John F. "Jack" Kenney Sr., 75, of Crabtree, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Feb. 25, 1924, in Crabtree, a son of the late George Sr. and Catherine McClain Kenney. After attending public school in the Greensburg Salem School District, he attended St. Vincent College. During World War II, he served in the European Theater as a platoon sergeant and saw action in the Ardennes Forest during the Battle of the Bulge. In addition to being a lifelong Democrat and active in Democratic party circles, he was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, the Crabtree Volunteer Fire Department, the Jeannette American Legion, and served on the Salem Township and Greensburg Salem Recreation Boards. He gave much of his time to guide and direct young people by coaching little league, pony league, prep league and American Legion baseball. He served on the Greensburg Salem School Board for 19 years and represented the school district on the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit Board for 15 years. As a member of the Greensburg Salem and WIU boards, he negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements with both professional and classified employees. He was employed by Kennametal Inc. for 20 years, was a District Justice for two years and served as a Workers Compensation Judge in the PA Department of Labor and Industry for 27 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Paul; two brothers, George Jr. and William; a sister, Ann Januck; and two infant sisters. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Marguerite Ferlin Kenney; his son, Dr. Jack Kenney Jr. of Greensburg and his wife, Peggy, and their two children, Justin and Jessica; his daughter, Maureen Fleck of Greensburg and her husband, Jim, and their daughter, Danielle; his son, Patrick Kenney of Winter Springs, Fla., and his wife, Posie, and their children, Kellie, Shane, Katie and Megan; his son, Dr. Donald Kenney of Columbia, S.C., and his wife, Lael, and their children, Manya, Emma and Madison; his son, Kevin Kenney of Columbus, Ohio, and his son, Ryan; and his granddaughter and the daughter of his deceased son, Ronald, Deanna Lynn Hrosik of Hudson, Ohio, and her husband, Mike, and their children, Haley and Ryan. He is also survived by his sister, Rita McFeeley of Greensburg and her husband, John; his sisters-in-law, Eleanor Kenney of Crabtree and Peggy Kenney of Latrobe; his brother-in-law, Joe Januck of Natrona Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, (724) 837-0020, Monday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 A.M. in St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Crabtree. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree, accorded by VFW Post #33 Honor Guard, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John F. Kenney Sr. Scholarship Fund, c/o Dr. John F. Kenney Jr., 404 Sheffield Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601. Natale N. Pantalone, funeral director. St. Bartholomew Rosary Altar Society will hold services Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
Belinda R. Patrizio, 92, of Murrysville, formerly of Oakmont, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999. She was born Oct. 5, 1907, in Friuli, Italy, a daughter of the late Guido and Teresa Martina Fussaro. She lived in Oakmont from 1927 to 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Patrizio, in 1969; a grandson, Ronald Stoll, in 1982; and a sister, Josephine Edmunds. She is survived by a son, William Patrizio and his wife, Sally, of McMurray; two daughters, Dolores Patrizio of Rockville, Md., and Geraldine Stoll of Murrysville; a brother, Rudolph Fussaro of Oakmont; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation was Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. If desired, memorials may be made to the Ronald Stoll Trail, c/o the Municipality of Murrysville, Recreation Department; or to one's favorite charity.
Alice M. Ward Ralph, 87, of Shafton, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999. She was born Jan. 8, 1912, in Shafton, a daughter of the late Thomas Edison and Anna Marie (Clark) Ward. She was a homemaker, and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Irwin, and the Ladies Auxiliary F.O.E. #1671, Irwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Ralph; a son, Elmer W. Ralph; a brother, William Ward; and a sister, Margaret Hawk. Survived by a son, Ronald G. Ralph and wife, Phyllis, of Greencastle; a grandson, Ronald L. Ralph and wife, Anita, of Greensburg; and a great-granddaughter, Brook Painter. Friends will be received at the VINCENT V. RODGERS FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Frank M. Sherman officiating. Interment Irwin Union Cemetery.
Evelyn R. Gulentz, 78, of Murrysville, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999. She was born June 13, 1921, in Sharpsburg, a daughter of the late Clayton and Mary Mullen McClarin. She was a member of the Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville, and the Plum Tops Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Gulentz, in 1992; a grandson, Raymond Gulentz, in 1998; and a sister, Mary Margaret McClarin, in 1998. She is survived by a son, John D. "Don" Gulentz Jr. of Murrysville; a daughter, Patricia Todaro of Trafford; a granddaughter, Barbara Cass of Saltsburg; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Mother of Sorrows Church with Father Joseph Trupkovich as celebrant. Entombment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
H. Clara Kerekes, 79, of Monessen Boulevard, Monessen, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, in the Mon-Valley Hospital. Born Sept. 26, 1920, in Jerome, Somerset County, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine Balut Krofcheck. She had been a secretary for the former St. Leonard's Church from 1960 to 1980. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Monessen, and the National AARP. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Pvt. Louis G. Katsuleris, who was killed in Germany in 1945; her second husband, Michael F. Kerekes, in 1984; her stepfather, Frank Wozniak; two brothers, Stanley and Anthony Krofcheck; two stepbrothers; and a stepsister. Survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, George L. and Judy Katsuleris of Upper St. Clair and Anthony L. and Mary Ann Katsuleris of Monongahela; a daughter and son-in-law, J. Maria and Louis S. Sepe of Washington, Pa.; four stepchildren, Michael A. Kerekes of Arizona, Karen Filapose of Irwin, Marlene Kowall of Monessen, and Valerie Porreca of North Carolina; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Josephine Czmiel of Washington, Pa. Friends will be received at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Boulevard, Monessen, Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at the Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Monessen. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
Lucia (Lucille) Martchek, 65, of North Huntingdon, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at her home. She was born Jan. 9, 1934, in Braddock, a daughter of the late John and Verna Wisniewski. She was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Martchek; her daughter, Geraldine Wagner; a brother, Bernard Wisniewski; and a sister, Florence Wisniewski. She is survived by her son, Glenn and his wife, Debbie Martchek, of North Huntingdon; three brothers, Jack, Thomas and Robert Wisniewski; and three grandchildren. Friends will be received at the SHIRLEY-KUKICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Clay Pike, Circleville, North Huntingdon, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
J. Lewis Medsger, 90, of Bullskin Township RD2 (Connellsville), died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at his home. He was born April 13, 1909, in Bullskin Township, a son of the late Jacob and Amy Keller Medsger. Mr. Medsger was self-employed as owner of Pennsville Farm and Garden in recent years. He remained a farmer his entire life, in addition to being a feed representative for Eastern States Feeds. Mr. Medsger was a 50-year member of the Pleasant Valley Grange and a member of Mt. Olive Evangelical Church of North America. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 61 years, Anna Maude "Maudie" Bitner Medsger; a daughter, Marjory Conn and her husband, Norman, of Bullskin Township; a son, Philip L. Medsger and his wife, Sandra, of Roann, Ind.; a daughter, Carol Gillott and her husband, David, also of Bullskin Township; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Orlo K. Medsger. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the MURPHY-CARUSO MEMORIAL HOME, 303 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale. Daniel J. Murray, 83, of Turtle Creek, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999. Beloved husband of Helen (Jones) Murray. Loving father of Donna L. Barber and husband, Dan, Janet L. Johnson and late husband, Ed, and Daniel R. Murray and wife, Eileen. Grandfather of Jodi and Andrew Barber, Brian Johnson, and Connie and Kevin Murray. Mary Strauss Noll, 64, of O'Hara Township, on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999. Wife of Walter Noll. Mother of Virginia Noll Cassidy and Peter Noll. Grandmother of Kevin and Peter Cassidy. Sister of Charles F. Strauss and Joseph W. Strauss, and the late Sister M. Immaculate, Anne, Edward J., Richard A., and Philip F. Strauss. Dr. Strauss Noll was a professor of English at Penn State University, New Kensington Campus. Sam Panucci, 65, of Brookline, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999. Son of the late Rocco and Lena Panucci. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Aveni Panucci; a sister, Mary Grace Gourley; and his mother- and father-in-law, Dominic and Mary Aveni. Father of Joseph (Shirley), Rocco (Maria), Theresa, Domenic (Tammy), Marisa (Chuck), and Marc Panucci. Grandfather of Jade, Sam, John, Kala, Adam, Alaina and Anthony. Brother of Nick Puglin, Josephine Rosenberger and Vince Panucci. Mr. Panucci was director of catering for the (Westin) William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. Friends will be received at the BRUSCO-FALVO FUNERAL HOME, 214 Virginia Ave., Mt. Washington, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Loreto Church, Brookline, Saturday at 11 a.m.
