Also, survived by his father; seven brothers; and two sisters. Dr. Mahsoob was a beloved pediatrician for over 25 years in the North Hills. Samuel "Po Po" Marsico, 103, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. He was born Dec. 21, 1895, in Reggio Calabria, Italy, a son of the late James and Mary Jane Ronka Marsico. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Frank Levin Furniture Co. He was a member of the Ascension Church of Jeannette. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Isabella Bosso Marsico, in 1988; three sons, Joseph I, Joseph II, and Victor J. Marsico; a grandson, Scott Marsico; two brothers, Tony and Ralph Marsico; a sister, Angeline Barbario; and a daughter-in-law, Blanche Ciafre Marsico. He is survived by three daughters, Mary Jane Beaufort and her husband, Wilbert, Angeline Konkus, with whom he resided, and Margaret Gisane and her husband, Albert, all of Jeannette; two sons, James Marsico of Greensburg and Samuel T. Marsico and his wife, Lillian, of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Marsico of Adamsburg; 11 grandchi1dren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Ascension Church. Interment will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
Robert Ben McCann, 75, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at his home. He was born Aug. 25, 1924, in New Alexandria, a son of the late Harry H. and Ethel L. Bennett McCann. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe. He was retired from Latrobe Steel Co. with 37 years service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He belonged to the Company #1 Firemen's Club, Cooperstown Veterans & Sportsmen's, Lloydsville Sportsmen's Club and the Frontier Club, Latrobe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra K. McCann. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Palmer McCann; a son, Robert D. McCann and his wife, Jocelyn, of West Newton; two daughters, Susan J. DePalma and her husband, John, of Greensburg and Carol A. McIntyre and her husband, Patrick, of Latrobe; three brothers, Harry McCann of Henderson, Nev., Donald McCann of New Alexandria, and George McCann of Latrobe; three sisters, Kathryn Bates of Latrobe, Dora Rosborough of Delmont, and Eleanor Miller of Seminole, Fla.; and eight grandchildren, Brian, Danny, Erin, Cara, Kayla, Marisa, Lauren and Megan. Friends will be received Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Trinity clergy officiating. Military services will be held Friday at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 331 Weldon St., Latrobe, PA 15650.
Anna R. Payne, 94, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Oct. 13, 1905, in Plsen, Czechoslovakia, a daughter of the late Ignatz and Rose (Zeman) Vorel. She was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, the former Bible Class of Loyalhanna Mission, and the Latrobe Golden Agers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil O. Payne Sr., in 1976; four brothers, Albert, Joseph, Andrew and Charles Vorel; and a son-in-law, Richard L. Sweeney Sr. She is survived by four children, Virgil O. Payne Jr. and his wife, Florence, of Loyalhanna, Rosanne Mrozinsky and her husband, Felix, of Loyalhanna, Richard C. Payne and his wife, Anita, of Doylestown, and Sally P. Sweeney of Latrobe; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. David B. Batchelder officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township. Word has been received of the death of Richard E. Phillips, 62, of East Lansing, Mich., who died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at his residence. He was born Dec. 3, 1936, in North Braddock, a son of the late Richard and Romayne (Leddon) Phillips. He is survived by his wife, Betty Phillips; two sons, Tony and wife, Kim Phillips, and Richard Phillips Jr.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Phillips of North Huntingdon and Carol Paul and husband, Jerry, of North Huntingdon; two brothers, George Phillips and wife, Michelle, of Pittsburgh and Wayne Phillips and wife, Debbie, of Trafford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services and burial to be held Friday in East Lansing, Mich.
Sylvia Fay Repko, 65, of Latrobe, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Nov. 9, 1934, in Bovard, a daughter of the late John M. and Ida L. Walters Dick. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, Pa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Dick. She is survived by her husband, Joseph S. Repko; four sons, Joe Repko Jr. and his girlfriend, Diana Dale, of Colona, Ill., Mark Repko of Latrobe, Matt Repko and his wife, Mary, and Tom Repko and his wife, Vicky, all of Baggaley; two daughters, Verinia Repko at home and Faith Thomas and her fiance, Rod Weaver, of Greensburg; seven grandchildren, Nick, Derek, Matthew, Joshua, Seth, Tommy and Cassandra; a great-grandson, Austin; five brothers, John Dick `Jr.' and his wife, Jean, of Loyalhanna, Donald Dick of Pleasant Unity, Ralph Dick and Robert Dick, both of Florida, and Ronald Dick of Michigan; two sisters, Betty Allen and Dolores Bridge, both of Florida; her stepmother, Emma Dick of Latrobe. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Chad Ficorilli, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township. A parish rosary will be recited Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Oscar F. Rohrbacher, 77, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born April 16, 1922, in Greensburg, a son of the late Oscar F. and Mary Ellen Lynch Rohrbacher. Prior to retirement, he had been the head of the electrical department for the City of Greensburg. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Greensburg; a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army; and a life member of the Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, Hose Co. #3, where he had held various offices. Also, he was a member of the Pennsylvania State Firemen's Association, Westmoreland County Firemen's Association, the Mohawks Association, and the American Legion Post #981 of South Greensburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. Lyda Rohrbacher, on Oct. 6, 1989; and a sister, Florence Gazze. He is survived by a brother, John "Jack" and his wife, Dorothy Rohrbacher, of Greensburg; two nephews, Barrie and his wife, Lisa Rohrbacher, of Greensburg and Nicholas and his wife, Elizabeth Fields, of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandnieces and nephews, Nicole and Jonathan Rohrbacher of Greensburg, and Taylor and Ryan Fields of Knoxville, Tenn.; and several cousins. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edwin J. Fromm officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department and Mohawks Association will meet at the funeral home Friday at 7:30 p.m. to conduct a memorial service.
Mary R. Sauers, 84, formerly of Smithton and Baltimore, Md., died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at the residence of her son in West Mifflin. She was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Baltimore, Md., a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Lou Schlinkman Solloway. She was a former bookkeeper, having worked at the First National Bank in Baltimore. She was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Rostraver Township. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Sauers; a brother, Walter Solloway; and a sister, Dorothy Walters. Survived by three sons, George Jr. of Florida, Howard of Smithton, and Roy of West Mifflin, with whom she resided; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a nephew, David Alan Walters; and a niece, Donna Lynn Walters. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the L.L. BARTHELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Second Street, Smithton. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Olive Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Norm Melser officiating. Interment Olive Branch Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
Stephen S. Spinner, 89, of Donora, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. He was born July 24, 1910, in Carroll Township, a son of the late Stephen and Emelia Spinner. Mr. Spinner retired in 1972 from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #354 in Youngwood. He was a member of Transfiguration Church in Monongahela. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. A member of the Sutman Yohe VFW Post #1409, Black Diamond, and the James C. Ford Post #949 Carroll American Legion, Dunkirk. Surviving relatives are a son, William "Buddy" Spinner of Donora; three daughters, Darlene and son-in-law, Richard McBurnie, of Long Branch, Rose and son-in-law, Earl Masters, of Monongahela, and Norma Augustine of Monongahela; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred and brother-in-law, Andrew Hustava, of Bentleyville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred B. Stoneman Spinner, who died Nov. 15, 1997; two sisters, Anna and Marie; and two brothers, Sam and Albert. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the L.M. FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Transfiguration Church with the Rev. William Feeney, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.
William L. "Bill" Tufano, 85, of Dunbar, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. He was born April 15, 1914, in Dunbar, a son of the late Aniello and Mary Ann Chicozzi Tufano. He was a retired steel worker of Latrobe Steel Co. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army; a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Dunbar; and VFW Post #47, Uniontown. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Goodwin Tufano; his children, Ericca Tufano of Dunbar and Barry Tufano and wife, Tedi, of Connellsville; a sister, Philomena Pasden of West Virginia; his beloved grandson, Alex; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Also, he was predeceased by four brothers and a sister. Friends will be received at the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville St., Dunbar, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mourning prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius R.C. Church with the Rev. Father J. Edward McCullough as celebrant. Interment Greenridge Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside.
