Hugh J. Allen, 73, a resident at Silver Creek Manor on Creek Lane died Thursday, Jan 28, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence.
Born in Providence, a son of the late George A. Allen Jr and Salome J. (LaPointe) Allen, he had lived in Bristol for 20 years. He was a Naval and Army veteran of World War II.
He leaves a brother, Leo FX Allen of Warwick; a sister, Marion Jackson of Warwick, and two nieces and two nephews.
A committal service was held Tuesday at the Rhode Island Veterans' Cemetery in Exeter. Cremation followed at the Cremation Society of Rhode Island. The Rev. Owen Goodwin officiated.
Emilio Tosone
Veteran of World War I
Emilio Tosone, 98, died Saturday, Jan 30, 1999, at Silver Creek Manor, Creek Lane He was the husband of the late Silvia (Lavinia) Tosone.
Born in Coppito, Italy, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tosone, he lived in Bristol for six years, previously living in Lawrence, Mass. He was a World War I veteran, serving as a sergeant in the Italian Army. Following his service, he owned the former Emo's Barber Shop in Lawrence for many years until his retirement.
He leaves two sons, Mario Tosone of Barrington and Anthony Tosone of Riverside, and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Aurelio Tosone.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Rebello Funeral Home in East Providence, with a Mass of Christian burial in Holy Angels Church in Barrington. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lawrence.
Edward Joseph
Leaves relatives in Bristol
Edward Joseph, 53, of 161 Randolph Ave, Tiverton, died Tuesday, Feb 2, 1999, at St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Deborah Joseph.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Manuel and Irene (Sellar) Joseph, he was a commercial truck driver for JJ Web, Inc. of Bristol for five years. A former Portsmouth resident, he had lived in Tiverton for 28 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Edward Joseph, Jr. and Lance E. Joseph, both of Tiverton; two daughters, Brittany Joseph and Alexandria Joseph, both of Tiverton; two brothers, Manuel Joseph and Frank Joseph, both of Bristol; two sisters, Margaret Chetham of Swansea and Theresa Silvia of Portsmouth; and two grandsons, Edward Joseph III and Brandon Joseph, both of Tiverton.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Feb 5, at 11 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
Salvador S. Tavares
Funeral services for Salvador S. Tavares were held Wednesday, Oct 13, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial at Saint Elizabeth's Church. The Rev. Joel Oliveira was the celebrant for the Mass and read the committal prayers at the burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Arthur Moniz, Manuel Carvalho, John Sousa, David Tavares, Joe Sousa and Mike Sousa.
Mr. Tavares died Friday, Oct 8, 1999.
Charles E. Self, Jr.
Vietnam veteran, English instructor
Charles E. Self, Jr., 46, of 50 Opechee Drive, Bristol, died Thursday, Oct 14, 1999, at Roger Williams Medical Center, following a sudden illness. He was the husband of Carol (Sears) Self. The two married this past July 26 on his birthday.
Born in Riverside, Calif, he was the son of Bobbie J. (Woodard) Britt of Bakersfield, Calif, and the late Charles E. Self Sr. An English as-a-second-Language (ESL) instructor for 15 years in Bakersfield, Mr. Self retired in 1996.
He was a US Army veteran of Vietnam.
Mr. Self was a supply minister, being ordained in 1990 as a minister in both the Ministry of Salvation Church in California and the Universal Life Church in Modesto, Calif.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a a daughter, Sarah Self, a son, Jonathan Self, and three sisters.
Funeral services and burial are private.
William J. Quinn
World War II vet, American Tourister employee
William Joseph Quinn, 72, of Bray Lane died Saturday, Oct 9, 1999, at Miriam Hospital in Pawtucket. He was the husband of Jean (Croasdale) Quinn. Born in Mahoney City, Pa, he was a son the late William and Katherine (Mulvey) Quinn.
Mr. Quinn was a supervisor at American Tourister before retiring in 1992.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Quinn attained the rank of master chief petty officer. He was a member-at-large of the VFW and a member of the fleet reserve association of Newport.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three brothers, Robert Quinn of New York and Francis and John August of Pennsylvania; a sister, Alice Estrada of Virginia, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved dog, Princess.
A memorial service was held at the Chapel in Colt State Park on Saturday, Oct 16. Friends and family are invited to attend.

Funeral services were held for Samuel A. Pasqua on Friday, Oct 15, 1999, from the Sansone Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. The Rev. James J. Verdelotti was the celebrant for the Mass. The Rev. Benjamin Barboza, Deacon, was the Homilist and assisted at the Mass. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery where Father Verdelotti read committal prayers.

Mr. Pasqua, 83, of 47 Garfield Ave, died Tuesday, Oct 12, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret B. "Peggy" (West) Pasqua.

William Furtado
Boxer and owner of Towne Laundromat
William Furtado, 89, of Wood Street died Oct 14, 1999, at Roger Williams Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Beatrice (Ferreira) Furtado.
Born Sept 26, 1910, in Aqua do Pau, St. Michael's, A‡ores, Portugal, he was a son of the late Filomeno and Maria (Garrafa) Furtado.
Mr. Furtado worked for Collins and Aikman as a textile worker for 25 years until the facility located in Bristol closed. He then went to work for the Raymond Construction Co as a carpenter until he became the owner of the Towne Laundromat, originally located on Wood Street and later moved to the intersection of High Street and Constitution Street. He owned and operated the laundromat for 20 years before retiring in 1979.
He was an amateur boxer in the 1930s in the welterweight class.
"He learned to box at the YMCA here in Bristol," said his daughter, Carol Dulac. "And in 1936 he was a contender for the welterweight championship."
Mr. Furtado scored a TKO over Ralph Zannelli who went on to become a professional boxer and New England champion. As an amateur, Mr. Zannelli fought Sugar Ray Robinson and Henry Armstrong.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Furtado is survived by two daughters, Dorrinne Galland of Donaldsonville, La., and Carol Dulac of Prague, Czechoslovakia Republic; a sister, Mary Aloia of Bristol, and three grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Manuel Furtado.

Lydia C. (Teixeira) Federico
Holy Rosary Sodality, loved family and friends
Lydia C. (Teixeira) Federico, 70, of 25 Bourne St., Bristol, died Sunday, Oct 17, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital following a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Joseph A Federico.
The daughter of the late John and Angelina (Martins) Teixeira, she was a lifelong resident of Bristol.
Mrs. Federico was a department supervisor at the Cherry & Webb department store in the Wampanoag Mall, East Providence, for the past 25 years.
A communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church, she was a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality. She was a graduate of Bristol's Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1947. She was a member of the Hope Circle #70, Daughters of Isabella, Bristol, the Bristol Senior Citizens Council and the Knights of the Corte Reais Society, Bristol.
Ms Federico's children remember her for the wonderful Italian meals she prepared and her passion for the family and community.
"She was an excellent cook, and she was a very devout mother and an extremely loving grandmother," said daughter Janice E. Thivierge, a Bristol resident. Her mother was also active a friend to many, she said.
"She was always helping people in the community."
Besides her daughter, Ms Federico is survived by two sons, Kenneth J. Federico of South Attleboro, Mass, and Steven J. Federico of Bristol; and four grandsons, Gregory J. and Ryan J. Thivierge, both of Bristol, and Matthew J. and Christopher L. Federico, both of South Attleboro.
She was sister of the late Gilbert Teixeira.
Funeral services were held from the Sansone Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct 20, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth's Church. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Vincent J. Andreozzi
Air Force veteran leaves sisters in Bristol
Vincent J. Andreozzi, 65, of Monson, Mass, died Saturday, Oct 16, 1999, at the home of his sister, Rosalie Louro of Warren. He was the husband of Joan W (Wellman) Andreozzi.
Born in Barrington, he was a son of the late Guiseppe and Mary (Cortellessa) Andreozzi. He had lived in Monson for more than 30 years.
Mr. Andreozzi was an Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War. He attained the rank of staff sergeant. He also served in the Air Force National Guard at Westover Air Force Base for more than 30 years. He received the National Defense Service Medal.
Besides his wife and sister, he leaves three sons, Joel O. Walker of Las Vegas, Nev, Dennis Paul of Monson and Richard Paul of Chicopee, Mass; a brother, Joseph Andreozzi of Barrington; eight other sisters, Columbia Jiacovelli, Sylvia Almeida, Marie Pinheiro, and Christina Duval, all of Barrington, Anna Ferrara and Linda Mullen, both of Bristol, Natalie Dallaire of Warren, and Eleanor Guimares of East Providence, and three grandchildren.
His funeral was held yesterday from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary of the Bay Church, Warren. Burial was in Hillcrest Park Cemetery, Springfield, Mass.
Charles E. Lambert
Poultry farmer leaves brother in Bristol
Charles E. Lambert of Birch Swamp Road, Warren, died on Friday, Oct 15, 1999, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was 85.
Mr. Lambert was married to the late Mary (Viveiros) Lambert. Born in Warren, he was a son of the late Arthur and Laura (Belanger) Lambert.
Mr. Lambert was a lifelong resident of Warren. Before retiring in 1985, he was employed as a poultry farmer for Mason and Chace Farm for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Metacom Avenue.
Mr. Lambert leaves two sons, Arthur J. and William Lambert, both of Warren; a daughter, Anne Faria of Goode, Va; three brothers, Louis Lambert of Bristol, Norman Lambert of Swansea and Roger Lambert of Port Charlotte, Fla; a sister, Rena Conti of Barrington; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Laura Pimental and Alice Marsello.

Frances Ann DaPonte, 61, of Bay View Avenue died Sunday, Oct 17, 1999.
Born in Providence, she was daughter of the late Antonio DaPonte and Jessie (Chaves) DaPonte.
Ms DaPonte lived in Bristol all her life. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1956. She went on to earn a bachelor of arts degree from Providence College in 1979.
An insurance supervisor for the Amica Insurance Company, she worked in the Providence office for 30 years and then at the Lincoln office for eight years.
Ms DaPonte was a member of the Daughters of Mary at St. Elizabeth's Church, Bristol.
She is survived by two brothers, Anthony J. and Thomas J. DaPonte of Bristol; three sisters, Mary C Haddad of Byfield, Mass, Martha E Gagnon of Attleboro, Mass, and Madeline M Norton of Warren, and 11 nieces of nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, Oct 22, from 4 to 8 pm at the George C. Lima Funeral Home, Bristol.

Maria DaRosa Carvalho, 71, of Charles Street, Bristol, died Oct 14, 1999. She was the wife of the late Manuel Carvalho.
Born in Sao Miguel, A‡ores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Charles and Ana (Sousa) DaRosa, she lived in Bristol for the past 31 years since moving from the A‡ores.
Ms Carvalho was an inspector for American Tourister in Warren for 21 years before retiring in 1990.
She is survived by three sons, John and Lee Carvalho of Bristol, and Carlos Carvalho of Warren; three daughters, Connie DeMelo of New Bedford, Mass, Venilia Matthews of Fall River and Sarah DeMelo of North Dartmouth, Mass; three brothers, Carlos Rosa of Warren and Jose and Manuel Rosa of Toronto, Canada; a sister, Rosalina Sousa of the A‡ores, Portugal; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Leslie R. Olson, 88, of King Philip Avenue died Thursday, Oct 14, 1999, at Crestwood Nursing and Convalescent Home, Warren. He was the husband of Leah (VanCampen) Olson. They were married for 52 years.
Born in Quincy, Mass, a son of the late William and Hanna (Anderson) Olson, he was a sales manager for Addressagraph Multigraph in East Providence for 43 years before retiring in 1972.
Mr. Olson was a member of the Shriners Kora Temple of Maine and the Wollaston Lodge, AFAM, Quincy, Mass.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert Olson of East Providence and William Olson of North Attleboro; a daughter, Hazel Ann Souza of Bristol; a brother, Ralph Olson of Westwood, Mass; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Olson was the great-grandfather of the late Dwight D. Luther.

Keith B. Murray of Ryan Avenue, Bristol, died Sunday, Oct 3, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was 46.
Born in Fall River, a son of Madeline J (Tavares) Murray and the late Owen Bernard Murray, he lived most of his life in Warren, having also lived in Barrington and Bristol.
Mr. Murray was a billet molder for 16 years at Furon/Dixon, Bristol.
He was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God, Swansea.
Besides his mother, he leaves three sons, Jason Murray of Fall River and Michael and Matthew Murray, both of Bristol; twin daughters, Rosemary and Sally Murray, both of Bristol; two brothers, William H. Doherty of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla, and twin Kevin O. Murray of Ft Lauderdale, Fla; an aunt, Joan Kennedy of Warren; and an uncle, Dr. John J Murray of Clearwater, Fla.
His funeral was Thursday, Oct 7, at the Abundant Life Assembly of God, Swansea. Burial was private.
Angelo P. Pirri
Lifelong resident, World War II veteran
Angelo P. Pirri, 74, of 108 State St. died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was a lifelong Bristol resident.
Born in Bristol, a son of the late Giuseppi and Francesca (Ciccio) Pirri, he worked as a labor negotiator for the state for 15 years, retiring in 1990. Before that, he worked at Carr-Fulflex in Bristol, where he served as union president for the workers union.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Bristol Democratic Town Committee, Cup Defenders Association, Swansea Country Club and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer.
He leaves a daughter, Celeste M. Roy of Fall River; three sisters, Annie P. Cavallaro, Leonora Cirillo and Pauline Rapoza, all of Bristol; two brothers, Pasquale A. and Frank D. Pirri, both of Bristol; two grandchildren, Marc Tavares of Bristol and Courtney Devine of Fall River; and his longtime companion, Terry Harris of North Providence. He was a brother of the late Antonetta Oliveira.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. today, April 20, from Sansone Funeral Home, with a prayer service of final commendation at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. A memorial Mass will be offered Monday, April 24, at 7 p.m. in the church.

Maria Carolina D'Oliveira, 97, of Creek Lane, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of the late Jose Agostinho D'Oliveira.
Born in Minho, Portugal, a daughter of the late Miguel P. and Maria Aurora (Sousa) DeVasconcelos, she lived in Forest Hills, N.Y., before moving to Bristol 52 years ago. She was a homemaker.
She leaves a son, Julio D'Oliveira of Warwick; two daughters, Maria Aurora Perry of Bristol and M. Adelaide Nunes of Portsmouth; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late M. Fernanda Jamison.
Funeral services were held yesterday from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth's Church. The celebrant was the Rev. Thomas J. Ferland.

Elmer A. Rounds
Graduated from Colt High School in 1933
Elmer A. Rounds, 85, of 92 Beach Road died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, following a four-month illness. He was the husband of Rhea (Mainville) Rounds.
Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Hiram A. and Minnie (Henderson) Rounds. A 1933 graduate of Colt Memorial High School, he worked for 42 years as a general foreman in the bare wire and cabling department of the former Kaiser Aluminum Corp. in Bristol, retiring in 1975. He previously worked at the former U.S. Rubber Co. in Bristol.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the medical corps at the 107th General Hospital Unit in Wales. As a communicant of St. Michael's Church, he served as the assistant treasurer and was an usher at the 8 a.m. Mass for years. He was a member and a former president for many years of the Beach Terrace Improvement Association.
He leaves two daughters, Rhea E. Eshelman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Tina Barboza of Bristol; two sons, Andrew A. Rounds of Bristol and Kenneth B. Rounds of Barrington; eight granddaughters, Tracy L. Boucher of Long Beach, Calif., Wendy M. Middendorf of Cincinnati, Caryn, Paige E. and Kelly J. Burlingame of Jacksonville, Sharen Barboza-Whitehead of Warwick, N.Y., and Kayla B. and Alyssa J. Rounds, both of Barrington; and three great-granddaughters, Hannah Burlingame of Jacksonville, Addison Boucher of Long Beach and Dana Middendorf of Cincinnati. He was the father of the late Daniel J. Rounds and brother of the late Elizabeth Munro.
His funeral service was held yesterday at St. Michael's Church. Burial with military honors followed in the North Burial Ground. Arrangements were by the Sansone Funeral Home.

Roseline M. "Roz" (Maturi) Pontes, 81, of 45 Woodlawn Ave. died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Edward S. Pontes.
Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Antonetta (Celella) Maturi. She worked as a supervisor of volunteer services for over 30 years at the Rhode Island Veterans' Home on Metacom Avenue, retiring in the early 1980s.
A graduate of Colt Memorial High School, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the church's Rosary and Altar Society. She was a life member of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, an honor she received in 1993, and served on the committee for over 30 years, working as a secretary and chairwoman of many subcommittees. She was a member of Hope Circle 70, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Corte Reais Society, Bristol Senior Citizens Council and the American Association of Retired Persons.
She leaves a daughter, Rosemary P. Chase of Bristol; two grandchildren, Allison Chase Padula and Edward "Teddy" Chase, both of Bristol; a grandson-in-law, Paul M. Padula of Bristol; and a brother, Michael Maturi, and sister, Lavinia Pagnano, both of Barrington. She was a sister of the late Josephine Cortellessa, Caroline Baum and Peter and Henry Maturi.

Capoverdi, Jr. was the celebrant for the Mass and was assisted by Paul Bisbano, deacon. Allison Chase Padula was the reader, and Edward "Teddy" Chase and Paul J. Padula presented the offertory gifts.
Burial followed at North Burial Ground, where Father Capoverdi read the committal prayers. Members of the Rosary and Altar Society served as an honor guard, and pallbearers were Edward "Teddy" Chase, Paul J. Padula, Nicholas M. Conti, Nicholas M. Conti, Jr., Louis G. Conti and Michael A. Maturi.

Edmund Oliver, Jr
Longtime resident, antique car collector
Edmund Oliver, Jr., 66, of Juniper Court died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
Born in Bristol, and a resident of the town for much of his life, he was the son of the late Edmund Oliver, Sr. and Angelina (Terra) Oliver. He was a certified public accountant and taught accounting at the Community College of Rhode Island for many years before retiring in 1996.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church, and was the owner of the former Do-Flicker Antiques in Warren. He was a member of the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America. He collected antique cars and attended many car club cruises.
He leaves many cousins, Joseph Cadieux of Harrisville, William Cadieux and Emily Conetta of Woonsocket, George Terra of Rehoboth, Charlotte McGee and Alfred and Alan Terra of Texas, William and James Terra of Hope, Dorothy Rice of West Greenwich, Robert Terra of Bristol, Frances Cook of Warren and Susan Austin of Marshfield, Mass.
His funeral took place Tuesday from the Connery-Smith Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth's Church. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
Joseph R. "Jack" Aguiar
Lived in Bristol for 59 years
Joseph R. "Jack" Aguiar of 4 Garfield Ave. died Thursday, April 13, 2000, at Metacom Manor Health Center, 1 Dawn Hill. He was 90.
Mr. Aguiar was married to the late Palmira "Mabel" (Santos) Aguiar. Born in Warren, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rosaline (Gonsalves) Aguiar.
Mr. Aguiar lived in Bristol for 59 years. He was a machine operator for 30 years at the former Coats and Clark Co. in Warren before retiring in 1977.
Mr. Aguiar was a life member of Rough & Ready Engine Company 5 of the Warren Fire Department and a peacetime veteran of the Army.
He leaves three daughters, Dolores A. Swan of Texas, Joyce E. Biancuzzo of Warren and Deborah J. Aguiar of Bristol; four sisters, Laura Jamieson, Frances Ducharme, Florence Godard and Josephine Turner, all of California, and six grandchildren. He was the father of the late Joseph R. Aguiar, Jr. and a brother of the late May Gomes, Rosaline Pimental, Rose LaBrie and Morris, Anthony, Manuel and John Aguiar.
His funeral was held Saturday from the Sansone Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary's Church. The Rev. Barry J. Gamache was the celebrant for the Mass, and was assisted by Eucharistic minister David E. Barboza. Mr. Aguiar's daughters, Joyce E. Biancuzzo and Deborah J. Aguiar, presented the offertory gifts. His granddaughter, Jennifer Biancuzzo, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Aguiar, were the readers. His son-in-law, Gerald Biancuzzo, was the eulogist. Ashley Hewitt was the soloist and a violinist, Maggie Hewitt was a violinist and Sheila Schattle was the organist.
Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, where Father Gamache read the committal prayers. Serving as pallbearers were Robert J. Higgins, Rocco M. Pardi, Martin T. Hewitt and Mark J. Arel.

Guilhermina Toti
Enjoyed crocheting and her grandchildren
Guilhermina "Gilly" Toti, 88, formerly of Warren, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Linda Hawkins, in Seekonk. Mrs. Toti was the wife of the late Vincenzo Toti.
Born in Santa Barbara, St. Michael, the Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Tavares) Arruda. Mrs. Toti moved to the United States while she was in her 20s, living in Warren for 60 years until moving in with her daughter 7 years ago.
A homemaker, Mrs. Toti was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church where she was a member of the Holy Spirit Committee. She loved to crochet and play cards, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Besides her daughter Linda, she leaves four sons, Everett "Jim" Toti of San Diego, Calif., Ralph Toti of Warren, Robert Toti of Clearwater, Fla., and Walter Toti of Vero Beach, Fla.; another daughter, Juliette Whalon of Barrington; three sisters, Belmira DaSilva of Fall River, Rose Albernaz of Swansea and Hilda Raposa of Bristol; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Domingos, Eduardo, Jose, Joao, Antonio and Manuel Arruda, Clotilda Marques, Maria Benevides and Palmeda DaCosta.
Her funeral was on Monday, May 5, from the William J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She was buried in St. Alexander's Cemetery in Warren.

Louise Hetland
Laboratory secretary at Newport Hospital
Louise Goyette Hetland, 92, of 20 Common Fence Blvd., Portsmouth, formerly of Newport, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at 20 Common Fence Blvd., Portsmouth. She was the wife of Walter H. Hetland.
Born in Quebec, Canada, on August 11, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Amedee Goyette and the late Ernestine (Lemerise) Goyette.
Mrs. Hetland was a laboratory secretary with Newport Hospital, retiring after 22 years there. She graduated from Bryant College of Business, then in Fall River.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Lorraine Moller of West Springfield, Mass., a brother, Louis Goyette of Fall River; a sister, Lucille Goyette of Portsmouth, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was the mother of the late Wallace A. Martland.
Her funeral was held Tuesday, May 6, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony's Church, Portsmouth. Burial was private.
