Mary R. Sharon, 89, a six-year resident of Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Slickville, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999. She was born Sept. 20, 1910, in Slickville, a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Zerebnick. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Slickville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Sharon Jr.; and two sons, Teddy and Charles E. Sharon. She was the loving mother of William J. Sharon and wife, Hazel, of Greensburg RD2, and Donald A. Sharon and wife, Lois, of Greensburg; many grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Zerebnick of Slickville and Frank Zerebnick of Churchill; and four sisters, Stella Rossi, Agnes Rossi, Katherine Debich and Julie Debich, all of Avonmore. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be held Monday at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m., and continues at the Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, Slickville, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Robert Popichak officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Cemetery. Parastas service at the funeral home Sunday at 7 p.m. Sandra L. Hoffer, funeral director.
Charles E. "Woody" Wadsworth, 67, of Wyano, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, at home. He was born Jan. 28, 1932, in Bullskin Township, a son of the late Jay and Elva Wingrove Wadsworth. He retired from Swank Construction with 30 years of service. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 66. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Dolores (Harbaugh) Wadsworth; six children, Sandra, Sally, Charles, James, Shelly and Jason; 14 grandchildren, Michael, Dawn, Lee, Scott, Ivan, Charles, Aurielle, Stefanie, Robin, Dolores, Daylene, Caitlin, Jacob and Nicholas; four great-grandchildren, Aaron, Caleb, Kyle and Sarah; and a sister, Evelyn Miller. Friends will be received at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Bossart officiating. Interment in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.
Earl Paul Wilson, 57, of Trafford, formerly of Pitcairn, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999. Husband of Martha A. (Tomasic) Wilson; and brother of Mary Lou Cain of McKeesport. Paul was a life member of Pitcairn Fire Co. #1 and an active member of Larimer #2 V.F.D. Friends received Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn, where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m.
Mary Ann Baum, 79, of Loyalhanna, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Loyalhanna, a daughter of the late John and Ida Shabella Pynos. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe, and of the C.S.A. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Baum; five brothers, Theodore, Stanley, Pete, Joseph and John Pynos; and a sister, Ann Mosso. Survivors include a son, David J. Baum and his wife, Kathy, of Latrobe; a daughter, Janice Mania and her husband, John, of Greensburg; a stepson, James Baum of Florida; a sister, Betty Tamer of Latrobe; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Trinity clergy officiating. Interment Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.
Nellie P. Brennan, 84, of Murrysville, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999. She was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Edward and Harriet Earnest Bergstresser. She was preceded in death by her husband, James K. Brennan, in 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Judy Cupps and her husband, Ronald, of Murrysville; a son, Ronald Brennan and his wife, Mary, of New Kensington; three grandchildren, Randy, Susan and Jill; five great- grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a brother, Charles Bergstresser of Cranberry; and a sister, Lillian Bergstresser of Oakmont. Visitation Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James R. Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
Anna C. Kelly Kennelty, 67, of Manor, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born July 6, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late James F. Sr. and Annie Ansenberger Kelly. She was a secretary, a former employee at Westinghouse Homewood Division, Helm's Express, and the Baldock Health Care Centre. She was a member of St. Barbara's Church, Harrison City; a life member and former president of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 472, Manor; Young at Heart, St. Barbara's Church; and the Jeannette Women's Card Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary J. Grabowski. Survivors include her husband, Lee D. Kennelty; a son, Kevin Kennelty and wife, Tammi, of Penn; two daughters, Kara L. DeNezza and husband, Sean, of Manor and Kim Schaefer and husband, Jeff, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a brother, James F. Kelly Jr. of Wexford; five grandchildren, Jesse Roskosky, Ryan Schaefer, Kilie Schaefer, Richard Walker and Daniel Walker. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Barbara Church, Harrison City. Interment Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Vigil service will be held Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Roy E. Emert Jr., 51, of Stahlstown RD1, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 1947, in Latrobe, a son of Jean Penrod Emert of Stahlstown RD1 and the late Roy E. Emert Sr. He was employed by Reon Snyder Trucking Co., Scottdale, and was a veteran of the Vietnam era, having served in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, Beverly McMillen Emert; two daughters, Andrea Ulery and her husband, Christopher, and Crystal Echard and her husband, Derek, all of Stahlstown RD1; three grandchildren, Cody, Alyssa, and Julie; a sister, Elaine and her husband, Thomas Harden; and two brothers, Randy and his wife, Tammy, and Ray Emert, all of Stahlstown. Family will receive friends in the L. BOYD SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., Church Street, Donegal, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Louis Jiansante, 62, of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born April 24, 1937, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Louis and Margaret Pope Jiansante. Prior to his retirement, he was self-employed in the insurance business. He was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Carol Dombrowski Jiansante; two daughters, Donna Taylor of Knoxville, Tenn., and Melissa Jiansante of North Huntingdon; two brothers, Vincent and Dennis Giansante of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Gloria of Riverside, Calif., Dolores Serre of Penn Hills and Donna Giansanti of Riverside, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Abigail Taylor. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon. Interment will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery.
Milton H. Hernley, 74, of Wateroak Drive, Palm Bay, Fla., formerly of Scottdale, passed away early Christmas morning, Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in the Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla. Milt was born in Bullskin Township, Fayette County, April 17, 1925, a son of the late Christian R. Hernley, who passed away July 8, 1963, and Anna Maude Hudson, who passed away Jan. 31, 1972. Milt retired from General Signal in 1983, where he worked as a field superintendent. He began working years before as a brick mason, using this trade and knowledge throughout his entire work career. A former longtime resident of the Scottdale area, Milt married his second wife, the former Shelby Jean Kissick, on Jan. 9, 1982. In July of 1987, they moved to Burlington, Ky., until his wife's retirement in 1992. They then purchased a home and relocated to Palm Bay, Fla., where he resided until his death. Milt was a life member of the Scottdale B.P.O. Elks Lodge #777, a former member of Pleasant Valley Country Club, and a member of the L.O.O. Moose Lodge in Sebastian, Fla. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an engineer in the 258th Engineering Battalion C. He served as a mine sweeper, built bridges, and transported military personnel by boat to Normandy for the landing of the Battle of the Bulge. Milt enjoyed family, friends, golf, travel, sports, and never met a stranger. Most of all, he was a good husband, parent, and grandparent. He had a big generous heart and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Milt is survived by his loving family, his wife of 17 years, Shelby Jean Kissick Hernley of Palm Bay; two sons, Larry Hernley and wife, Sharon, and Jock Hernley and wife, Joni; and a daughter, Sherry Hernley Murray, all of Scottdale; a stepson, John Tomlin of Palm Bay; a stepdaughter, Judy McDonald of Burns, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Randy, Jeff, Nicholas, Jesse, and Marc Hernley, and Jessica Murray, all of Scottdale, Heather Coleman of Pensacola, Fla., Krissie Hernley of Tallahassee, Fla., Shawn Asher of Dickson, Tenn., Katrina and Andrew McDonald of Burns, Tenn., and Leigh Tomlin of Memphis, Tenn; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Larue Johnson and Anna Mary Ross and husband, Pat, all of Scottdale. In addition to his parents, Milt was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Lambing Hernley, on Feb. 9, 1981; two infant sons; an infant daughter; and four brothers, Bill Hernley, on Feb. 15, 1943, Lloyd Hernley on Dec. 21, 1975, Chris R. Hernley, on Feb. 14, 1991, and Lee Hernley, on Nov. 13, 1997. Personalized arrangements for a memorial service and burial in Scottdale are pending and will be announced at a later date by the ROBERT B. Martha G. Campbell, 86, of Greensburg, formerly of Youngwood, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 31, 1912, in Youngwood, a daughter of the late John Gardner and Margaret Stairs Johnson Gardner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Edmond; and two sisters, Helen Cunningham and Alfreda Davidson. She is survived by a son, Frank L. and wife, Linda Campbell, of Chicago, Ill.; two granddaughters, Kristen Margaret and Rebecca Ann Campbell; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngwood, the oldest living member at 74 years. She was an ordained Elder and Deacon, and organist. She was a retired office manager of D.M.E., Youngwood. She was a volunteer at the American Red Cross Blood Bank, and a member and past officer of the Youngwood Senior Citizens. She was a former den mother for the Cub Scouts, and a former member of the Youngwood Progressive Women's Club. She was a member of the G.A.R., a volunteer at the G.A.R. Swissvale Retirement Home, and a volunteer at Redstone Highlands. Friends will be received at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Everyone please meet at the church at 11 a.m. Thursday for the church service with the Rev. Dennis J. Hoffman officiating. Interment to follow in St. Clair Cemetery.
