Stuart G. Gongaware, 87, of Adamsburg, formerly of Penn Township, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born June 11, 1912, in Penn Township, a son of the late Samuel I. and Mary Anne Myers Gongaware. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Building Components in Murrysville. He was a member of the Brush Creek Lutheran Church and the Penn Township Senior Citizens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Widuckle Gongaware, in 1991; three brothers, Henry, William and David Gongaware; and two sisters, Cora Ashbaugh and Emma Lewis. He is survived by three sons, Wayne R. Gongaware of Manheim, Pa., Fred S. Gongaware and wife, Gigi, of Penn Township and Larry J. Gongaware and wife, Sue, of Ligonier; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Holly, Kara and Logan. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. William L. Hauser officiating. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
Edward T. Marschik Sr., 67, of College Park, Md., formerly of Murrysville, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, in Takoma Park, Md. He was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Braddock, a son of the late Frank C. and Anna Bello Marschik. He was a diesel mechanic for the Washington Metro Transit System and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by a son, Edward T. Marschik Jr., in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Susan Zimmerman Marschik; three children, James Marschik of College Park, Md., Linda Dortenzo of Greensburg and Daniel Marschik of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Erin Corna, Ellen Dortenzo and Michael Dortenzo, all of Greensburg, and Ashley and Edward J. Marschik, both of Maryland; and a brother, Frank Marschik of Massillon, Ohio. Visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Joseph Trupkovich officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
Catherine Pace, 87, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh Nursing Facility, Greensburg. She was born June 16, 1912, in South Greensburg (Red Onion), a daughter of the late Steve and Barbara Valentage Stermmet. She was Catholic by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent James Pace; a sister, Helen Bogovich; and a brother, Steve Mogus. Surviving are a son, Frank Pace of Greensburg; a brother, Frank Stermmet of California; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, (724) 837-0020, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. Arthur M. Jones, 72, of Ligonier RD1, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Ligonier, a son of the late George A. and Bertha Miller Jones. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Florence Mining Co. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Fort Palmer Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the F.O.E. of Latrobe and member of the former F.O.E. of Ligonier, Byers-Tosh American Legion Post 267, and a social member of the VFW Post 734 of Ligonier. He was preceded in death by his father in 1970; his mother in 1971; and a brother, Robert H. Jones, in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Bowen Jones, with whom he celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on Jan. 25, 2000; two sons, George W. and his wife, Peggy, of Bolivar and Dale A. of Ligonier RD1; two grandsons, Brian and Cory Jones; three brothers, Samuel A. "Elmer" and his wife, Louise, of Ligonier, Earl R. and his wife, Connie, of Ligonier RD1, and George R. "Raymond" and his wife, Donna, of New Florence RD1; six nieces; a nephew; seven great-nieces; a great-nephew; and two beloved aunts, Ruth Watson and Allegra Hartnor of Ligonier RD1. Family will receive friends at the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATORY, Bell and East Church streets, Ligonier, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Ligonier Valley Honor Guard will hold a service at 7 p.m. Sunday. Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Robert D. Cummings officiating. Interment will be in Fort Palmer Cemetery. E. Mathilda Sullivan McSheehy, 88, of Ligonier, formerly of McKeesport, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in St. Anne Home, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 16, 1912, in McKeesport, a daughter of the late William and Lillian Busch Sullivan. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ligonier, and the Latrobe Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin H. McSheehy; a son, Melvin B. McSheehy; and eight brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Kathleen McSheehy Stulbarg of Greensburg; a daughter-in-law, Patricia McFadden McSheehy of McKeesport, Elizabeth Township; six grandchildren, Kay Kowalski and her husband, Don, of West Mifflin, Melvin McSheehy Jr. and his wife, Joell, of Monroeville, Brendan McSheehy and his wife, Missy, of Severna Park, Md., Brian McSheehy and his wife, Kim, of Coraopolis, John Paul "Jay" Stulbarg and Kristin Stulbarg, both of Greensburg; seven great-granddaughters; and two great-grandsons. Family will receive friends at the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATORY, Bell and East Church streets, Ligonier, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Blessing services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Trinity Church, Ligonier, with the Rev. Joseph P. Maddalena as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe. Ellis L. "Dutch" McWilliams, 86, of Trafford, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in the Woodhaven Care Center, Monroeville. He was born July 30, 1913, in Level Green, a son of the late William B. and Stella Glendenning McWilliams. Prior to retirement, he was a power house operator with Westinghouse Electric in Trafford. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Trafford, where he served as a trustee and elder, a member of the F&AM Masonic Lodge #613 and the Syria Shrine Temple for 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Ralph McWilliams. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret Teitt McWilliams; a son, Charles W. and wife, Janet McWilliams, of Trafford; a granddaughter, Dana, and grandson, Charles E. McWilliams, both of Trafford; and a brother, Lewis McWilliams of Level Green. Friends will be received at the JOHN M. DOBRINICK FUNERAL HOME, 429 Duquesne Ave., Trafford, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, Trafford. Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. F&AM Masonic Lodge #613 will hold services Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Glen Errett Mowry Jr., 75, of Pearland, Texas, formerly of Irwin, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, in Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Harris County, Texas. He was born May 16, 1924, in Irwin, a son of the late Glen Errett Sr. and Grace Bell Mowry. He was a graduate of Norwin High School. He was a retired carpenter and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II as a corporal. He was also a former member of the Irwin Presbyterian Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Grace Rosa Griffith Gearhart. He is survived by his second wife, Louise Pittser Mowry; a son, Glen Errett Mowry III and his wife, Kimberly, of Irwin; a stepson, Jim Hogue of Beaver; a stepdaughter, Barbara Putney of Pearland, Texas; two grandchildren, Angela Marie Mowry and Glen Errett Mowry IV; a brother, Robert Mowry of Irwin; two half brothers, Gene Mowry of Pittsburgh and Samuel Gibson of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, in the Brown Cemetery, Saltlick Township, with the Rev. Charles Whipple officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant.
Donald Arthur Reynolds, 82, of Clovis, N.M., formerly of Madison, Pa., and Barberton, Ohio, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, in Plains Regional Medical Center, Clovis. He was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Madison, the son of the late John and Venie Sipole Reynolds. He was the former owner of Robinson Auto Parts, Barberton, Ohio. He was a member of the Parkland Baptist Church, Clovis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of the F&AM Lodge in Barberton, Ohio. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Agnes D. (Knight) Reynolds, he is survived by a son, John D. Reynolds and wife, Frances, of Clovis, N.M.; four grandchildren, Larry Reynolds of Clovis, N.M., Donald Reynolds of Dallas, Texas, Selina Delgado of Amarillo, Texas, and Dana Reynolds of Portales, N.M.; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Grace Hoffman of Greensburg. Friends will be received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Frederick L. Bauer officiating. Interment West Newton Cemetery.

Russell E. Brown, 74, of Derry, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Aug. 2, 1927, on White's Hill (Youngwood), a son of the late Robert and Laura Marie Barkley Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Keister Brown; and a brother, Ron Brown. He is survived by his children, Russell E. Brown Jr. and wife, Jean, of Acme RD1, Shirley L. Niehenke and husband, Ray E., of Greensburg RD11, Randy L. Brown and wife, Vicky, of Crucible and Kristen D. Brown of Arona; five grandchildren, Ryan E. Niehenke of Michigan, Timothy Edward Brown and Kelly Lyn Brown, both of Crucible, and Britteny Elizabeth Brown and William Edward Brown, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; three brothers, Bill Brown and wife, Betty, of White's Hill, Don Brown of Unity Township and Walter Brown and wife, Nancy of Waterford. Russ was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and retired from Moore and Mooreford, Greensburg, after 38 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the NRA and was active in the Alwine Civic Center. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, where service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Central Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

Ella R. (Rittko) Soles, 85, of Delmont, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001. She was born Feb. 15, 1916, in North Braddock, a daughter of the late Irvin and Stella (Welsh) Rittko. Ella was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Murrysville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Soles Sr., in 1978; two brothers, Howard and Ted Rittko; and four sisters, Edith Creighton, Alice Zimmerman, Mildred Wilcox and Sally Laur. Surviving are two sons, William Jr. and his wife, Margie, of North Huntingdon and Irvin and his wife, Alberta, of Murrysville; two daughters, Mrs. John (Marlene) Hyduke of New Alexandria and Shirley Crystaloski of Linesville; a brother, Irvin Rittko of Jeannette; and a sister, Mrs. Frank (May) Hill of Murrysville. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. Friends will be received at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Grant Abe officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor's choice.
