Richard T. "Dickie" Robertucci, 58, of Scottdale (Upper Tyrone Township), passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 28, 1999, at his residence. Dickie was born in Hempfield Township, March 24, 1941, a son of the late George and Raphael Mary Zucco Robertucci. Dickie was a former tool and die maker with Modulus Corp. in Mt. Pleasant, prior to the plant's closure, and more recently was employed as a machinist at C&K Composites in Bridgeport. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale. Dickie will be remembered as a hard working, loving father and grandfather, and an excellent cook to his family and friends. Dickie is survived by his former wife and friend, Alice; four loving children, Mary K. McKnight and husband, Jay, of Scottdale RD1, George H. Robertucci at home, Christopher A. Robertucci and wife, Lisa, of Kingview, and Maria D. Black and husband, Samuel, of Scottdale; and five loving grandchildren, Jesse McKnight, Brittany and Nicholas Robertucci, Kailyn Robertucci, and Jessica Black. In addition to his parents, Dickie was preceded in death by a son, Richard T. "Dickie" Robertucci Jr. in 1973, and a granddaughter, Angela D. McKnight in 1981. Family and friends will be received at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Private interment
in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a word of appreciation to the Westmoreland Hospice for all their care and comfort.
Louise M. Wall, 94, of Export, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999. She was born Sept. 7, 1905, in Export, a daughter of the late Robert and Grace Hill Schake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. Wall. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Bauermann of Clearwater, Fla., Mary Lou Condon of Pensacola, Fla., and Faye Trent of Export; a son, Leonard R. Wall of Palm Beach Garden, Fla.; two sisters, Faye Indrunas of Lakeland, Fla., and Virginia Del Torre of Turtle Creek; two brothers, Richard and the Rev. Jack Schake, both of Irwin; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the JOHN T. HART FUNERAL HOME, Murrysville. A service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Father William McGuirk officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
Ludwig "Lud" Bogaty, 77, of Penn Hills, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at his residence. Born July 16, 1922, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Ludwig and Mary Fliss Bogaty. He was retired from the Union Railroad, a Navy veteran of World War II, member of the Universal Moose and American Legion Post #980 in Plum. Husband of the late Margaret Bogaty. Beloved father of James C. Bogaty of Berryville, Va., Karen M. Humphrey of Flanders, N.J. and Kathy A. Bogaty of Purcellville, Va. Brother of Virginia Smith of Monroeville and Hedy Plasynski of Arnold. Grandfather of Justin J. Bogaty, Tiffany Ann Fegley, Ashley E. Bogaty and Austin J. Humphrey. Preceded in death by a brother, Albert Bogaty. Friends received Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MAURICE L. KNEE LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Road, Plum. Charles Ellsworth Bowers, 79, of Claysville, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in the Humbert Health Care Center, Washington, Pa. He was born April 17, 1920, in Canonsburg, a son of the late James B.N. and Pearl M. Briggs Bowers. Mr. Bowers was a member of Claysville United Methodist Church. Mr. Bowers attended Washington-area schools and Connelley Vocational School in Pittsburgh. He worked for Hazel Atlas Glass from 1937 to 1939, then in electrical maintenance for Jessop Steel from 1940 to 1950. From 1957 to 1958, he worked for the National Annealing Box Co., returning to Hazel Atlas from 1958 to 1960. He was with National Annealing Box again from 1960 until his retirement in 1981. During World War II, Mr. Bowers served in the U.S. Army, in the Headquarters Company, 26th Infantry, 3rd Battalion of the First Infantry Division, known as the "Blue Spaders, " seeing action in the European Theater. Mr. Bowers was formerly a member of the Protected Home Circle. He was a member of the Washington County Antique Bottle Club, the Three Rivers Depression Era Glass Society, the Duncan Miller Glass Society, the Imperial Glass Society, the Fostoria Glass Society and Washington Metal Detector Club. He was president of the proposed Charles N. Brady Memorial Glass Museum. On Sept. 18, 1939, in Washington, Pa., he married M. Mauveline Wheeler. Mrs. Bowers died on April 1, 1984. Mr. Bowers is survived by two sons, Charles M. Bowers and Carl W. Bowers Sr., both of Washington, Pa.; two sisters, Hazel A. Bowers Miller of Wolfdale, Pa., and Zinnetta J. Bowers Galarneau of Zephyrhills, Fla.; four grandsons, U.S. Navy Lt. Charles Emery Bowers, Kevin Andrew Bowers, Carl Wayne Bowers Jr. and Matthew Scott Bowers. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Ellsworth Bowers, who died in infancy; a brother, James E. Bowers; and a sister, Thais V. Bowers Barley. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the PIATT & BARNHILL FUNERAL HOME, 420 Locust Ave., Washington, Pa., where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
Thomas Cummins, 79, of Jeannette, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. Born in Jeannette on June 4, 1920, the son of the late William and Margaret Wallace Cummins. For many years, he was a music instructor having his own studio in Jeannette. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jeannette. Survived by his wife, Marie Ewing Cummins; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Heller and her husband, Robert, of Ventnor, N.J.; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Drengwitz and her husband, Edwin, of Greensburg. Friends will be received at the LAWRENCE J. McCLURE FUNERAL HOME, 112 N. Second St., Jeannette, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service in the funeral home chapel Wednesday morning at 11 with the Rev. David D. Hunte officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Penn Township.
Stephen J. Dlusky, 87, of Jeannette, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 23, 1912, in Jeannette, a son of the late Bronislaw and Michalina Matuszkowna Dlusky. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the former Jeannette Glass Corp. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Jeannette, past president of the Polish Brotherhood of White Eagle for 25 years, and a member of the Polish National Alliance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Bartosh Dlusky; three brothers, Stanley, Bernard, and Joseph Dlusky; and two sisters, Stella Proneker and Eleanor Williams. He is survived by a daughter, Adrienne "Audrey" Zeoli and her husband, Michael, of Jeannette; two grandchildren, David and Valerie Zeoli; a brother, Thomas Dlusky and his wife, Alice, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
John B. Harhai, father of Monessen mayor and Pennsylvania state Representative R. Ted Harhai, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in Mon Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. Mr. Harhai was born in Monessen, May 5, 1915, the son of the late Theodore and Catherine Bolwka Harhai, and had been a resident all of his life. Graduate of Monessen High School in 1934 and California State Teacher College in 1939. He also attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He received his Master's of Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1951. He taught from 1944 to 1945 at Territown Academy for Boys in New York. While attending college, he worked at the former Pittsburgh Steel Corp. during the summers. He taught in the Monessen School District for 46 years. Member of P.S.E.A. and N.E.A., and former vice president of the Monessen Education Association. He formerly served as an alderman and on Monessen City Council. A member of Mon Valley Umpire Association for 60 years. He also served as Boy Scout master and a certified Red Cross swimming and first aid instructor, and a member of the Mon Valley Chapter Baseball Association. Besides his son, R. Ted Harhai, he is survived by his wife, Dolores Walker Harhai, with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on Dec. 23; a daughter, Kathleen Harhai of Stafford, Va.; three sons, John J. and wife, Celesta Harhai, of Mechanic Station, N.J., Kenneth Harhai of Houston, Texas, and Dr. Thomas and wife, Jean Harhai, of York; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Marsha) Ribovich and Mrs. Michael (Evelyn) Stazetski, both of Monessen; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Monessen. Funeral services Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Monessen Public Library through the funeral home.
M. Maude Lucas, 86, of Ligonier, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born April 11, 1913, in Ligonier Township, a daughter of the late John Hibbert and Catherine Jane Johnston McConnaughey. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a bank teller for Mellon Bank in Ligonier. She was a member of the Heritage United Methodist Church, Ligonier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Lucas, in 1984; three brothers, John C., Floyd M., and Josiah E. McConnaughey; and four sisters, Effie Piper, Elizabeth Keffer, Alice Woodburn, and Belle Noel. She is survived by a daughter, Audrey L. Weimer of Ligonier; a granddaughter, Wendy S. Phillips; two great-granddaughters, Amber and Carly Phillips; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Catherine) Stough of Ligonier RD2; and two brothers, Robert E. "Spike" McConnaughey of Ligonier and Paul W. McConnaughey of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald F. Cook officiating. Interment Ligonier Valley Cemetery, Ligonier. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Heritage United Methodist Church, Ligonier.
Gilbert C. "Gil" Markle, 58, of Marina, Calif., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, in Fresno, Calif., as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in McKeesport, Aug. 6, 1941, a son of the late Clarence F. and Catherine Lash Markle. He was raised in West Newton and graduated from West Newton High School. He received his bachelor's degree in horticulture from Penn State University and graduated from Officer's Candidate School in Newport, R.I. He had attended the Naval Justice School and American University in Washington, D.C. He was operations manager for Harris Moran Seed Co., Salinas Pelleting Facility. He served with the Navy ROTC from 1960 to 1962 and with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968. Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Peg" Jones Markle; three daughters, Tracey Ballard of Louisville, Ky., Jennifer Dickinson of Owensboro, Ky., and Betsy Pittman of Salinas, Calif.; a brother, James C. Markle of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a sister, Margaretta Branthoover of Fairport Harbor, Ohio; and three grandchildren. Friends will be received in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon, the time of funeral services. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery.
Frances V. Miedel, 84, of Derry, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at Oak Hill Nursing Center, Greensburg. She was born April 7, 1915, in Snydertown, a daughter of the late Stephen and Veronica Sobota. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe, and its Rosary Altar Christian Mothers. Also, she was a member of the Jednota Lodge and retired from the former American Cyanamid, Latrobe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Paul Francis Miedel; and a number of brothers and sisters. Survived by her husband, Paul H. Miedel; a daughter, Theresa Mullen of Latrobe; a sister, Agnes Graziano of Derry; and three grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. Thomas Lukac as celebrant. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Unity Township. St. John Rosary Altar Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
