Mary Grant
Former Warren resident, leaves brother here
Mary Grant, 86, of Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Harrisburg, Pa., formerly of Warren, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, Pa. She was the wife of the late James D. Grant.
Born in Warren, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Nunciata (Andrewance) Galinelli.
Mrs. Grant had been employed at Roger Williams Hospital.
She leaves a son, James R. Grant, and his wife, Gloria Grant, of Middletown, Pa.; three sisters, Margaret Silvia of Tennessee, Violoa Raposa of Fall River and Carmella Gemma of Connecticut; two brothers, John Galinelli of Warren, and Joe Galinelli of Barrington; and two grandchildren, Crystal and Mary Grant.
Funeral services were handled by William J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Alexander's Cemetery.
Jose S. Gomes
Leaves family in East Providence
Jose S. Gomes, 72, of Laura Street, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, in Miriam Hospital, Providence.
He was the husband of Leodina S. (Silva) Gomes.
Born in Cedros, Faial, Azores, he was a son of the late Antonio F and Maria (DaSilva) Gomes.
He worked in the housekeeping department in Butler Hospital for ten years, previously working as a machine operator at American Insulated Wire for 26 years. He retired in 1998. Mr. Gomes was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters, Maria L. Pereira, Catarina S. Gomes and Susan S. Rodrigues, all of East Providence; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Filomena Gomes DaSilva.
His funeral was held Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 9 a.m., from the Perry McStay Funeral Home, in East Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, Mass., 01710-4688.
Manuel Viera
Owned Island Oil Company
Manuel Viera, 83, of 46 Norwood Ave Portsmouth, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown. He was the husband of Mildred D. (Silvia) Viera.
Born in Little Compton on Dec. 9, 1921, he was the son of Gene Viera and Hortense (Almeida) Viera.
Mr. Viera began Island Oil Company in 1970 and worked for himself there until 1977 when he retired.
He worked for Fairholm Diary in Portsmouth for many years as a driver, and later worked for Hedley Oil Company, also in Portsmouth.
He was a member of Saint Anthony's Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Viera two daughters, Shirley Chace and Kathleen Viera Beaudoin, both of Portsmouth; five brothers, Gene Viera Jr., James Viera, and Benjamin Viera, all of Portsmouth, Alfred Viera of Florida, and William Viera of Bristol; five sisters, Olivia Gomes of Bristol, Estrella Miley of Tiverton, Eleanor Silvia of Florida, Eva Lima of Middletown, and Josephine Fournier of Massachusetts; one granddaughter, Barbara Sherman; and three great-grandsons, Nicholas, Michael and Zachary Sherman. He was the bbrother of the late Angelian Fava and Joseph Viera.
His funeral was held on Monday, Feb. 14 from the Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Anthonys Church, Portsmouth. Burial was in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
Elsie L. Durfee
Leaves family in Westporrt
Elsie L. (Correia) Durfee, 88 of New Bedford, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Bedford Village Nursing Home after a long illness. She was the widow of former New Bedford Police Chief Gifford L. Durfee.
Born in East Taunton, a daughter of the late Joseph and Isabel (Rose) Correia, she was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Prior to her retirement she was a waitress at M & K Restaurant in New Bedford for many years.
Se leaves a son, Don G. Durfee and his wife Leslie of Goffstown, N.H.; a daughter, Leona E. Andrade and her husband Robert of Westport; a sister, Agnes Austin of Taunton; four grandchildren, Albert Andrade, Valerie Andrade, Katherine Clohessy and Jennifer Durfee; one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Frank Correia, Anthony Correia, Leo Correia, James Correia, Mary Correia, Lena Fontes and Flora Ferry.
Private funeral arrangements are under the direction of Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport.
Delinda Santos
Lifelong Tiverton resident, retired weaver
Delinda (Mello) Santos, 84, of 15 Rock St., Tiverton, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at home. She was the wife of the late Antone R. Santos.
Born in Tiverton, a daughter of the late Manuel Mello Botelho and the late Mary (Andrade) Botelho, she was a lifelong resident of Tiverton.
Mrs. Santos was employeed for many years as a weaver for the former Bourne Mill before retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton. She enjoyed crocheting.
She leaves a daughter, Madeline Lavoie of Tiverton; a sister, Mary Botelho of Tiverton; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Joseph Santos and the sister of the late Manuel Botelho.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 8 a.m. from the Oliveira Funeral Home, 215 Columbia St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in Holy Ghost Church. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
Arthur De Fusco
Navy veteran,

Arthur De Fusco, 87, of Bristol, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Roger Williams Hospital. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Abenante) De Fusco.
Born in Barrington, a son of the late Tomasso and Sabatina (Acciardo) De Fusco.
He was a wire worker at Kaiser Aluminum, in Bristol and Portsmouth for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
He served in the Navy during World War II as a Seaman First Class.
He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and enjoyed sunsets.
He leaves a son, Arthur De Fusco Jr. of Bristol; three daughters, Joyce Pastore of Bristol, and Joan Asciola and Jean Miller, both of Riverside; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral with military honors was Saturday, Feb. 5, from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.

Adele A. Bouchard
Homemaker, grandmother of 11 was involved in church activities
Adele A. (Fanning) Bouchard, 68, of Naples, Fla., and Westport died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2005. She was the wife of Robert A. Bouchard.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John Fanning and the late Adele (Filar) Fanning. She lived in the Fall River area for most of her life.
Mrs. Bouchard was a homemaker.
She was a commicant of St. Patrick's Church in Fall River and was involved in church activities in Naples, Fla.
Besides her husband of more than 50 years, she leaves two sons, Robert S. Bouchard of Tiverton and Barry R. Bouchard of Beverly Hills, Fla.; three daughters, Brenda Shea of Little Compton, Dale Abdow of Westport and Dorine Viera of Fall River; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was the granddaughter of the late Sebastian and Annie Filar.
Edward Orzeck
Served on aircraft carrier during W.W. II
Edward Orzeck, 81, of Goose Creek, S.C., formerly of Westport, died Tuesday, Feb 1, 2005, with his family by his side.
Born in Amesbury, Mass., a son of the late Charles Orzech and Anna (Dziekan) Orzech, he lived in Westport prior to moving to Goose Creek three years ago.
During World War II, he served in the Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger.
Prior to retirement, he worked at a number of textile plants, eventually working his way up to head colorist at the former Newport Print Works off Brayton Ave.
He loved baseball, football and bowling, and came within a few pins of bowling a 300 game.
Besides his wife Blanche (Denham) Orzeck, Mr. Orzeck leaves two sons: Mark Orzeck of Westport, MA and Edward C. Orzeck of Portsmouth, RI., and one daughter Sandra Christie of Goose Creek, SC. He also leaves behind a sister, Stella Smith of Fiskdale, MA, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony was held.
Nicholas L. 'The dude' DiSalvo
Navy veteran of the Vietnam War
Nicholas L. 'The dude' DiSalvo, 61, of Middle Highway, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005. He was the husband of Veronica B. (Gordon) DiSalvo.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Mary (Cardente) DiSalvo.
He was a salesman for the former Woodlawn Laundry Co.
Mr. DiSalvo was a member of the Barrington American Legion Post No. 8, and was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Tina M. Agnew or Seekonk; two brothers, Marc J. DiSalvo of Barrington and Anthony C. DiSalvo of Riverside; two grandchildren, Taylor and Bryan Agnew, both of Seekonk; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral with military honors was held Friday, Feb. 11, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church. Burial was in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery.
Adlino J. Ferriera
Army veteran in WW II
Adlino J. Ferriera, 85, of Parma, Ohio, and formerly of Mayflower Drive, Seekonk, died Friday, February 4, 2005, at Parma General Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Elsie (Costa) Ferriera.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joaquim and Maria (Faria) Ferreira. He was a truck driver for the Quonset Point Naval Air Station and previously the International Supply Company. Mr. Ferriera was an Army veteran of WW II, a member of the Military Order of The Cooties, and was also a past post-commander of the V.F.W. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Charity, and the Portuguese Society of Pawtucket.
He leaves one daughter, Linda DaSilva, of Parma; and two grand-daughters, Melanie Ann Laurie and Kimberly Jean DaSilva; one great-grandson, Brendan Evan Laurie, and one sister, Emily Lucini.
He was the brother of the late Mary Raposa.
Mr. Ferriera's funeral was held Saturday, February 11, at 10 a.m., from the Perry McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence; with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial with Military Honors followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
