Alice D'Alessio
Funeral services for Alice (Landoch) D'Alessio were held Friday, May 24, from Sansone Funeral Home, with a concelebrated Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. The Rev. James J. Verdelotti was the celebrant and the Rev. Michael Colello concelebrated and was the homilist for the Mass. Laurie Bowers and Karen Sykes were the readers. Her sister, Jane Pavent, and brother-in-law and Chris Anderson presented offertory gifts.
Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, where Father Verdelotti read the committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Boiani, Michael L. Boiani, Jason P. Leary, Kenneth L. LeComte and Eric J. Anderson.
Mrs. D'Alessio of Sherman Avenue died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at home. She was the wife of the late Edward A. D'Alessio and the late John Laba.

Alice (Landoch) D'Alessio, 83, of 45 Sherman Ave. died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at home. She was the wife of the late Edward A. D'Alessio and the late John Laba.
Born and raised in Fall River, a daughter of the late Ludvik and Elizabeth (Drabicka) Landoch, she lived in Swansea before moving to Bristol many years ago.
Mrs. D'Alessio was a homemaker and a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
She leaves a sister, Jane Pavent of St. Petersburg, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Nancy Boiani, Helen LeComte, Joseph Landoch and Stanley Landoch.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., with a concelebrated Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, State Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Thursday, May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mabel DePalma
Funeral services for Mabel (Lopes) DePalma were held Friday, May 10, from Sansone Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth's Church.
The Rev. Thomas J. Ferland was the celebrant and homilist for the Mass. Offertory gifts were presented by Mrs. DePalma's son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Ann DePalma.
Burial followed in North Burial Ground, where Father Ferland read the committal prayers. The eulogist was grandson Kenneth A. Ambrose. Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth A. and Christopher K. Ambrose, Dean J. and Alan A. DePalma, John A. Sicignano and Drew Pansa.
Mrs. DePalma, 83, of 168 Franklin St. died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Desilets Nursing Home in Warren. She was the wife of Anthony "Brush" DePalma.

Irene M. Hague
Grandmother of five lived here for 51 years
Irene M. (Tierney) Hague, 84, of Brookwood Drive, and formerly of O Drive, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. She was the wife of the late Ernest C. Hague.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late John J. and Ethel (Thornley) Tierney, she spent her youth in Fall River and was a resident of Westport for 51 years.
Mrs. Hague enjoyed gardening and was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Fall River.
She leaves two daughters, Judith A. Bedard and Kathleen M. Caroselli, both of Westport; a son, Jeffrey E. Hague of Westport; and five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ethel C. Taylor, Ellen Destremps and John J. Tierney Jr.
Arrangements were by Cherry Place Home of Waring-Sullivan in Fall River.
Wilfred Desrosiers
Retired machinist, World War II veteran
Wilfred Desrosiers, 80, of Tickle Road died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Marguerite (Chasse) Desrosiers.
Born in Fall River on Feb. 17, 1922, he was a son of the late Edmond W. Desrosiers and Victoria (Gosselin) Desrosiers Lindsey.
Mr. Desrosiers was a machinist for 30 years for B.I.F. in Warwick, R.I., until his retirement. He was previously employed at the Davis Mill in Fall River as a printer.
Mr. Desrosiers was a World War II Army veteran.
In his youth, he enjoyed softball, bowling and fishing. He also played in a country western band.
He leaves three daughters, Jacqueline Gallant, who cared for him at her home in Westport; Pauline Desrosiers of Fall River and Renee Russo of Warwick; two sisters, Lillian Givens of Fall River and Anna Gagne of Rhode Island; a brother, George Desrosiers of Somerset; and four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, from Boulé Funeral Home in Fall River. A Mass was held in Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport.

Rose (Antunes) Manchester, 65, of Fall River died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at home. She was the wife of Kenneth Manchester of Westport.

Helen J. (Smith) Trueblood, 94, of Westport Point died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at the Adams House after a brief illness. She was the wife of Lorman C. Trueblood.
Elizabeth H. Phillips
Leaves a son in Barrington
Elizabeth H. Phillips, 90, of Bass River, Mass., died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Presidential Oaks in Concord, N.H. She was the wife of the late Earle G. Phillips.
Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Herbert and Rebecca (Morton) Holway, she was a graduate of Barnstable High School in Hyannis, Mass., and the Swain School of Art in New Bedford. An artist, she designed and hand-painted candles for the Colonial Candle Company in Hyannis; she was a nature lover and enjoyed the ocean.
She leaves a son, Earle G. Phillips Jr. of Barrington; a daughter, Gail Heil of Contoocook, N.H.; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 29, in the Federated Church in Hyannis. Burial followed in Bayview Cemetery in Sandwich, Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you give your time and love to the elderly.

Antone V. Correia
Retired caretaker of Jencks estate
Antone V. Correia, 98, of Barker Avenue died Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Grace Barker Nursing Home. He was the husband of Marcia (Nunes) Correia to whom he was married since 1931.
Born in Faial, Açores, he was a son of the late Antone V. and Maria (Andrade) Correia.
Mr. Correia was the caretaker for the Robert Jencks estate in Seekonk for over 40 years before retiring.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, George M. Correia of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Anthony H. Correia of Addison, Vt.; a brother, Alfred V. Correia of Tiverton, and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Joseph, Joaquim and Manuel Correia.
His funeral will be held today, May 29, at 8 a.m. from Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., with a Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery.

Enjoyed reading poetry aloud, playing the piano
Lucy Elsoffer, 48, of 69 Wood St. died Monday, May 20, 2002, at Rhode Island Hospital.
She grew up in Barrington and attended Barrington schools.
Ms. Elsoffer enjoyed poetry and music. She played the piano and often read poetry aloud to her friends at The Off Center Coffeehouse on Child Street.
She leaves her father, John Elsoffer of Warwick, and a brother, Jay Elsoffer of New York.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 28, at Church of the Holy Spirit in Warren.

Bernard Kaufman, 82, of Michael Drive, Portsmouth, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Esther (Guy) Kaufman.

General manager of Swift Meat Co., avid golfer
Jeremiah J. Barry Jr., 76, of Middle Road, Portsmouth, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Born in Newport on June 17, 1925, he was a son of the late Jeremiah J. and Helena T. (O'Sullivan) Barry.
Mr. Barry was general manager of Swift Meat Co. in San Antonio until his retirement. After retiring, he moved to Rhode Island.
He was an avid golfer and was a member of Wanumetonomy Golf and Country Club and Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth.
He was a member of the Hibernians, Knights of Columbus, Elks Club and St. Barnabas Church, Portsmouth.
He leaves two sons, Jeremiah J. Barry III of Pickney, Mich., and Kevin Barry of Yanklon, S.D.; two sisters, Helena T. Mason of Newport and Sheila E. MacKinnon of Middletown, and seven grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mary Santela and Daniel P. Barry.
His funeral was held on Tuesday, May 28, at St. Barnabas Church. Burial was in St. Columba's Cemetery, Middletown.

Barbara A. Hazel, 71, of Brayton Road, Tiverton, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Rose Hawthorne Lathrop Home in Fall River. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. hazel.
Ann Marie Silvia
Avid gardener and skilled knitter
Ann Marie (Souza) Silvia, 63, of 55 Foxboro Ave., Portsmouth, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Newport Hospital.
Born in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Peters) Souza.
Mrs. Silvia had worked as a special education bus aide for Laidlaw Transit Co. until her retirement last year. She was an avid gardener and skilled knitter.
She leaves two sons, Kevin A. Silvia of Tiverton and James M. Silvia of Portsmouth; three daughters, Cynthia A. Fontaine and Cheryl M. Perry, both of Tiverton, and Stephanie L. Detusa of Portsmouth; a brother, Arthur J. Souza of Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister, Jessica R. Vieiria of Cape Coral, Fla., and 10 grandchildren.
Her funeral was held Monday, May 27, at Connors Funeral Home. Burial was private.
Manuel Silvia
Cup Defenders member leaves a brother here
Manuel Silvia, 66, of Ft. Myers, Fla., and formerly of Bristol, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, after a long illness. He was the husband of Gerry Silvia.
Born in Bristol, he was a son of the late Manuel and Valeda (Normandin) Silvia. He lived in Bristol for most of his life before moving to Florida 15 years ago
Mr. Silvia had worked at George Dahl in Bristol and was a former member of the National Guard, the Elks and Moose, the Cup Defenders and the Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Silvia leaves a son, Manuel Silvia of Acton, Calif., and two grandchildren; a stepson, Sean Dylan of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a brother, Richard Silvia of Warren; and two sisters, Mary Dorsey of Bristol and Valeda Silva of Fall River. He was a brother of the late Frank (Q.Q.) and Robert Silvia.
Mr. Silvia was previously the husband of the late Barbara (Coelho) Silvia and father of the late Steven M. and Lorna Lee Silvia.
Memorial services are pending. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.

Richard G. Pineau, 61, of Eaton Street, Fall River, died Friday, May 24, 2002, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Linda L. (Hunt) Pineau, and the former husband of the late Catherine M. Pineau.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Gerard and Imelda (Richard) Pineau. He was a lifelong Fall River resident.
Mr. Pineau was a production specialist for Raytheon in Portsmouth for 35 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Sakonnet Sportsmen's Club in Tiverton. He was an avid fisherman.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Catherine and Sandra Pineau, both of Fall River, and Patricia Laroche of Swansea; two sons, Michael J. Pineau of New Hampshire and Carlton Pineau of Fall River; a brother, Gerald Pineau of Tiverton; two sisters, Cecile Pimental of Somerset, Mass., and Lorraine Pineau of Minnesota, and 11 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
His funeral was on Sunday, May 26, at Auclair Funeral Home in Fall River, followed by cremation.

Ruth E. Chlebek, 83, of Main Road, Tiverton, formerly of Grinnell Avenue, Tiverton, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at home. She was the wife of Edward Chlebek to whom she had been married for 62 years.
Anibal T. Oliveira
Machine operator at Kaiser Aluminum
Anibal Tavares Oliveira, 86, of 75 Montgomery St., Tiverton, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Grand Islander Nursing Home in Middletown. He was the husband of Zelia (Pereira) Oliveira.
Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Joseph Tavares Oliveira and the late Beatrice Gloria (Faria) Oliveira. He had lived in Tiverton since 1984.
Mr. Oliveira worked as a machine operator for Kaiser Aluminum in Portsmouth before retiring.
He served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was the recipient of the ETO Ribbon with two battle stars and the American Defense Ribbon.
He was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church in Tiverton.
Beside his wife, he leaves five sons, Edward Oliveira of Fall River, Thomas Oliveira of Dartmouth, Mass., Arthur Oliveira of Tiverton, Stephen Oliveira of Westport and Robert Oliveira of Swansea; three daughters, Beatrice Lopes of Newport, Susan Oliveira of Tiverton and Ann Marie Oliveira of Fall River.
His funeral was on Monday, May 20, from the Pocasset Funeral Home, Tiverton, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Theresa's Church. He was buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.

Raymond J. Martel, 80, of Old County Road died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Hilda (Martin) Martel.

Carpenter, lived in Westport most of his life
Clinton E. Wood, 84, of Westport died Thursday, May 16, at home.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Milton E. and Alice (Bruckshaw) Wood, he lived in Westport for most of his life.
He was formerly employed as a carpenter.
Mr. Wood enjoyed restoring tractors and automobiles and spending time outdoors.
He leaves a sister, Avis Ironfield, of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Marion Stafford and Milton B. Wood.
