Sutersville
Bena Reggiani Ferrari, 93, of Sutersville, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg, after an accidental fall at her home. She was born June 15, 1908, in Blythedale, a daughter of the late Angelo and Rosa Codeluppi Reggiani. She was the wife of the late Mondo Ferrari. She is survived by three nieces, Lorraine Ulrich, Marie Custer and Loretta Flanigan, all of Elizabeth Township; and other nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Nauldo, Guino and Libero Reggiani. She was a self-employed business owner and part owner of Mondo's Dairette in Sutersville. She was an employee of Penney's department store in McKeesport. She belonged to the Sutersville Ladies Auxiliary, the AARP and the Senior Citizens, both of Sutersville. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the RALPH L. JOHNSON FUNERAL HOME, Buena Vista. Services will take place in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Handley officiating. Interment will be in West Newton Cemetery.
North Huntingdon
Stephen M. Halas Sr., 79, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born Jan. 8, 1922, in McKeesport, a son of the late Michael and Susan Pazur Halas. Prior to retirement, he was employed as a millwright for U.S. Steel, Irvin Works, Dravosburg. He was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Irwin, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Rose Marie Lawrence Halas; a son, Stephen M. Halas Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Greensburg; three daughters, Roseann Stefanic and her husband, Thomas, Rita Berquist and her husband, Bruce, all of Greensburg, and Marian Halas of North Huntingdon; three grandchildren, Jamie Ritson, Craig Stefanic and Eryn Berquist; and a sister, Mary Mason of Dravosburg. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St., Irwin, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Entombment will follow in the New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, 615 S. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601, or the American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Wilkins Township, PA 15235.
Connellsville
Rita Kathryn Thomas Hall, 72, of Kings Hill, Connellsville, died Thursday evening, Nov. 15, 2001, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Rita's family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, where service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with her son, an Episcopalian priest, the Rev. Donald Hall of Slippery Rock officiating. Committal service and interment
will follow in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery, Scottdale.
Latrobe
Elizabeth I. Hoffer, 63, of Latrobe, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in her home. She was born May 19, 1938, in Blairsville, a daughter of the late Lester L. and Edna Jones Stemmerich. She was retired from Classic Industries, and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Hoffer Sr., in 1992; and a sister, Gladys Stemmerich. She is survived by three stepchildren, Elmer L. Hoffer Jr. of Ligonier, Derrick Hoffer of Bradenville and Oma Hoffer of Latrobe; three step-grandchildren; five brothers, F. Russell Stemmerich of Ligonier, James L. Stemmerich of Homer City, Thomas W. Stemmerich of South Carolina, Richard A. Stemmerich of Ligonier and Staff Sgt. Daniel E. Stemmerich, USMC (retired) of South Carolina; a sister, Mrs. William (Jane) Frisky of Sheffield Village, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, where service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. August B. Jeannette
Mary Louise Kelly, 52, of Jeannette, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1949, in Greensburg, a daughter of Lillian Olivia Kelly of Jeannette and the late Daniel Kelly. Mary was a member of the St. Boniface Church of Penn. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, Daniel Kelly Jr. of Latrobe; godmothers, Yola Frendy of Jeannette and Helen Rapa of Irwin; godfather, James Kelly of Jeannette; and several cousins. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, beginning Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 12:30 p.m. in the St. Boniface Church. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The St. Boniface Christian Mothers will pray the rosary Sunday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
North Huntingdon
William S. Kielur, 63, of North Huntingdon, died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, in his home. Devoted father, loving husband and man of honor. Bill was an avid fitness enthusiast, known to those who knew him best to "never miss a workout." Bill was a retired foreman for LTV Steel, a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, and a tissue/cornea donor through CORE at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Katherine Kominsky Kielur; and his father-in-law, Joseph Obbagy. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Obbagy Kielur; two daughters, Monica L. Baum and her husband, Dr. Neil, and Gloria J. Gnieski and her husband, James; a son, Joseph S. Kielur; and his mother-in-law, Helen Obbagy, all of North Huntingdon. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Florence (Watson) Kline, 86, of Manor, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, in North Huntingdon. She was born April 17, 1915, in Yukon, a daughter of the late William and Sarah (Hamill) Watson. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Manor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Hamilton, who was killed in action during World War II; her second husband, Howard Kline; and three sisters, Rebecca Neleigh, Loretta Knable and her twin, Florene Murray. Survivors include a daughter, Becky Miller of North Irwin; and a grandson, James D. Miller of Manor. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.J. Mary (Uram) Lasser, 83, a lifelong resident of Chalfant Borough, on Friday, Nov. 16, 2001. She was a retired employee of the food service department of the former Churchill School District. Wife of the late John F. Lasser; mother of Robert J. and his wife, Colleen, of Delmont, Karen Wagand and her husband, Bob, of Penn Township and the late Richard R. Grandmother of Gretchen, Lauren, Ricky and Rachael Lasser and Stefanie and Jonathan Wagand. Sister of Peg O'Neill of Irwin and the late Adolph Uram. Judith A. "Judie" Gibson Latine, 61, of Irwin, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, in her home. She was born Aug. 29, 1940, in McKeesport, a daughter of Albert Gibson of Fontana, Calif., and the late Margaret McDonald Gibson. She was an employee of McKeesport Prescription and an avid bingo player. In addition to her father, she is survived by her stepmother, Beverly Gibson; her companion of nine years, Jim Rulyak of Irwin; two sons, Gerald Blyshak of McClellanville, S.C., and Jeffery Blyshak of Erie; two grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Gibson of Vernon, Texas; also two nieces. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m., with a memorial service to be held at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Dr. R. Bruce Maxwell officiating.
