Cora Ada Ross, 95, of Derry, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in Loyalhanna Care Center. She was born Oct. 27, 1903, in Robinson, a daughter of the late John F. and Olive Viola Bowers Moore. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Derry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis N. Ross Sr. on June 29, 1960; two brothers, Wilbert and Everett Moore; and two sisters, Clara Hall and Viola Goffner. She is survived by two sons, Paul F. and his wife Jean Ross of Whispering Pines, North Carolina, and Lewis N. and his wife Ann Ross of Mentor, Ohio; a brother, Roy S. Moore of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and a sister, Mary Yeager of Latrobe; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Ave., Derry, where services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David D. Wilson Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Coles Cemetery, Derry.
Edith G. Scarcella Rosso, 86, of North Huntingdon, died Friday Nov. 12, 1999, in Alexandria, Va. She was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Herminie, a daughter of the late Alfred and Frances Mangan Scarcella. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Angelo "Scratch" Rosso, in 1994; a brother, James Scarcella; and three sisters, Rose Brenna, Angeline Arrotti and Jennie Mistro. Surviving are three daughters, Sylvia Matthews of Springfield Va., Karen Wykle and Sandy Rosso Cooper, both of Alexandria, Va.; three grandchildren; a brother, Anthony Scarcella of California; and four sisters, Josephine Fischetti of Florida, Mary Gross and Margaret Kimberly, both of North Huntingdon, and Carmae Evansek of Herminie. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., Fifth and Oak streets, Irwin, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church. Father Edward C. Tajc, 72, a retired priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, in the St. Anne Home, Greensburg. Born in West Leisenring, Fayette County, on Oct. 11, 1927, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Anna Skurnick Tajc. A graduate of Dunbar Township High School, he held a degree from St. Mary College, St. Mary, Ky., and was a graduate of St. Francis Seminary, Loretto. He also served in the U.S. Army. Father Tajc was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop William G. Connare on May 10, 1969, at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Following ordination, he was assigned as a parochial vicar at St. Mary Church, Uniontown, and subsequently moved to St. Rita Church, Connellsville. He received his first pastorate at St. Hedwig, Smock, in 1976; moved to St. Mary of the Assumption, Brownsville, in 1980; and to Holy Trinity, Ford City, in 1990. In 1996, he was assigned as pastor of All Saints, Masontown, and in 1997, he became pastor of St. Raymond of the Mountains, Donegal. Father Tajc retired on June 30, 1999, for health reasons. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Albert Gallatin Council 1275, and a social member of the West Leisenring Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew, Paul, George "Wally Gingers" Tajc; and two sisters, Elizabeth Zavatchan and Margaret Steinkrauss. Surviving are two brothers, John Tajc and wife, Victoria, of Levittown and Frank Teich and wife, Barbara of Weymouth, Mass.; numerous special nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews; a brother-in-law, Francis Steinkrauss of Weymouth, Mass; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Tajc of West Leisenring and Irene Connelly of Braintree, Mass. Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 139 W. Fayette St., Uniontown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Uniontown, with Greensburg Bishop Anthony G. Bosco as main celebrant. Interment St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Brookvale, where military honors will be accorded by AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood. The K. of C. Albert Gallatin Council 1275 will pay tribute in honor of Father Tajc Monday at 7 p.m. Father Tajc will be remembered by his family as a humble, caring pastor with a special gift of listening and making each member of his congregation feel important. He was a "regular guy" who helped bring the people of Fayette and Armstrong counties closer to God. Mary Jo Zimmerman, 77, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born March 24, 1922, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late James E. and Verdi Stump Zimmerman. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Larimer. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by General Tire and Rubber in Jeannette. She was a 1941 graduate of Greensburg High School. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Willis and James Zimmerman; and three sisters, Eleanor Beam, Mabel Baker and Helen Sutton. She is survived by three sisters, Agnes Seanor and Eileen Zimmerman, both of Greensburg, and Loujean Patrick of California; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Claudia Papenmeier officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillview Cemetery.

Anastasia Barilla, 83, of Jeannette, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, in Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. She was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Stephen and Eva (Lyba) Gresko. Prior to retirement, she had been employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance and Bell Telephone. She was a member of the Jeannette Senior Citizens and a former member of the Friendship and Arts and Crafts Club of Jeannette Manor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rosario Barilla; a grandson, Justin Joseph Barilla; a brother, Stephen Gresko; a sister, Mercedes Brotherton; and a brother-in-law, Philip Gillespie. Survivors include two sons, Ronald S. Barilla and wife, Mary Ellen, of Jeannette and Michael J. Barilla and wife, Jeanne, of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Gillespie; a brother, Joseph Gresko and wife, Irma, all of Jeannette; two grandchildren, Rory M. Barilla and Jaime M. Barilla; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Arch Priest John Nosal officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

Thelma Cecchetti, 75, of Jeannette, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, in I.H.S. of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Mutual, a daughter of the late Ira D. and Anna Mae Silvis Myers. She was a member of the M&S Club Ladies Bocci League, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Casimerro Cecchetti in 1996; and two brothers, Raymond L. and William E. Myers. Survivors include three sisters, her twin, Theda "Tiny" Martinez and husband, Alfonso, of Greensburg, Mary Jane Jones of Blairsville and Margaret Beer of Armbrust; a brother, Earl S. Myers and wife, Dorothy, of Youngstown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, where service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David D. Hunte officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

John M. "Jack" Cole, 65, a resident of the Eastern Orthodox Foundation Home, Indiana, Pa., passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 25, 2001, in Indiana Hospital. Jack was born Feb. 22, 1936, in the Browntown section of Scottdale, a son of the late John H. and Clara B. Bryan Cole. Jack was a former employee of Brilhart's Hardware, Scottdale, and was a former orderly at Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Years ago, he worked as a window washer at an Ohio hospital and was affiliated with the Alverton Church of God. Jack was a 1953 graduate of East Huntingdon High School, where he was active in the school plays and the drama club. He also enjoyed reading books and playing guitar. Jack is survived by his loving family: a sister, Betty Cole Firmstone and husband, William, of Owensdale; five brothers, William J. Cole of Hunker RD1, Raymond E. Cole and wife, LaVonne, of Fostoria, Ohio, Donald P. Cole and wife, Madge, of Hawkeye, Richard Cole and wife, Joan, of Salem, Ohio and Dale E. Cole and wife, Louise, of Bullskin Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Doris A. Cole, on June 26, 2000. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, 724-887-5300. Mary Downs, 77, of Southwest, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, in the Harmon House Care Center. She was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Southwest, a daughter of the late Peter and Dorothy Mamula Dragovich. She was a member of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Youngwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rudy. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, John "Jack" Downs; two children, Robert Dragovich and his wife, Mary Jane, of Acme and Shirley Dragovich at home; a granddaughter, Alena Dragovich; and a brother, George Dragovich at home. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service Thursday (time and place later). Interment will follow in the Freeman-Byerly Cemetery.

Angeline Durio, 91, of Jeannette, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at the home of her daughter in Winchester, Mass. She was born May 29, 1910, in Italy, a daughter of the late Daniel and Pauline (Scrondro) Santone. She was a member of Ascension Church, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Durio; and a daughter, Mary A. Francioso. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Terpko of Winchester, Mass.; two brothers, Joseph Santone and wife, Louise, of California, and Robert Santone and wife, Virginia, of Greensburg; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Private interment

Steve Harhai, 76, of Greensburg RD11, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, in his home. He was born May 6, 1925, in Brinkerton, a son of the late Andrew and Nellie (Zatarach) Harhai. Prior to retirement, he was the owner of the former Youngwood Exxon station and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew, John and Harry Harhai; and a sister, Mary Stracka. He is survived by five children, Stephen J. Harhai and wife, Kathy, of Denver, Colo., Carol A. Harhai and her husband, Richard Merichko, of Hunker, Donald A. Harhai of Palm Springs, Calif., Marilyn K. Harhai of Clarion and Nancy J. Harhai of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Timothy, Richard and Jessica Merichko and John and Kathryn Harhai; a sister, Anna Klaka and husband, Mike, of Greensburg RD2; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or viewing. The family will receive friends Saturday at noon at the Youngwood V.F.W., 108 S. Fourth St., Youngwood.
