Margaret Long Arnold
1912 ~ 2004
Margaret Long Arnold, 92, former president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs and a former executive at AARP, died December 1st at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Concord. Her husband of 37 years, Mr. Dexter O. Arnold, died in 1976.
Born in 1912 in Lusk, Wyoming, where her father, the late Reverend S. Burman Long, had traveled to establish a Congregational Church along with her mother the late Margaret Mae (Hoch) Long. Mrs. Arnold held a variety of volunteer and public service positions throughout her life. After graduating from Syracuse University in 1934, she established the Department of Speech and Dramatics in the Syracuse, NY school system and was a consultant to the Columbia Broadcasting System. In 1939 she married Dexter O. Arnold and moved to Concord, New Hampshire, where Mr. Arnold was the Superintendent of Schools in the 1960's. While Mr. Arnold was serving as a Lt. Commander in the U. S. Navy, she became active in the Women's Club of Concord, eventually serving as its president.
As a young clubwoman in 1956, she was responsible for the first New Hampshire Governor's Conference on Aging, which earned her a medal from the University of New Hampshire as the state's most distinguished citizen. She became the president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs in 1962 and was profiled in the Saturday Evening Post in 1963. In that interview she was quoted as saying, "I decided a woman had to expand the walls of her house to include the community. You have to pay the rent for being a free woman in a democracy, and volunteer work is the way you do it."
Mrs. Arnold moved to Washington, D.C. in 1975 and served as the head of Women's Activities Division of the AARP. She returned to Concord in 1994, following her retirement. She is survived by four nephews and two nieces.
Funeral services will be held at grave side on Friday December 10th at 11 a.m. at the Arnold Mills Cemetery, Nate Whipple Highway, Rt. 120, Cumberland, RI. Arrangements are under the direction of the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland, RI. Lillian M. Onoyan
1920 - 2007
Lillian M. Onoyan, 87, of Sumner Brown Rd. died Monday in Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. She was the wife of the late Garabed G. Onoyan.
Born in Pawtucket she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ida (Matook) Abgrab. She resided in Cumberland for the past 47 years previously residing in Central Falls.
She was employed by the Dante Jewelry Co., Attleboro for 7 years retiring in 1976.
She was a communicant of St. Vartanatz Church, Providence and a member of the Sher le Mon Swim Club, Cumberland. She was a sun worshiper and loved sewing and knitting.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother for whom family always came first. She leaves two daughters, Debra A. Wolowicz and Sandra M. Dawson both of Cumberland. One son, Michael P. Onoyan of North Smithfield. One brother, Abraham Abgrab of Westport. She also leaves seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren., several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Paul M. and Gary Onoyan and the sister of the late Isabel George, Anna Slemon, Rose Hasso, Mary Kassab, Joe Abgrab and Albert Abgrab.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. Vartanatz Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Rose V. Swec

Rose V. (Baldyga) Szwec, 97, formerly of Cumberland passed away in the Rhode Island Hospital, on Monday. She was the wife of the late Anthony Szwec.
Born in West Warren, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Andrzejczyk) Baldyga. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life.
Mrs. Szwec was co-owner with her husband of A & R Watch Repair Shop in Pawtucket for 33 years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of the St. Aidan Church, a member of the former Polish White Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, the St. Aidan Woman’s Club, and the Cornerstone Adult Senior Services Center, Warwick.
She leaves two sons, Eugene Szwec and Anthony Szwec both of Florida; two daughters, Sandra Dandeneau of North Scituate, and Rosalie Harris of East Greenwich; one sister, Irene Parker of Portland, ME; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Walter Baldyga, Joseph Baldyga, and Helen Nobis.

Humberta Maito Medeiros

Humberta Maiato Medeiros, 69, of Lorraine St. died Thursday, December 13 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Manuel P. Medeiros. They had been married for forty years.
Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal she was the daughter of the late Jose and Hortencia (Amaral) Sousa. She came to this country 32 years ago settling in Pawtucket.
Prior to her arrival in the United States she was employed as a nurse in St. Miguel, Azores for 18 years, where she was known as nurse “Maiato Sousa”.
She was employed here by the Providence Metalizing Co. for 25 years retiring in 2000.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony Church and a member of St. Anthony Holy Spirit Society. She was a member of Grupo Amigos da Terceira and the Holy Spirit Great Feast, Fall River, MA.
Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Helder M. Medeiros and his wife Andrea of North Kingstown and Paulo S. Medeiros and his wife Eliza of North Providence. Three grandchildren, Max, Julia and Lauren Medeiros all of North Kingstown. Two sisters, Maria J. Teves and Germana Faria both of Toronto, Canada.

Leon H. Tetrault

Leon H. Tetrault, 71, of Crestwood Ct. died Friday in the R. I. Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Wood) Tetrault.
Born in Providence he was the son of Elizabeth (Carroll) Tetrault of Johnston and the late Conrad Tetrault. He resided in Cumberland for the past 41 years.
He was employed by the former Narragansett Electric Co. for 32 years retiring in 1998.
He was a 1954 graduate of LaSalle Academy, Providence.
He was a U. S. Air Force, Air National Guard veteran serving during the Berlin Crisis.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. He enjoyed golf, playing cards with friends, the Paw Sox and had always maintained his sense of humor and spirit. He was also an avid artist and enjoyed painting, pen and ink drawing and wood carving.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Leslie Tetrault of Sarasota, FL and Sue Christensen of Massachusetts. Three brothers, Conrad Tetrault of Costa Mesa, Ca, Joseph Tetrault of Glastonbury, CT and Rev. Raymond Tetrault, Pastor of St. Theresa Church, Providence. He was also the brother of the late Irene Meenagh.

Kent Eugenia A., 87, of 1 Mendon Rd. died Sunday at home. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Helena (Wiewiorski) Janusz. She was the mother of Charlotte Kent of Coventry. She also leaves a granddaughter and was the sister in law of Rosalie Klepadlo of Cumberland and Teresa Janusz of Ohio. She was also the sister of the late John and Matthew Janusz.

Blanche H. (Cribari) Gaumond, 76, of Philip Avenue, Cumberland died Sunday in the Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence after a long illness. She was the wife of Harry J. Gaumond Sr., and they were married fifty-four years.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (Brodeur) Cribari Card. She resided in Cumberland for forty-four years, previously living in Pawtucket.
She was a communicant of St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Mrs. Gaumond was a homemaker and she enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed sewing, reading and watching the Red Sox.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Donna Scotto of North Smithfield, and Debra Fernandes of Smithfield; two sons, Harry J. Gaumond Jr. of Woonsocket, and Raymond P. Gaumond of Attleboro, MA; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Raymond Cribari and Alfred Cribari.

Alice C. Marques, 77 formerly of High Street passed away Wednesday in Bayberry Commons Nursing Home, Pascoag. She was the wife of the late Manuel Marques.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Allard) Latraverse. She was a lifelong resident of Central Falls.
She was an inspector for the Fram Co., of East Providence for 30 years retiring in 1992.
She was a communicant of St. Matthew Church, Central Falls.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Fuller of Chepachet, and her husband Kenneth, and their children Jessica and Erica. A son Ronald Marques of Tennessee and his wife Leah and their children Steven, Kelly and Michael; and a son Kenneth Marques of Florida and his sons Travis and Ryan. A brother John Latraverse of Central Falls and his wife Dolores, a brother Louis Latraverse of Pawtucket and his wife Mary. She also leaves six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Raymond and Albert Latraverse.

Agnella B. Latimer, 88 formerly of Mullen Street passed away Wednesday in the Holiday Retirement Home, Lincoln. She was the wife of the late George E. Latimer Jr.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Calixte and Johanna (Aherne) Palin. She resided in Cumberland for 57 years previously residing in Pawtucket.
She was employed by the former John W. Little Co., Pawtucket and she was also a member of the Lithographers Union at the former Advertisers & Engravers Co., of Pawtucket for many years until her retirement.
She was a member of the R.I. Watercolor Society and the AARP.
She was a graduate of the RI School of Design.
She was a volunteer in the past at the Jean Jugan Residence, Pawtucket.
Mrs. Latimer taught art lessons in watercolor to many children in Cumberland at her residence over the years.
She leaves two sons, George E. Latimer III of Riverside and Bruce D. Latimer of Glocester. Five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Calixte A. Palin, James Palin, Arthur Palin and Margarita Alesandro.

Clarisse M. LaBelle, 86 of Annie Street and formerly of One Mendon Road, passed away Thursday in Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Lionel "Jack" LaBelle.
Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Roseanna (Lambert) Dumas. She resided in Pawtucket for the past six months previously residing in Cumberland for 24 years.
She was a machine operator for the RI Textile Co., Pawtucket for many years retiring in 1983.
She was a member of the Cumberland Tenants Association.
She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Hetu and her husband Richard of Pawtucket. Her grandchildren Christine Thrift of Greenville; Michael Hetu of Cumberland; William Hetu of Rumford and Lori-Ann Bessette of Cumberland, and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Annette Gince; Doris Allard; Joseph Dumas and Raymond Dumas.

Angelo Lanni, 97, of Mendon Rd. passed away peacefully Thursday. He was the husband of the late Constance R. (DelGuidice) Lanni.
Born in Providence he was the son of the late Lawrence and Maria (Viola) Lanni. He resided in Cumberland for the past thirty-five years previously residing in Pawtucket.
He was the owner of Lanni's Barber Salon for over sixty years until his retirement.
He was a WW II, U. S. Army veteran. He was a communicant of St. Aidan Church and a member of the St. Aidan Seniors and Cumberland Seniors. He was a former member of American Legion Post 45, Pawtucket. He was also an avid golfer, bowler and traveler.
He leaves a daughter, Virginia M. Jones of Cumberland and a son Donald E. Lanni of South Attleboro, MA. Two brothers, David Lanni of Rumford and Lawrence Lanni of Johnston. Four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Mary Pesce, Lena Famiglietti, Pasqualina Anzelone, William Lanni and Nicholas Lanni.

Robert A. Gagne "Bobby G", of One Mendon Road , passed away on Friday in the Home and Hospice Care of RI, inpatient facility, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Linda N. (Dugan) Gagne.
Born in Fall River , MA , he was the son the late Adrien and Eleanor (Hart) Gagne. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life.
He was employed as a maintenance mechanic for the Armbust Chain Inc of Providence for many years retiring in 2000. After retirement he worked for Technic Inc, and Apollo Motors.
He was a member Country Music Association of Rhode Island, and the lead singer of Kitty and the Country Wanderers. He was a current treasurer of the One Mendon Road Tenants Association.
Besides his wife he leaves three sons Robert Gagne Jr., and Paul Gagne both of Riverside, James Gagne of Ware, MA; four daughters Joanne Benoit of New Hampshire, Robin Chaplin of Cranston, Colleen Girard of Woonsocket, and Debra David of Cumberland. He was the beloved step-father of the late Edward Doiron. He also leaves one brother, two sisters, seventeen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Charles A. "Windy" Brouillette, 69, formerly of Cumberland died Saturday in the Woonsocket Health Center.
Born in Cumberland he was the son of the late Eugene and Rose (Archambault) Brouillette. He resided in Cumberland most of his life.
He was a franchise owner of an Arnold's Bread route for fifteen years retiring in 2001. He was previously a distributor for the Coca Cola Bottling Co.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by a cousin, Pauline Pariseau Micek of Peoria, AZ and his former wife, Lucinda Curtis of Woonsocket. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Calling hours and funeral services will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. with services at 8 p.m. Burial will be private.

Albertina DeJesus Rodrigues, 87, of High St. died Wednesday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Jose "Fainha" Rodrigues.
Born in Insua, Penalva doCastelo, Portugal she was the daughter of the late Joao and Maria (DeJesus) Lopes. She came to this country in 1961 settling in Cumberland.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
She is survived by five daughters, Maria H. Nogueira, Madalena Principe and Olivia Bousquet all of Cumberland, Maria Gloria Walker and Carmen Rodrigues both of Lincoln. Two sons, Joao Manuel Rodrigues and Jose A. Rodrigues both of Cumberland. One sister, Maria DeJesus of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
