Anna Belle (Anabel) Moore, 84, of Latrobe RD5, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Latrobe Care Center. The husband and children of Anabel Foster Moore would like to share with their friends that on Jan. 24, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Anabel has gone to her heavenly home and reward. We would like you who knew our wife and Mom to rejoice with us in this final victory and to remember with us all the love she shared through her faith and through her poetry. A homemaker and former sales clerk for Troutman's, Anabel was a lifelong member of New Life Community Church in Derry and served the Lord in many capacities over the years. She taught all of us, her five children, 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren how to live our faith. Anabel was born March 9, 1915, in Bradenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Foster and Dorothy Ayers Foster; a son, John Norman Moore; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Lucas; a brother, John Foster; and a sister, Mrs. Howard (Olive) Reynolds. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Norman L. Moore; and by her children, Norma and her husband, William Albaugh, of Derry, Nancy and her husband, Theodore Keir, of Bradenville, Erma and her husband, James Hauser, of Latrobe, Barry and his wife, Ilene, of Blandon and Sherrie and her husband, Dewey McDonald, of Flanders, N.J. She is also survived by a sister, Erma Kellerman of Greensburg; a brother, James Foster of Latrobe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the MICHAEL J. QUINLISK FUNERAL HOME INC., 548 N. Chestnut St., Derry, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dr. Donn Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Coles Cemetery, Derry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Latrobe Hospital Hospice or the Edgewood Nursing Center.
Joanne L. Petitta, 86, a lifelong resident of New Kensington, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in Longwood at Oakmont. She was born Dec. 13, 1913, in New Kensington, a daughter of the late Frank and Domenica Lecce Petitta. She was parish secretary for Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, for over 70 years, during which time she also taught Sunday school. She was prefect of the parish's C.C.D. religious education program, which for many years included week-day religious education classes in fire halls and clubs in the tri-city area, Logans Ferry, and Aluminum City Terrace. She was currently active in the food bank of Mt. St. Peter Church, and in the church's Ezekiel 37 Prayer Group and Addolorata Society. Together with Mary Abati, she maintained the Apostolate of Mary in New Kensington. In earlier years, it was used as a retreat house. Among many notable people who came to the Apostolate to make a retreat are two currently being considered by the Vatican for sainthood: Dorothy Day and Father John J. Hugo, a Retreat Master. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis P. Petitta, Joseph "Sody" Petitta and one in infancy. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the JOHN B. GUINTA FUNERAL HOME INC., 1509 Fifth Ave., Arnold. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Mt. St. Peter Church, where a Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue after the Mass until 10 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Richard Curci, as celebrant. Interment will be in the Greenwood Memorial Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Contributions may be made in her memory to the New Millennium Fund of Mt. St. Peter Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA 15068. The Ezechiel 37 Prayer Group will conduct a service Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Lillian C. Penzera, 81, of South Greensburg, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born April 22, 1918, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late John and Cora Dunfee Nolan. Prior to retirement, she had been employed by the Latrobe Steel Co. She was a member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kingston Veteran's and Sportsmen's Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Groba, in 1951; her second husband, John L. Penzera Sr., on Sept. 20, 1999; by a son, John A. Groba; an infant daughter, Mary Lou Groba; two grandsons, Jeffrey Petrus and John A. Groba Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Marie Ann Vaccare; two sons-in-law, Floyd Seliga and Joseph Petrus Sr.; a brother, Delbert Nolan; and two sisters, Stella Smith and Elda Nolan. She is survived by five daughters, Teri Seliga of Kingston, Barbara and her husband, Harry Kennedy, Margaret Petrus, Anna and her husband, Frank Martelli, and Rita and her husband, Lester Jellison, all of Latrobe; a stepson, John M. Penzera of Latrobe; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Edward Nolan of Latrobe; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg, with the Rev. Blane L. Resko, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
June E. Smith, 84, of Bowie, Md., formerly of Latrobe, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Doctors Hospital, Bowie, Md. She was born July 30, 1915, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late William N. and Pearl B. Burtoft Weiland. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Maryland, a life member of the White Eagles Club, and a member of Women of the Moose. She was the former owner and operator of the Brenizer Hotel and Pirates Den, and June's Bar & Restaurant in Latrobe. She is survived by two sons, William A. Smith of Sun City, Ariz., and Robert E. Smith of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Robert L. Weiland of California and Lynn A. Weiland of New Mexico; a sister, Lois Bellis of Bowie, Md.; three grandchildren, Virginia, Robert E. Jr., and Kimberly; six great-grandchildren, Stephen, Victoria, Tiffany, Dylon, Ryan and Samantha; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Service Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment Jefferson Memorial Park, Pittsburgh.
Wilma L. Blickenderfer, 71, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in West Penn Hospital, Bloomfield. She was born June 4, 1928, in Cowansburg, a daughter of the late William and Luella Lenhart Landsperger. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin, and the Allegheny General Nurses Alumni. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a registered nurse at McKeesport Hospital, was nursing supervisor at Briarcliff Pavilion, and also was a private duty nurse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Landsperger. She is survived by her husband, B. Maxwell Blickenderfer; a son, Bill Elliot and his wife, Kathy, of Gibsonia; two daughters, Diane Anderson and her husband, the Rev. Dr. Robert J. Anderson, and Sandy E. Venema and her husband, Gary, of Davie, Fla.; two brothers, William Landsperger of Shreveport, Ind., and Harold Landsperger of Sutersville; two sisters, Marian Donaldson of West Newton and Eleanor Pletcher of North Huntingdon; and 10 grandchildren. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin. William G. Bookheimer, 89, of Greensburg, formerly of Irwin, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 9, 1910, in Kearney, a son of the late Charles and Bertha Dodson Bookheimer. He was a retired employee of U.S. Steel, Duquesne Works, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Wingard. He is survived by his wife, Helen Louise Hardy Bookheimer; two daughters, Kay Householder of Hempfield Township and Helen Novack of Largo, Fla.; a son, William G. Bookheimer of O'Brien, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Winnajean F. (Kelley) Breegle, 78, of Smithton RD1 (South Huntingdon Township), passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 25, 2000, at her home. She was born in South Huntingdon Township on Aug. 16, 1921, a daughter of the late Normal H. and Eula Gail Jones Kelley, who passed away May 1, 1967, and June 22, 1989, respectively. Winnajean was a lifelong resident of South Huntingdon Township and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She was a member of the Barren Run United Methodist Church. Winnajean is survived by her loving family: her sons, Woodrow W. Breegle Jr. and wife, Katherine, of Hunker and Eugene J. Breegle of Everson; five grandchildren, Chris S. Breegle and wife, Tiffani, Stuart E. Breegle and wife, Celeste, Jeffory J. Breegle, Kimberly Miller and husband, Richard, and Terri Saber and husband, Michael; five great-grandchildren, Stephen Breegle, Dominnique Breegle, Cory Breegle, Taylor Miller and McKenzie Miller; a sister, Almildra Marker of Indiana; six brothers, Kenneth Kelley and wife, Helen, Orran Kelley and wife, Ruth, Woodrow Kelley and wife, Pearl, Windell Kelley and wife, Edith, Clifford Kelley and wife, Carol, all of Smithton, and Delmar Glen Kelley and wife, Kathy, of Herminie; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Breegle, on June 15, 1976; a daughter-in-law, Carol Breegle, in 1999; and a sister, Ruth Bibel. Walter A. Glass, 97, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home. He was born March 19, 1902, in Markleysburg, a son of the late John and Ida Ringer Glass. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a painter by Westinghouse Electric of East Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Miller United Methodist Church of North Versailles and its Men's Fellowship and was a lifetime member of the Hartford Heights Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Olevia Hamilton Glass; his second wife, Genevieve Ziska Glass; a daughter, Betty Rothfeldt; a grandson, Michael Harrison; and a brother, Robert Glass. Surviving are four daughters, Dorothy Tomlins of Florida, Nanci Oliverio and Carole Balbach, both of North Huntingdon, and Mary Ritter of Murrysville; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Osler of Markleysburg. Amelia "Millie" (Malacky) Habura, 87, of North Huntingdon (formerly of Trafford), died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Turtle Creek. She was born Sept. 29, 1912, in North Braddock, a daughter of the late Emil and Alexandria Malacky. She was a member of All Souls Episcopal Church, North Versailles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Habura; two brothers, Victor and Joseph Malacky; a sister, Irene Kokrak; and a grandson, Thomas Plummer. Survivors include two daughters, Nadine Plummer and husband, Robert, of North Huntingdon and Beverly Creed and husband, Will, of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Emil Malacky of Warren, Ohio; two sisters, Martha Sekula and Olga Rinda of Warren, Ohio; three granddaughters, Kimberly Fields of Greenville, S.C., Karen Scherz of Columbia, S.C., and Christin McDaniel of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two great-granddaughters. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin. Mary T. Danca Hostoffer, R.N., 84, of Scottdale, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 25, 2000, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born May 8, 1915, in Scottdale, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Babiarz Danca. Mary was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale, and a graduate of St. John the Baptist High School class of 1932 and of the H.C. Frick School of Nursing class of 1937. Mary was employed at the H.C. Frick Hospital as a registered nurse for more than 30 years and was the coordinator of many social functions associated with the retired registered nurses of Frick Hospital. Mary leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted children, Marlene A. Melego and her husband, Regis, of Scottdale and Eugene F. "Hoss" Hostoffer Jr. and his wife, Maxine (Geary), of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren, Merriann Melego Grant and her husband, MacDonald, of Jeannette and Kimberly Hostoffer Mastrippolito and her husband, John, of Greensburg; two great-grandchildren, Alexandra Grant and Marlee Grant; and a brother and sister, Joseph J. Danca and Nancy R. Danca, both of Scottdale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. Hostoffer Sr., who died Nov. 15, 1983; two brothers, Anthony and John Danca; and a sister, Phyllis M. Shaner, who died March 23, 1994.
