Herman H. Langkamp III, age 73, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, in Forbes Hospice, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. Born in Wilkinsburg on Oct. 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Herman H. and Ruth Morganroth Langkamp Jr. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of science in bacteriology in 1955 and a master of science in pharmacognosy in 1966. Mr. Langkamp worked as an associate professor of microbiology for the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine before retiring in 1998 with over 30 years of service. A highlight of his distinguished career was his development of the Sterilization Equipment Evaluation Service (SEES) Program, an infection control procedure utilized by the American Dental Association, O.S.H.A. and the Center for Disease Control. He accomplished this independently as a service to the school, the dental profession and the community. He was also a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Langkamp is survived by one son, Dr. Karl Langkamp of Norman, Okla.; two brothers, James Langkamp of Gahanna, Ohio, and Frank Langkamp of Bethel Park; one sister, Marley Roberts of Bethel Park; two grandsons, Cameron and Owen Langkamp of Norman, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Bailey Langkamp, who died Dec. 16, 1996. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a time and date to be announced. Prominent litigator, veteran, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Cloyd "Mel" Rowe Mellott, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001. Born in McConnellsburg, Pa., on Feb. 16, 1923, he was the son of Wesley and Alice Mellott. He is survived by his wife, Lois Williams Mellott of Fox Chapel; his daughter, Deborah L. Mellott of Madison, N.J.; his son, Christopher R. Mellott; daughter-in-law, Jean J. Mellott; two grandsons, Matthew R. Mellott and Peter J. Mellot, all of Baltimore, Md.; and his brother, Carl W. Mellott, also of Baltimore Md. Mr. Mellott was a founder and former chairman of the Pittsburgh law firm of Eckert, Seamans, Cherin and Mellott, formed in 1958. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at H. SAMSON INC., 537 N. Neville St., Oakland, and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Interment private. Mildred (Hunter) Miller, 82, on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Rose James Hunter. Mrs. Miller was a member of AARP Homestead Park #1751, Munhall Garden Club, Homestead Women's Club, Order of the Eastern Star #139 Homestead Chapter and Hays United Methodist Church. Wife of the late John F. Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Tony) Barr of Elizabeth Twp.; her son, Robert (Darlene) Miller of Jefferson Hills; a sister, Ruth Timmins of Lincoln Place; two brothers, Robert Hunter of Virginia Beach, Va., and John J. Hunter of Lower Burrell; a granddaughter, Jennifer Barr; and a grandson, Jacob Miller. Patricia L. (Yankosky) Miller, 54, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001. Beloved wife of Calvin H. Miller; loving daughter of George Yankosky Sr. and the late Pauline (Butera) Yankosky; sister of George and his wife Lynn Yankosky Jr., and Paula Kos. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Miller taught for over 16 years at St. Mary's in New Kensington. She was also employed at CVS Pharmacy and Pharmor. Memorial Mass Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church. Antoinette R. "Netta" (McDonald) Schloer, 78, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Allegheny General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Schloer. Survived by three sons, Leonard M. Schloer of North Side, James E. Schloer of Wexford and Robert T. Schloer of Ross; one daughter, Regina A. Kolodziej of Brighton Heights; five grandchildren, Leonard, Brian, Karen, Thomas and Lindsey; three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by four brothers, Elmer and Wilbert Hadley and John and James McDonald; three sisters, Ruth Hadley Smith, Margaret Hadley Johnson and Jean McDonald Darsteck. Raymond J. Ackerman, 79, of New Alexandria, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at the IHS at Mountain View, Unity Township. He was born June 23, 1920, in Youngstown, Pa., a son of the late Curtis and Ethel Losier Ackerman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in Europe, Africa, and Sicily. He was retired from Agway Petroleum in Greensburg. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, New Alexandria. He also belonged to the New Alexandria Grange, American Legion Post 652, and the VFW Post 5821, Blairsville, and the AARP. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marjorie Shaffor Ackerman; two sisters, Mary Millen and husband, John, and Jane Gyenes and husband, Joe; a sister-in-law, Diane Ackerman; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria, where services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lota C. Jones, pastor of the New Alexandria United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, New Alexandria, with full military honors.
Elisabetta Tavella DiRenzo, of Shaler Township, on Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999. Mrs. DiRenzo was a homemaker. Beloved wife of the late Guiseppe DiRenzo. Mother of Lina DiFiore of Shaler Township, Teresa Scalamogna of Pittsburgh, Philip DiRenzo, Paul DiRenzo, and Rocco DiRenzo, all of Shaler Township, and Carmen DiRenzo of Pittsburgh. Sister of Teresa Naruccio of Toronto, Canada, Pasquell Tavella of Pittsburgh, and Antonio Tavella and Guiseppe Tavella, both of Toronto. Also 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Helen Harenski Dublino, 89, of Jeannette, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born June 25, 1910, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Kathryn Reinke Harenski. Helen received her education at the University of Pennsylvania, and was employed as a dental hygienist and retired from the Sacred Heart School in Jeannette, where she was a teacher for many years. Helen also was part owner/operator of the former Dublino Dairy Bar of Jeannette. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Jeannette, the church's Rosary Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Amore E. Speranza No. 57. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. Dublino, in 1998; five brothers, Anthony, Jesse, Paul, John, and Harry Harenski; and four sisters, Vera Harenski, Eleanore Miller, Irene McDonald, and Ursula Serro. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, beginning Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. The Sacred Heart Rosary Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Amore E. Speranza No. 57 will pray the rosary Monday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
