Mary E. Camarote Pyle, 62, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Oct. 1, 1937, in Greensburg, the daughter of the late John P. Sr. and Emma E. Fannell Camarote. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Greensburg. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by Ed Hoover and Son. She is survived by four children, Kenneth C. Pyle, William E. Pyle and Thomas Pyle, all of Greensburg, and Karen Lojek and husband, John, of Washington, Pa.; six grandchildren; two brothers, John P. Camarote Jr. and wife, Ellen, of Delaware and Gerald T. Camarote Sr. and wife, Sue, of Delmont; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, (724) 837-0020, Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Randall Roda officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree. Natale N. Pantalone, funeral director.
Victor A. Sessi, 77, of Latrobe, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Latrobe, the son of Ethel Noel Sessi Cerutti of Tempe, Ariz., and the late Harvey Sessi. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe. Retired from Latrobe Steel Co. A veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, having served as a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of major. He was a member of American Legion Post 515, Latrobe. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Irene M. Kowalski Sessi; two sons, Barry Sessi of Tallahassee, Fla., and Mark Sessi of Key Largo, Fla.; two daughters, Diane McIlnay of Fayetteville, N.C., and Donna Sessi of Greensburg; and a sister, Dorothy Koleski and her husband, Edward, of Phoenix, Ariz. Also survived by four grandchildren, Brian and Kevin McIlnay, Sheri Porterfield and Cindy Daniels; two great-grandsons, Logan and Connor McIlnay; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. Thomas Lukac as celebrant. Interment St. Marys Cemetery, Unity Township. Military services will be held Monday at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. John the Evangelist Church Building Fund.
James R. Barnard, 62, of Kennesaw, Ga., died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000. A native of Greensburg, Mr. Barnard had lived in Cobb County, Ga., for over 30 years. He worked for Western Electric before it was changed to AT&T, then retired from the Lucent Technologies Division in 1988 after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and of Wildwood Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Barnard of Kennesaw, Ga.; a son, Tim Barnard of Marietta, Ga.; a daughter, Lenora Gallagher of Hampton, Va.; his father, James E. Barnard of Decatur, Ga.; two brothers, Roy Barnard of Youngstown, Ohio, and David Barnard of Smyrna, Ga.; four sisters, Carol Williams and Ruby Russell, both of Smyrna, Ga., Ruth Robinson of Roswell, Ga., and Joyce Atkinson of Acworth, Ga.; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at the WINKENHOFER PINE RIDGE FUNERAL HOME in Kennesaw, Ga., (770) 422-7299. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Wildwood Baptist Church in Acworth, Ga., with the Rev. Russ Shinpoch and the Rev. Bob Noffsinger co-officiating. Burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta.
Violet E. Fretts, 86, of Scottdale RD1, died Friday evening, Feb. 4, 2000, in Scottdale Manor Rehabilitation Center. She was born Nov. 17, 1913, in Acme, a daughter of the late Ira C. and Bertha Welshonse Shaw. Violet was a faithful member of the Pennsville Baptist Church and its Sunshine Sunday School Class. She was a retired book finisher for Herald Press at Scottdale Mennonite Publishing House, with 22 years of service. Violet leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted children, James R. Fretts and his wife, Shirley (Pearl) of Connellsville RD, Mrs. David (Connie F.) Bodie of Aiken, S.C., Ronald E. Fretts and his wife, Pat (Hickey) of Scottdale RD and Glenn B. Fretts of Connellsville; her 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Charlotte Clawson of Mt. Pleasant RD, Mabel Dillinger of Shelbyville, Ind., Jane Keefer of Ohio, Mrs. Clifford (Phyllis) Fisher of Dawson and Richard Shaw and his wife, Alla, of Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen A. Fretts, who died April 28, 1982; six brothers, Lawrence F., Donald W., Charles Clayton, James Raymond, Robert Dale and Hayes A. Shaw; seven sisters, Katheryn Bable, Patty Lee Potoka, Dorothea Shaw, Margaret Hudzema, Lois Keefer, Anna Belle Palkovic and Ruth A. King. Friends were received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, and will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Parting prayers will be recited Monday at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. in Pennsville Baptist Church, Pennsville, with the Rev. Robert H. Bixel officiating. Interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery.
Helen D. Gaskell, 88, of Jeannette, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at her residence. She was born at Sadlers Crossing, Hempfield Township, Aug. 18, 1911, a daughter of the late William L. and Margaret Smeltzer Sadler. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeannette and the Order of the Eastern Star #69 of Jeannette. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Gaskell, in 1994; a brother, Lester P. Sadler; and a sister, Margaret Seigfried. She is survived by two stepchildren, Vernon G. Gaskell and his wife, Minnie, of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Naomi Levinson of Woodlawn, Jeannette; four grandchildren, Michael and Renee Levinson, Laurie Hawse and Guy Gaskell; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held in the LAWRENCE J. McCLURE FUNERAL HOME, 112 N. Second St., Jeannette, Wednesday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel Defassio officiating. Private interment
in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to one's favorite charity.
Josephine A. Hribal, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born July 21, 1919, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Pyczynski (Skero) Skierra. She was a member of the former St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Josephine was an avid bingo player. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Hribal, in 1988; four brothers, Charles, Alex, Frank and Edward Skero; and two sisters, Frances Vasbinder and Annastashia Skierra. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. Hribal, and Larry J. Hribal and his wife, Debbie, all of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Ian, Adam, Lauren and Sean Hribal, all of Mt. Pleasant; and two brothers, Bernard Skierra of York, England, and Joseph Skero of Carson City, Nev. Friends will be received in the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael W. Matusak as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Lois Genevieve Pritts, 91, formerly of Stahlstown, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Eicher's Family Home, Normalville. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Pritts; and two sons, Donald and Charles. She is survived by two sons, Evan of Stahlstown and William Jr. of Triangle, Va.; two daughters-in-law, Vivian Pritts (Mrs. Donald) of Ligonier and Mary Lou Pritts (Mrs. Charles) of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the L. BOYD SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., Church Street, Donegal, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Florence S. Marks, 75, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in the IHS of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. She was born March 28, 1924, in Reading, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Phyllis A. Albright Shaw. She was a member of the AARP and loved to play bingo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Marks; and two brothers, Elmer Gieger and John Stoker. She is survived by three sons, Donald S. Marks and his wife, Darlene, of Fort Allen, Charles E. and Thomas C. Marks, both of Greensburg; a daughter, Phyllis Mellon of Hempfield Township; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
Floyd Allison Trout, 86, of Tarrs RD3, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, in Scottdale Manor. He was born May 25, 1913, in Mt. Pleasant Township, a son of the late Walter and Mary Muskgrove Trout. He was retired from the former Walworth Co. of South Greensburg. He was Protestant by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Agnes Trout, Lillian McManus, Anna Trout and Josephine Trout; and five brothers, twin brother Walter Trout, Gilbert, Harry, Luther and Joe. He is survived by his wife, Sara Overly Trout of Scottdale; a son, Tom A. Trout and wife, Brenda, of Greensburg RD4; and a daughter, Sara Faye (husband, John, deceased) Garlets of Mt. Pleasant RD5. He was the last survivor of his immediate family. Also survived by five grandchildren, Michele Mattucci and husband, Ed, John Garlets III, Matthew, Douglas and Ryan Trout; and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the LUTHER J. GRIMM FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Pleasant, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel E. Cluck officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, near Kecksburg.
Paul R. Andrews, 87, formerly of Southwest Greensburg, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Redstone Highlands. He was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Sewickley Township, a son of the late William R. and Nettie Robertson Andrews. He was the retired owner of the former Andrews Appliance Store in Greensburg and had served in the U.S. Navy (Seabees) in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greensburg, the Greensburg Rotary Club and the Greensburg Elks Lodge 511. He also was active with various antique automobile clubs in the area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Taylor Andrews; and his sister, Ruth Andrews. Surviving are his brother, William Arthur Andrews of Peru, Ind.; a sister, Ann Semmelman of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Nash and the Rev. Donald Lash co-officiating. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. The family has requested memorial contributions to one's favorite charity.
