Merichko; two sisters, Helen Maddock and Marion Gianni; a son-in-law, Samuel J. Merenda; and a grandson, Brian C. Merenda. Survivors include a daughter, Josephine Merenda of Forbes Road; two sons, Charles DiOrio and wife, Doloras, of Norvelt and Louis DiOrio and wife, Beverly, of Hunker; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, (724) 837-0020, Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Crabtree, with the Rev. Augustine Flood, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree. Natale N. Pantalone, funeral director.

ELVA M. ELLIOTT
Elva M. Elliott, 91, of Greensburg, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born July 31, 1908, in Bedford Valley, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Mary M. Zembower Hite. She was a member of the Greensburg Alliance Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell D. Elliott, in 1956; and by several brothers and sisters. She is survived by seven sons, Harold R. and his wife, Nancy Elliott, of Hunker, Richard D. and his wife, Martha Elliott, of Phoenix, Ariz., Emory R. and his wife, Mary Ann Elliott, of Jeannette, James K. and his wife, Shirley Elliott, of Jeannette, William E. and his wife, Linda Elliott, of Phoenix, Ariz., Clyde A. and his wife, Janet Elliott, of Greensburg RD2, and Curtis D. and his wife, Veronica Elliott, of Jeannette; two daughters, Mrs. Allan (Barbara J.) Fox of Southwest Greensburg and Mrs. Paul (Sylvia Jean) Smartnick of Greensburg RD11; 28 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Greensburg Alliance Church with the Rev. D. Roy Dail, her pastor, and the Rev. Scott A. Fox, her grandson, co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. SOPHIE ELIZABETH ENGLER
Sophie Elizabeth Engler, 87, of Arnold, formerly of Creighton, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in Integrated Health Services of Pittsburgh in Greensburg. She was born in Dillonvale, Ohio, and was a lifelong resident of the Valley, having lived in Creighton prior to moving to Arnold. Mrs. Engler was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington. Survivors include two sons, Martin Tony Engler Jr. of Arnold and Ronald Engler of Greensburg; two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph (Gloria J.) Larko of Arnold and Inez Michel of Tarentum; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Eleanor Struble of Arkansas; a half sister, Mrs. Joseph (Clara) Machuga; and a half brother, Anthony Kotowski, both of New Kensington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Engler Sr.; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Engler; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Sarah Engler; her parents, Michael Shemenski and Elizabeth Borkoski Shemenski Kotowski; her stepfather, Joseph Kotowski; three brothers, Adam, Walter, and Stanley Shemenski; and four sisters, Julie Stankivic, Frances Branch, Helen Benecki, and Mary Bertolino. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the RUSIEWICZ OF ARNOLD FUNERAL HOME, 1400 Fifth Ave., Arnold, where prayers of transfer will be recited Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, with the Rev. Richard P. Karenbauer officiating. Burial will follow in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township. Parish wake service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

DIANE JEAN (SCOTT) LILJA
Diane Jean (Scott) Lilja, 35, of Greensburg, formerly of Delmont, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. Surviving are her loving husband, Greg; three children, Justine Nicole, Gregory Austin and Brenden Scott, all at home. She was born Jan. 4, 1965, in Greensburg, a daughter of John E. Scott Jr. and Jean Hartley Scott of Delmont. Also surviving are two sisters, Lauraine Scott Masciantonio and her husband, Carmen, of Center Valley and Christy Scott Belgiovane and her husband, Alex, of Greensburg. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Taira, Mikelle and Carmen Nicholas Masciantonio, Alexandra Belgiovane and Shawn and Tyler Lilja. Diane and her husband co-owned Premiere Pizza of Delmont and Greensburg. Diane was a member of the Better Business Bureau of Western Pennsylvania and was affiliated with the Hempfield Aqua Club and the Hempfield High School Swim Team. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont. Family and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Diane's funeral service will be held in the Faith United Methodist Church, Delmont, Saturday at 11 a.m., with a short visitation beginning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home prior to going to the church. The Rev. James R. Wagner will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, a tax-deductible donation may be made to E.C.C.O.R. Inc. for the Diane Lilja Memorial Swimming Scholarship Fund, which is being established for deserving Hempfield High School scholar athletes (address to be announced tomorrow, or send donations to the funeral home). MARGARET A. MAJERCIK
Margaret A. Majercik, 75, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at her home. She was born July 10, 1924, in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Jozef and Mary Dill. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, North Huntingdon, and the Penns Woods Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M. John Majercik; four brothers, John, Michael, Joseph and Edward Dill; and a sister, Ann Petro. She is survived by her son, Dennis Majercik of North Huntingdon; two daughters, Donna Reed of North Huntingdon and Diane Weaver of Beyer; and five grandchildren. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, followed by interment in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon.
