Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, Greene St., Woonsocket. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Edward Nunes, 85, of Pond St. Woonsocket and formerly of Williams St., Cumberland died Monday in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Cumberland he was a son of the late Porfirio and Mary deJesus (Cost) Nunes. He was a life long Cumberland resident having moved to Woonsocket eight months ago.

He was employed by the former Atlantic Pacific Tea Co., known locally as A&P Stores for many years retiring in 1978. He began his career locally as an employee at local area A & P stores and retired as the New England Regional Manager.

He was a WW II, U. S. Army veteran.

He was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Cumberland Housing Authority for many years. He was a member of the Cumberland Lions Club, The Filibuster Club and the Mendon A.C. also of Cumberland. He was an avid golfer.

He leaves a daughter Susan Menard, Mayor of Woonsocket. One sister, Lucy Fleurant of Cumberland. Two grandchildren, Major Kevin P. Menard U.S.A.F., Las Vegas, NV and Carrie M. Pilavin of Newton, MA. One great grandson, Matthew G. Menard of Las Vegas and several nieces and nephews. He was also the companion of Gloria L. Roberge of Woonsocket.

Funeral with military honors will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, Greene St., Woonsocket. Burial will take place in the R. I. Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.

Gilmore Ruth M.

Ruth M. Gilmore, 85, of Sumner Brown Rd., died Wednesday in the Mt. St. Rita Health Center, Cumberland.

Born in Cumberland she was a daughter of the late Fred L. Gilmore Sr. and the late Alice (Harrison) Gilmore. She resided at her Sumner Brown Rd. address for the past 11 months previously living at 10 Franklin St., Lincoln for 15 years. She had however lived most of her life on Barrows St. and Broad St., Cumberland.

She was employed as a bookkeeper by the Wardwell Braid Co., Central Falls for over 30 years retiring in 1985.

She was a member of the Cumberland Community Methodist Church, Broad St., Cumberland where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. She had also been a Girl Scout Troop Leader.

She leaves a nephew, William F. Gilmore of Somerset, MA, a niece Judith A. Gilmore of Marshall, VA and a sister in law, Phyllis Gilmore of Cumberland. He was also the brother of the late Fred L. Gilmore Jr., Arthur R. Gilmore and Alice L. Gilmore.

Funeral Service Saturday at 10 a.m. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Filomena D. Guerra
1924 - 2007
Filomena D. Guerra, 83, of Roland St. died Friday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Guerra. They were happily married for 62 years.

Born in the Valley Falls section of Cumberland she was the daughter of the late Joaquim and Delfina (Guerra) Duarte. She resided in Freixo da Serra, Portugal, returning to the United States with her family in 1954 settling in Cumberland. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the Cumberland Senior Center and the Clube Juventude Lusitana, Cumberland.

She was the beloved mother of Maria L. Gomes and her husband Frank of Johnston, Valdemar D. Guerra and his wife Rosa of Cumberland, Sandie Guerra Dean and her husband James of Lincoln and Marcia Elderkin and her husband Peter of Cumberland. She was the loving grandmother of Debbie Stubbs, David Gomes, Susan Dean, Jessica Goldstein, Aimee Guerra, Caitlin Martin and Matthew Elderkin. She also leaves six great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Dr., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Muriel A. Dagesse
Muriel A. Dagesse, 67 of Collins Taft Road, passed away Saturday surrounded by her family in the Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of Lucien Dagesse.

Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Germaine (Lariviere) Lafond.

Beside her husband she leaves two sons, Brian Dagesse and James Dagesse and his wife Diane, two daughters Lynn Gauvin and her husband Peter and Renay Shugrue and her husband Bob. Four brothers Ernest, Leo, Robert and Ronald Lafond. Four sisters Lucielle Paquette, Janet Contre, Claire Berard and Arlene Richard. Seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Normand Lafond.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9:15 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

Maria A. Castanheira, 85, of 10 Carpenter St., died Thursday in the Memorial

Hospital, Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Antonio Gomes.

Born in Fontefria, Portugal she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria (Pereira) Castanheira. She came to this country in 1971 settling in Cumberland.

She was employed by the former Cadillac Textile Co., Cumberland for 10 years until her retirement.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.

She leaves one daughter, Adozinda G. DE Pina of Cumberland. One brother Germano Castanheira of Brazil. Two grandchildren, Antonio De Pina of Bellingham and Fernando DE Pina of Cumberland. Two great grandchildren.

Gertrude R. Lallier, 81, of Ivan Ave., East Providence and formerly of Bear Hill Village, Cumberland died Sunday in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Norman E. Lallier.

Born in Scituate, RI a daughter of the late Cornelius and Yvonne M. (St. Onge) Crowley she resided in East Providence for the past four years previously residing in Cumberland.

She was a braider tender supervisor employed by the former Glencairn Manufacturing Co., Pawtucket for 20 years retiring in 1984.

She leaves a son, Joseph N. E. Lallier of Largo, FL and a daughter, Nancy M. Costa with whom she made her home.

Three brothers, Arthur Crowley, David Crowley and James Crowley all of Cumberland. Five sisters, Doris Mollis, Elizabeth Crowe, Jean Palmer and Beverly Dubois all of Cumberland and Beatrice Vincent of East Providence. Five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Many nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Clarence Crowley, Cornelius Crowley Jr., Richard Crowley, and Shirley Robertson.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Eucharistic service at 10 a.m. in St. John Episcopal Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Kathleen A. Thibeault
Kathleen A. Thibeault, 56, of Diamond Hill Rd., died Thursday in R. I. Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of Jay Mitchell.

Born in Jamesburg, NJ she was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Alfreda (Suraski) Dobenski. She had resided in Cumberland since 1978 and had previously lived in Attleboro and Cape Cod.

She had worked caring for the elderly for many years and had also worked in the retail community.
Kathleen was a loving and devoted wife. She and her husband Jay were marred for the past 31 years. She truly enjoyed their time together at home and on Cape Cod. She loved her extended family, friends and enjoyed nature and animals.

Besides her loving husband she leaves a sister, Dena Arrison and nephews Christopher and James Arrison of Newtown, PA. She also leaves several other cousins, nieces, nephews, sister's and brothers in law. She is also survived by her loving uncle and aunt, Walter and Florence Wawrzynski of Jamesburg, NJ.

Her funeral services will be held Sunday at 10 a.m. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Florence M. Desroches
Florence M. Desroches, 66, of Sleepy Hollow Dr. died Monday in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of Marcel A. Desroches.

Born in Woonsocket she was the daughter of the late Maurice P. and Rita E. (Arpin) Duplessis. She resided in Cumberland for the past forty two years.

She was employed at the Woonsocket Cinema for ten years and previously employed by the former R. N. Koch Co., North Providence for many years.

She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland and was active for many years as a CCD Teacher and other church groups. She was also a member of the St. Anthony Chorale, Woonsocket.

She was the loving mother of Marcus A. Desroches of Bellingham and Kelley Anne Dolce of Narragansett. She also leaves a brother, Maurice W. Duplessis of Cumberland. She was the devoted grandmother of Zachary, Samantha, Brandon and Mathew.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Jean The Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham.

Normand Joseph Robichaud
Normand Joseph Robichaud, also known as “Norm” ,“Red”, 71, a lifelong resident of Pawtucket , was born into eternal life Friday evening surrounded by his loving family holding him. Normand passed away after a courageous battle of pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Colette (Joyal) Robichaud.

Born in Pawtucket , he was the son of the late Emery and Lea (Laporte) Robichaud.

Mr. Robichaud was a life-long communicant and Eucharistic Minister of the St. John the Baptist Church , Pawtucket .

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended St. John the Baptist School , Sacred Heart, West High, and RI School of Design.

He was a lifetime member of the Lefoyer Club and a member of the Les Gais Chanteur for over 40 years. Normand served on the school board at Woodlawn Catholic Regional School in Pawtucket for 33 years. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, painting, drawing, and spending time at the barn with the family horses, George, Heaven and Dog Becca.

Mr. Robichaud was a model cutter for 27 years for Jostens in Attleboro , and then Balfour for 7 years. After his retirement in 2001, he became a dedicated volunteer as a Eucharistic minister at the Miriam Hospital in Providence where he carried on his services of comfort and prayers, love and laughter to those in need. This was a job which he especially enjoyed. Normand always loved to make others laugh and always succeeded at brightening the love of others.

Normand’s spirit will live on in the legacy of his family.

He was the adoring father to his five children who will miss him dearly: Charles E. Robichaud, Brigette A. Robichaud, Aimee D. Robichaud, Denis A. Robichaud, and Elise M. Robichaud. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom cherished his love. He was the brother of the late George Robichaud, Cecile Hamel, and Yvette Clement.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road , Rt. 122, Cumberland . Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the St. John the Baptist Church , 69 Quincy Avenue , Pawtucket . Burial will follow in the Notre Dame Cemetery , Pawtucket . Clarinda J. (Cartier) Breault
Clarinda J. (Cartier) Breault, 87, formerly of 23 Southwood Drive, Cumberland, passed away in the Oakland Grove Health Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Aldor E. Breault.

Born in Albion , she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hermelia (Gagnon) Cartier.

Mrs. Breault worked in the Textile industry in the Blackstone Valley area for many years. Mrs. Breault was most recently employed by AT Cross Inc., of Lincoln for many years until her retirement in 1982.

She was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. She was a member of the St. Joan of Arc Seniors, and a member of the Owens Corning Fiberglass Retirement Association.

She leaves two daughters, Claire Mongeon and Gloria Drolet, both of Cumberland; one sister Exina Sullivan of Pawtucket; four grandsons,; Mark Mongeon II, Geoffrey Mongeon, Nathan Drolet, and Matthew Drolet, all of Cumberland; one granddaughter, Danielle Drolet of Cumberland; and four great-grandchildren; Brooke Mongeon, Mallory Mongeon, Jacob Mongeon, and Cole Gibbons. She was the sister of the late Lionel Cartier.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt.122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Elizabeth J. Morrison
Elizabeth J. Morrison, 84, formerly of 54 East Earle Street, died Sunday at the Residence of her daughter, Katherine Davenport. She was the wife of the late Jack L. Morrison.

Born (2-26-20) in Dublin, Ireland she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (McLoughlin) Moore. She was adopted in 1928, and raised in New York, for many years by the late Edward and Katherine Butler. She resided in Cumberland for the past 58 years.

She was employed by the Cumberland School Department, school lunch program.

She was a communicant of the St. Patrick Church, where she also served as a CCD teacher for many years. She was a member of the St. Patrick Womens Club. She also enjoyed quilting.

She leaves four daughters, Muriel Almeida, Katherine Davenport, and Leslie DiBello, all of Cumberland and Elizabeth Morrison of Cranston. Two sons, John Morrison of Newberry, MA, and Edward Morrison of North Attleboro, MA. Mother of the late Margaret Morrison. One brother, Nicholas Moore of Howth, Ireland. Twelve Grandchildren, three Great Grandchildren. Several Step-Grandchildren, and neices and nephews.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held Wednesday at 9 A.M. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in the St. Patrick Church, Broad Street, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.

George F. Pytka Sr.
1948 - 2007

George F. Pytka Sr., 59, of Broad St. died Thursday at home. He was the beloved husband of Christy (Gendron) Pytka.

Born in Central Falls he was the son of Julian "Ukey" Pytka of Cumberland and the late Verna (Merow) Pytka.
He was employed by the Ann & Hope, Cumberland for 12 years until his retirement.

Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Russell Pytka of Woonsocket, Brian Pytka of Cumberland and George F. Pytka Jr. of Central Falls. Two daughters, Tina Pytka and Nicole Pytka both of Cumberland. One brother, Wayne Pytka and a sister Sandra Morin both of Cumberland.

Gerard "Foot" Therrien
1952 - 2007

Gerard "Foot" Therien, 55, of School St. died Friday in the R. I. Hospital, Providence.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Pierre A. and Rita (Baril) Therrien. He resided in Albion for the past 26 years.

He was an equipment manager employed by Alliance Rental Co., Walpole, MA for the past year and had previously been employed by the Modern Continental Co., Stoughton, MA for over 30 years.

He leaves a daughter Renee Therrien and a son, Pierre Therrien both of Albion. Two sisters, Helen Laramee and Alice McIntyre both of Cumberland. Two grandchildren, Briana Therrien and Kelsey Blass both of Albion. He was also the brother of the late Eva Plante.

Jeanne H. Jameson
1946 - 2007

Jeanne H. Jameson, 61, of Field St. died Saturday at home. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth R. Jameson.

Born in Pawtucket she was the daughter of the late Leo and Madeline (Girouard) Malo. She resided in Pawtucket for the past thirty eight years.

She was employed by the former Cadillac Textile Co., Cumberland for twenty two years retiring in 1986.
She was active for many years with the Darlington American Little League. She was also an avid bowler belonging to the Southeast Container Fun League.

Besides her husband she leaves a son, Kevin R. Jameson and his wife Sandra and a daughter, Joyce L. Jameson all of Pawtucket. One brother, Roger Malo of Niceville, FL and a grandson, Kyle Jameson of Pawtucket.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Leo The Great Church, 697 Central Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
