Lifelong Warren resident, loved to bake and cook
Elena M. "Ella" Mello, 94, of Silver Creek Manor in Bristol, formerly of 53 Vernon St., Warren, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of the late Frank Mello.
Born in Warren, she was a daughter of the late Rocco and Assunta (Muccino) Primiano. She was a lifelong Warren resident.
Mrs. Mello had been employed at Lloyd manufacturing as a sliter for 25 years, before retiring in 1975. She was a member of the United Rubber Workers Association.
She was a lifelong and active member of St. Mary of the Bay Church where she often baked for bake sales and other church events.
She loved music and enjoyed singing and also cooking.
She leaves one son, James Mello of Rixeyville, Va.; two daughters, Barbara A. Valente and Virginia Mello, both of Warren; two brothers, Albert and Frank Primiano, both of Warren; two sisters, Flora Sevigny and Ora Vitullo, both of Warren, and Rita DiMatteo of Barrington; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Louis Primiano, Josephine Del Santo and Lucy Sevigny.
Her funeral was on Saturday, March 27, from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home in Warren, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary of the Bay Church. She was buried in St. Alexander's Cemetery in Warren.
Carolyn O'Brien
Lived in Barrington
Carolyn O'Brien, 66, of Newcastle, Maine and Vero Beach, Fla., and formerly on Barrington, died Monday, March 29, 2004, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. She was the wife of Rev. James H. O'Brien Jr.; they were married for 45 years.
She was born Dec. 26, 1937 in Taunton, Mass. and was a winter resident of Vero Beach for seven years. She had resided in Barrington from 1972 to 1981 while her husband was minister at the First Congregational Church.
Mrs. O'Brien was a registered nurse and provided both hospital nursing and home health care nursing. She was a graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1958, in New Bedford.
She was a member of the Second Congregational Church-United Church of Christ in Newcastle and the Community Church-United Church of Christ in Vero Beach.
She was a member of the Taniscot Engine Company Volunteer Fire Department, the Lincoln Festival Chorus in Booth Bay Harbor, Maine; the Coastal Chorale in New Harbor, Maine; and the American Field Service (AFS) Foreign Student Exchange Program.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Kathryn L. Maeda of Madisonville, Tenn.; son, David N. O'Brien of Lewiston, Maine; two brothers, Robert C. Copeland of Littleton, N.H., and Donald Copeland of Boxboro, Mass.; and grandchildren, including Erika, Emily Katherine and Joshua Maeda, and Tucker and Caleb O'Brien.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 1 at the Community Church-United Church of Christ in Vero Beach, with Dr. Norman Pavey officiating.

Helen R. Palumbo

Helen R. Palumbo, 84, of 28 Barrington Ave., died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at the Grace Barker Nursing Center in Warren. She was the wife of Joseph R. Palumbo; they had been married for 63 years.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Vincenza (Derisi) Ricciardi, she was a resident of Barrington for 48 years.
She was a former saleswoman and supervisor at Cherry and Webb.
She was a communicant of Holy Angels Church in Barrington.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Joseph R. Palumbo Jr. of Middletown and David J. Palumbo of Barrington; two sisters, Mary Pantano and Marguerite Mambo, both of Cranston; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was also a sister of the late Joseph Ricciardi.
The funeral was held Tuesday from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, Warren, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Angels Church. Burial was at Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Barrington.
Richard Charles Salisbury
Leaves daughter in Barrington
Richard Charles Salisbury, 78, of Grantham, N.H., died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Clough Extended Care Center in New London, N.H., following a brief illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Burns) Salisbury; they had been married 57 years.
Born in Boston on Sept. 4, 1925, a son of the late Dr. Howard F. and Alvina (Bond) Salisbury, he worked in sales and was also a consultant, most recently for Redwood Sportswear. He was a 20-year resident of Eastman, N.H. and had formerly lived in Medfield, Mass.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Caryl Salisbury of Barrington, R.I.
Services will be private. Oresto S. 'Sarry' Saracino
Communicant of Holy Angels
Oresto S. "Sarry" Saracino, 88, of 184 Church St., died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at Rhode Island Hospital, in Providence. He was the husband of Anita E. (Iannucci) Saracino. They had been married 64 years.
Born in Barrington, a son of the late Louis and Carmella (Quanta) Saracino, he had lived in the town all his life.
Mr. Saracino was a communicant of Holy Angels Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Steven Saracino of South Kingstown; two daughters, Anna Holland of Hope and Louise Lombardi of Barrington; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Thursday from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, in Warren, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Angels, in Barrington. Burial was at Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Barrington.
Maria "Eugenia" Sebastian

loved crocheting and reading
Maria "Eugenia" (Horta) Sebastian, 88, of Patterson Ave., Warren, and formerly of Almeida Drive, Warren, and of Bristol, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jose Rodrigues Sebastian.
Born in Seekonk, a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Rose Julia (Silva) Horta, she lived in Seekonk for 10 years before moving to Sao Miguel, the Açores, for 17 years. She returned to the United States, living in Bristol for 27 years and in Warren for the last 34 years.
Mrs. Sebastian worked for Collins & Aikman from 1942 to 1959, Bristol Manufacturing Co. from 1960 to 1966 and Lloyd Manufacturing from 1966 to 1976, before retiring.
She loved crocheting, reading, her family and her faith. In Nov. 2003, she returned to her childhood home in Sao Miguel with her daughter, granddaughter and great-grandchildren after 61 years to "take a walk down memory lane." That was one of her last and greatest fulfillments.
Mrs. Sebastian leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Paul Patterson of Warren; a brother, Humberto Horta of Bristol; a granddaughter and her husband, Paula and Greg Ormond; and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Britney Ormond. She was the sister of the late Armand Horta, Hilda Macedo and Olga Grillo.
Her funeral will be Thursday, April 1, at 9 a.m.. from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., Bristol, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Metacom Avenue, Warren. She will be buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, March 31, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Theresa J. Binette
Travel agent for Cruise Brothers and My Travel, active in church
Theresa J. (Machado) Binette, 48, of Briggs Road, Westport, formerly of Davis Street, Fall River, died Monday, March 22, 2004, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Paul H. Binette.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of Joseph Machado of Cumberland, R.I., formerly of Fall River, and the late Amelia "Emily" (Farias) Machado. She lived in Westport for the past nine years.
Mrs. Binette worked as a waitress for St. Michael's Club in Fall River and as a a travel agent for Cruise Brothers in Providence and My Travel in Dartmouth. She also worked as a manicurist, phlebotomist and garment worker.
She was an entertainment committee chairperson for Relay for Life and a former CCD teacher at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Fall River and Our Lady of Grace Parish in Westport. She was a volunteer at St. Anne's Hospital.
Besides her husband and father, she leaves two stepsons, Paul and Mark Binette, both of Fall River; a stepdaughter, Kellie A. Levrault of Fall River; six sisters, Madeline Byrne of North Carolina, Bernadette Botelho, Rosemary DaPonte and Claudette Cooper of Fall River, Susan Dootson of Assonet and Beverly Maccarone of Wareham; a brother, Robert Machado of Pawtucket, R.I.; eight step-grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held at 9 a.m. Friday, March 26, from the Auclair Funeral Home in Fall River, followed by a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Grace Church in Westport. Interment was in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Claire Poisson
Campfire leader worked in Westport public schools
Claire (Dussault) Poisson, 58, of Westport died Monday, May 24, 2004, at the New England Medical Center. She was the wife of Gerald Poisson.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of Adele (Bois) Dussault of Fall River and the late Albert Dussault.
Mrs. Poisson was a former Campfire leader and a member of the choir at Our Lady of Grace Parish. She lived in Westport for the past 25 years.
She was a bus monitor at Tremblay Bus Co. in addition to working in the Westport school system.
Mrs. Poisson enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles.
Besides her husband and mother, she leaves two daughters, Christine Poisson of Westport and Nicole C. Poisson of Warwick, R.I.; two brothers, Richard Dussault of Taunton and Alan Dussault of Woburn; two sisters, Diane Mooney of Swansea and Vivian Piccinisco of Dartmouth; and one grandson.
She was the mother of the late Albert C. Poisson.
A funeral was held Friday, May 28, from the Boule Funeral Home in Fall River, followed by a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Grace Church. Interment was in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
Anita Bucknell
Worked for Visiting Nurses and as a docent
Anita Bucknell, 70, of West Main Road, Little Compton, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Mariner Health Care of Southeastern Massachusetts after a long illness.
Born in New York City, a daughter of the late William Harlen and Anita (Rathbun) Bucknell, she grew up in Norwalk, Conn., and moved to Little Compton in 1977.
She worked for the Visiting Nurse Association of Little Compton, and was a docent for the Preservation Society of Newport County.
She received a bachelor's degree in chemistry and physics from Mount Holyoke College in 1957, and a master's degree in teaching, physics and chemistry from Rhode Island College in 1967.
She was a member of Amicable Congregational Church, Tiverton, where she served as a deaconess.
She enjoyed arts and crafts.
She leaves a brother, William H. Bucknell in New Hampshire; and two nephews and three nieces. She was the sister of the late Laura Knudsen.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Potter Funeral Home, Westport.
Doris R. Intondi
Retired bookkeeper, leaves daughter in Warren
Doris R. Intondi, 75, of 1014 Hope St., Bristol, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at home. She was the wife of the late Ralph V. Intondi.
Born in Stamford, Conn., on May 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Ocie G. (Burns). Lookwood. She had lived and worked in Stamford for many years before moving to East Providence for six years and later to Bristol.
A bookkeeper, Mrs. Intondi had been employed at Sattva Chemical Company in Stamford in the bookkeeping/accounting department for more than 20 years, retiring in 1992.
She enjoyed making puzzles, crocheting, hooking rugs and bingo.
She laves a son, John M. Intondi of Suwanee, Ga., two daughters, Myra Intondi of Warren and Sue-Ellen Reiser of Lawrenceville, Ga.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her funeral was on Friday, May 28, from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, with the Rev. James P. Keller conducting a funeral ceremony.
Rosemarie Mitchell
Molly Pitcher Award recipient, leaves son in Warren
Rosemarie Mitchell, 61, of 39 Warren Ave., formerly of 1287 Main Rd., Tiverton, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of John E. Mitchell Jr.
Born in Newport on July 8, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elvira (Russell) Jarvis.
Mrs. Mitchell received the Molly Pitcher Award from the 103rd Field Artillery of the Rhode Island National Guard. She was a communicant of St. Lucy Church in Middletown.
She loved working with ceramics and doing needlepoint.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Michael Joseph Andrews of Antioch, Tenn., David Allen Andrews of Flint, Mich., and Adam Joseph Mitchell of Warren; a daughter, Diane Andrews of Pawtucket; a stepdaughter, Lori Devos of Newport; a brother, Donald Jarvis of Middletown; a sister, Elizabeth Jarvis McDonald of Carroll, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
Her funeral was on Saturday, May 29, from Memorial Funeral Home, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Lucy Church. She was buried in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.
Ethel Augusto
Tiverton resident, worked for electronics companies
Ethel (Cordeiro) Augusto, 81, of 345 Hancock St., Tiverton, died Sunday, May, May 23, 2004, in the Catholic Memorial Home, Highland Avenue, Fall River. She was the wife of the late Henry C. Augusto.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Candida (Farias) Cordeiro.
Mrs. Augusto had resided for many years in the Newark, N.J., area, and was employed at various electronics and tube-manufacturing plants before returning to the Tiverton area in 1975.
She leaves two sons, Henry C. Augusto of Tiverton and David Augusto of West Caldwell, N.J.; three sisters, Genevieve DaSilva of Point Pleasant, N.J., Tina Rego of Pacific Grove, Calif., and Candida Forgus of Dunellen, N.J.; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Nancy Hamway, and the sister of the late David Cordeiro.
Services were held Wednesday, May 26, at the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.
