Dawn L. (Porucznik) Reed, age 50, on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, in Tampa General Hospital, following a very courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born April 17, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Reed moved to Tampa, Fla., in 1975. She was co-owner of Michael's Complete Auto Care and was Catholic by faith. She was the beloved wife of Michael Reed; loving daughter of Dolores Porucznik of Allison Park and the late Joseph Porucznik; dear sister of Patricia Smiley of Wexford. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Family to receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. WEDNESDAY ONLY in the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Ursula Church, Allison Park.

Emedio M. "Scarp" Scarpino, age 82, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001. Beloved husband of Dorothy Blatnick; loving father of Michael Scarpino, the Rev. Dominick and wife Lorraine Scarpino, and Victor and wife Patrice Scarpino; brother of Vincent Scarpino; grandfather of Christopher, Sara, Angela, Timothy and Ronald; great-grandfather of Dominick. Mr. Scarpino was a lifetime member of the Bricklayers and Allied Crafts Local #9. He was a decorated World War II veteran who served in France and Belgium, and a member of the American Legion Post 351. Friends received Tuesday and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES, LTD./MORASCO CHAPEL, 9406 Frankstown Road (near Graham Boulevard), Penn Hills. Helen A. Tabak, 78, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, in her home. She was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Clarksburg, W.Va., daughter of the late Eva Bonavich Letvinsky. Helen is survived by her husband, Michael A. Tabak Sr.; a son, Michael and his wife, Colleen J. Tabak, of North Huntingdon Township; two daughters, Mary Ann Tabak of North Huntingdon and Charmain M. Tabak of McKeesport; two grandchildren, Michael and Brooke Tabak; and two brothers, Frank Letvinsky of Irwin and Anthony Letvinsky of McKeesport. Friends and family will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Conrad Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, North Versailles.
Clara S. (Bytheway) Airgood, 86, of Pitcairn, on Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999. Wife of the late Roy W. "Piney" Airgood; mother of Clara (husband, John) Thomas of Texas, Hazel (husband, Andy) Powanda of North Huntingdon, June (husband, Bill) Schade of Pitcairn, William (wife, Dolly) Airgood of North Huntingdon, Thomas (wife, Mary Joyce) Airgood of Penn Hills, and the late LeRoy Eugene Airgood; sister of Gertrude Kustra of McKeesport, Rose Zello of Greensburg and the late Margaret Tatters, Sara Tatters, John, Ed and William Bytheway. Roseann G. (Hensberger) Andriechack, 75, of Yukon, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Jan. 27, 1924, in Yukon, a daughter of the late Andrew Sr. and Rose (Pastor) Hensberger. Mrs. Andriechack was a homemaker. Her memberships included Seven Dolors Roman Catholic Church, Yukon, and the Seven Dolors Christian Mothers. Mrs. Andriechack, "Roseann, " is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Andriechack; a son, Gerard J. and his wife, Cindy, of Yukon; a granddaughter, Jennifer Rae; and a brother, Andrew R. "Junior" Hensberger Jr. of Yukon. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, Tuesday from 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Seven Dolors R.C. Church, Yukon, with Father Thomas W. Rogers as celebrant. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery. The Seven Dolors Christian Mothers will meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. The Andriechack family is accepting flowers, and also suggests memorials to the Seven Dolors R.C. Thomas W. Bowers, 72, of Greensburg, formerly of Altoona and Smithton, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, in the Weatherwood Manor in Greensburg, after an extended illness. He was born in Lowber, June 12, 1927, and was a son of the late Leonard and Olive Gertrude Ridenour Bowers. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later in the Naval Reserve Units. He had attended the Methodist Church in Lowber during his youth. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, and was a well-known barber in the Altoona area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers, David, Leonard, Clyde, and Kenneth. He is survived by his daughter, Susan E. Bowers of Hollidaysburg; two sons, Thomas W. Jr. and Ricky A. Bowers of Altoona; his granddaughter, Maria; and a great-grandchild, Noah Tomas Bowers. There will be no public viewing. A private service will be held at a later date. Margaret A. Callaghan, 93, of Allison Park, formerly of Latrobe, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at her home. She was born Nov. 14, 1906, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late William L. and Mary Josephine Swartz Gilligan. She was a former member of Holy Family Church and St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. She was a graduate of Latrobe High School, class of 1926, and graduated in 1930 from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Callaghan; a daughter, Carol C. Callaghan; two grandsons, Robert C. Frisky Jr. and Patrick Ondriezak; five brothers, William Louis, John, Robert, Thomas, and Charles Gilligan; and two sisters, Caroline Mock and Anna Mary McCommon. Survived by a son, William I. Callaghan and his wife, Ethel, of Painesville, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Ann Ondriezak of Allison Park, with whom she had made her home with for the past 10 years; a brother, James Gilligan of Monroeville; 16 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent Basilica. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township.
George R. "Sarge" Chopp, 80, of Sutersville, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Borough, after a brief illness. He was born April 7, 1919, in Smithdale, a son of the late John and Barbara Lesso Chopp. He worked for Consol Coal for 44 years. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Sutersville, and the church's Holy Name Society. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also a 50-year member of the VFW #7812, West Newton. Beloved husband for 51 years of Helen (Klus) Chopp. He was the loving father of four children, Carolyn Reilly and Constance Chopp, both of Philadelphia, George Chopp Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Diane Kriss of Uniontown. Also, two grandchildren, Johanna Helen and Zachary George Reilly; two sisters, Helen Kezmoh of Arizona and Evelyn Chopp of Sutersville; a brother, Andrew Chopp of Sutersville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Sutersville, with the Rev. James D. Vasil as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will be in West Newton Cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Marian Francis Hughes, 78, of Williamsburg, Va., died at her home on Monday, Nov. 15, 1999. Marian is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Edward Hughes; her children, James E. Hughes III of Vienna, Va., Susan Gilligan of Williamsburg, Va., Marcia Moran of Naples, Fla., and Mimi Hughes of Salem, Mass.; a sister, Evelyn Price of Falls Church, Va.; a sister-in-law, Virginia Ann Hughes of Gaithersburg, Md.; grandchildren, Jane Audet of Connecticut, John Moran of Naples, Fla., Matthew Gilligan of Williamsburg, Va., and Laurel Moran of Naples Fla.; and a great-granddaughter, Lainey Audet. George E. Morlet Jr., 74, of Blairsville RD4, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, at his home. He was born Dec. 2, 1924, in New Eagle, a son of the late George Sr. and Gladys (Smith) Morlet. He was a member of United Methodist Church, New Alexandria. He was retired from Blairsville-Westinghouse. Survived by a daughter, Mrs. Clifford P. (Donna) Wissinger; a grandson, Clifford L. Wissinger; and a granddaughter, Christina Wissinger, all of Blairsville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice (Edsall) Morlet, in November of 1998. Friends will be received at the JAMES F.
