Greensburg
Scott W. Mozden, 42, of Greensburg, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at home. He was born March 8, 1959, in New Britain, Conn., a son of the late Jan Edward and Dorothy Mary Venue Mozden. He had been employed as a manager of operations for Gregg Services. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a special agent, and was a member of AMVETS Post 94, United. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Marie Myers Mozden; and his loving companion dogs, Wally, Snooze and Max. Friends will be received in Scott and Patricia's home (319 George St., Greensburg), Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., at which time a memorial service will also be held. The JAY A. Dr. Lyndon H. Landon Jr., 78, of Vandergrift, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, at his residence. Public memorial service will be in the Fox Chapel Episcopal Church, 630 Squaw Run Road East, Fox Chapel, Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. with Father Brad Wilson officiating. Albert S. Ghrist Jr., 76, of Greensburg, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born April 4, 1925, in Greensburg, a son of the late Albert S. Ghrist Sr. and Jeanne (Rosler) Ghrist of Edna #1. He was employed by Commercial Appliance Co., Greensburg, where he enjoyed working with his now deceased buddy, "Red" Lamolinara. He was later employed by Hussman Refrigeration, Pittsburgh. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Ida (Garola) Ghrist of Greensburg; three loving children, Mary (Ghrist) Kuhns and husband, William, of Greensburg, Linda (Ghrist) Helman and husband, Gary, of Greensburg and Albert S. Ghrist III and wife, Janet, of Ligonier; six loving grandchildren, Gretchen Kuhns, Shawn, Tim and Ben Helman and Stephen and Adam Ghrist; a brother, Bobby Ghrist and wife, Kathy, of Maryland; and four sisters, Martha Rodenz and husband, Jay, of Edna #1, Mabel Woelk and husband, Joe, of Philadelphia, Jean Sterlachini of Delaware and Doris Nehoda and husband, Jack, of Easton; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, (724) 837-0020., Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Forbes Road, Pa., with Father Anthony Burlas, O.S.B., as celebrant. Alice M. Garola, 67, of Latrobe, died Monday, May 7, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Oct. 13, 1933, in Trauger, a daughter of the late Andrew J. Smith and Margaret E. Torock Smith Snyder. She was a retired executive secretary with Vulcon Mold. She was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Latrobe, and the Latrobe Business and Professional Women's (BPW) Club. Survivors include her husband, John L. Garola; a daughter, Mrs. Michael V. (Andrea M.) Farrell of Greentree; two grandchildren, Megan E. Farrell and Shayne M. Farrell; a brother, Franklin L. Smith of Latrobe; and two sisters, Mary Margaret Smith of Polk and Elizabeth J. "Betty" Smith Boggio of Latrobe. Friends were received Tuesday and will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family R.C. Church. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Unity Township. The BPW will hold a service Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
Penn Township
Vincent H. Deluzio, 80, of Penn Township, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 6, 2001, in the Greensburg Care Center. He was born June 7, 1920, in Jeannette, a son of the late Donato and Maria Fante Deluzio. Prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed accountant. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He attended Robert Morris College and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of the Jeannette American Legion Post 344, the Jeannette Rotary, where he was past president and received the Paul Harris Award, and was on the board of directors of Penn State Tool and Die Company, Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Kathy E. Bergeron; a brother, Thomas Deluzio; and a sister, Mary Painter. He is survived by his wife, Helene Martz Deluzio; a son, Vincent C. Deluzio of Pittsburgh; a stepson, George C. Wentzel of Manchester, Md.; two brothers, Fred Deluzio of Florida and Daniel Deluzio of Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren, Meridith, Christopher, Mark, Matthew, Brian and Sandra. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. At 9 p.m. a prayer service will be held with the family. Memorials may be made to the Jeannette District Memorial Hospital, 600 Jefferson Ave., Jeannette, PA 15644. The Jeannette Combined Veterans will hold services Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
William G. Larson, 88, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, in the Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. He was born Dec. 15, 1911, in Greensburg, a son of the late Anton and Marie Eckberg Larson. He was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ of Greensburg. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Westinghouse Air Brake in Wilmerding. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Anna Catherine Poole Larson; a brother, L. Gunter Larson; and a sister, Dorothy Gault. He is survived by a son, Lars Eric Larson of Jones Mills; a grandson, Zachary M. Larson of Greensburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Edwin J. Fromm officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillview Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be placed with the First Reformed United Church of Christ, South Maple Avenue at Third Street, Greensburg.
Sister Pudentiana Lintner, O.S.B., 86, a member of the Sisters of St. Benedict, St. Emma Monastery, Greensburg, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at St. Anne Home, Greensburg. Born Jan. 18, 1914, in Oberbayern, Germany, she professed vows in 1937 in the Abbey of St. Walburg, Eichstaett, Bavaria, and came seven weeks later to St. Vincent Archabbey and College, Latrobe, where she worked in the bakery with her sister, Sister Praxedis, O.S.B. In 1986, she was assigned to St. Emma Monastery and Retreat House, where she helped in the monastery kitchen and laundry. She is survived by nieces and nephews in Germany, and her Monastic community. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Emma Monastery and a wake service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Fatima Chapel with burial in the Sisters' Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monastic Chapel Fund, St. Emma Monastery, 1001 Harvey Ave., Greensburg, PA 15601.
William C. Roach, 51, of Youngstown, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Sept. 12, 1948, in Bellefonte, a son of William A. and Mary Margaret (Shirey) Roach of Youngstown. Bill was the Youngstown Borough manager, manager of the Youngstown Municipal Authority, and president of the Youngstown Borough Council. He was a life member of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Youngstown Firemen's Social Club, the Baggaley Firemen's Club, the Hostetter Slovak Club, and the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Youngstown. He was preceded in death by an uncle, Carl E. Shirey. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Tami L. (Vance) Roach, whom he married on May 3, 1986; his daughter, Miranda J. Roach at home; his brother, Brett A. Roach; and his sister, Susanne Roach, both of Youngstown; his father and mother-in-law, Edgar and Carole Vance; and his brother-in-law, Gary Vance, all of Punxsutawney; his uncle, Warren Roach and his wife, Tanya, of Elkton, Md.; two nieces and four nephews. Friends will be received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Thursday at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Youngstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department, Youngstown, PA 15696. Members of the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department will hold services Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Ruth Rosenzweig, 88, of Murrysville and formerly of Delray Beach, Fla., died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, in Cedars of Monroeville. Born Oct. 24, 1911, in McKeesport. Daughter of the late Joseph and Hannah Ilkovitz Moskowitz. Wife of the late Jacob Rosenzweig. Survived by two sons, Edwin L. Rosenzweig of La Plata, Md., and Attorney M. Samuel Rosenzweig of Murrysville; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 3 p.m., where service will be held at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the JENNIFER S. Russell N. Veverka, 87, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at his home. He was born Dec. 27, 1912, in Hahntown, a son of the late Frank and Mary Sistek Veverka. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a manager of the shipping department for the Serro-Scotty Trailer Factory, Arona. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior of North Huntingdon. He was a lifetime member of the F.O.E. Aerie 1671 of Irwin and the C.S.A. Lodge of Hahntown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Veverka. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Hazel Ingraham Veverka; a daughter, Norma and her husband, Richard Truxal, of Greensburg; three sons, Ronald and his wife, Roberta Veverka, of North Huntingdon, David and his wife, Paula Veverka, of Jeannette and Richard and his fiancee, Margie Taylor, of Irwin; six grandchildren, Paula Hildenbrand, Robert Veverka, Roni Ann Johnson and Jason, Steven and Chad Veverka; a sister, Gladys Popella of North Huntingdon; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Veverka of Fairmont. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Mark A. Fischer, his pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwin Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon.
