Estelle M. (Ouellette) Plante, 85 of One Medon Road, formerly of Ryan Avenue. passed away Monday, in the Woonsocket Health Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Amesbury, MA, She was the daughter of the late Ludger and Bridget (Proulx) Ouellette. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life
She was employed by the Owens Corning Fiberglass Co for 10 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a Communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church for many years..
She leaves her four daughters, Yvonne Smith, Louise Savard both of Cumberland, RI, Gail Vargas of Coventry, RI, Donna Brown of Granville, NY; one son, Gerry Plante of Cumberland; one brother, Norbert Ouellette and one sister, Louise Marquis both of Amesbury, MA. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frederick Ouellette, Francis Ouellette, Henry Ouellette and Rita Bryant. She was the great-grandmother of the late Jacob Smith.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 12, at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery.

Elizabeth M. (Gunville) Butler, 81, of North Smithfield, R.I. died peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2008 in her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, Atty. John J. Butler of North Smithfield, R.I; eight children; Sean F. Butler of North Smithfield R.I, Elizabeth A. Butler of Roseville Ca.; Kathleen M. Longano and husband John of Victoria, Australia; Kevin C. and wife Linda-Jo Butler of Uxbridge, Ma; Brian D. Butler of Uxbridge, Ma; Michael B. and wife Michelle Butler of Weymouth, Ma; James M. Butler of Taunton, Ma; and Julie B. Butler of Lincoln, R.I.; she is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Michael, Julie Anne and Emily Longano of Victoria, Australia; Matthew Butler of Uxbridge; Christine and Rachel Butler of Uxbridge; Jeremy and Meghan Butler of Weymouth.
She was born in East Weymouth, Ma, the daughter of Louis B. Gunville, and Elizabeth (Klinges) Gunville and was a graduate of the 1947 Carney School of Nursing, Boston,Mass. Mrs. Butler worked for many years as a licensed registered nurse, retiring her career at the at Veterans Administration Hospital, Providence, R.I. in 1982. Mrs. Butler enjoyed painting, gardening, playing the organ, her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Paula F. (Collier)Mekdsy, 62 of Dexter St., died Tuesday, in the Memorial Hospital of RI. She was the wife of Norman Mekdsy.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Annie (Keenan) Collier. She was a lifelong Cumberland resident.
She was a teacher employed by the Cumberland School System for thirty two years, having spent most of that time at Cumberland High School. She retired in 2002.
She was a member of St. Aidan Seniors, ADK Sorority and the Red Hats. She also loved travel and her time at the ocean.
Besides her husband she leaves a daughter; Anne-Marie Mekdsy of Cumberland.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, 8 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9.00 a.m. in the St. Joseph Church Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.

Mary R. (Laushway) Carlin, 87 formerly of Glenn Oaks Drive, passed away Thursday, May 22, in Mt. St. Rita Health Center, Cumberland. She was the wife of the late William R. Carlin
Born in 1921 in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Rene and Gertrude (Lane) Laushway. She resided in Cumberland for 35 years.
She was employed by the Ann & Hope of Cumberland for 16 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a Communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland..
She leaves three sons William B. Carlin III of Cumberland, James T. Carlin of Barrington, and Robert A. Carlin of Leominster, MA; two daughters, Marianne Gottschalk of North Providence, and Barbara Feeney of Narragansett; one sister, Ruth Beretta of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Mark Anthony Ring, 49 of Ballou Avenue, passed away Saturday, at home . He was the husband of Kathy (McDermott) Ring, they had been married for 24 years
Born December 7, 1958 in East Providence, he was the son of the late Arthur and Hope (Davis) Ring. He resided in Lincoln for 17 years, previously East Providence.
He was employed by the John W. Kennedy Company of East Providence for many years.
He leaves two sons, Mark Ring, and David Ring; and a daughter, Jennifer Ring all of Lincoln; three brothers, Arthur Ring of East Providence, Matthew Ring, and Luke Ring both of Rehobeth; four sisters, Mary Ring, Hope Melfi, and Joan Perry all of East Providence, and Monica Ring of Pawtucket. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dawn Ring.

Francisco Marques

Francisco Marques, 89, of Broad Street, Cumberland passed away Tuesday, May 20 in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Elza (Machado) Marques, they had been married for 60 years.
He was the son of the late Bernardino and Ana (Lemos) Marques. He resided in Cumberland for 33 years, previously residing in Providence.
He was a self-employed Cabinet Maker, and was the proprietor of the former Marques Woodcraft of Cumberland, retiring in 1994. He began woodworking at the age of 11 in Portgual.
Mr. Marques was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Besides his beloved wife he leaves a son, Mario Marques of Costa Rica and a daughter, Eni Desmond of Cumberland; two grandchildren, Kim Pettella and Michael Pettella.
His funeral will be held Friday at 10 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindy invited. Raymond L. Pallante, 59 of Columbia Drive, passed away Saturday, May 17, in Memorial Hospital of RI. He was the husband of the late Maureen (O'Connor) Pallante.
Born January 17, 1949 in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Violetta (Vezenia) Pallante. He resided in Cumberland for 25 years previously residing in Warwick.
He was a 1967 Graduate of Central High School.
He was employed by the Centrex Distribution of West Greenwich for three years, and was employed by Supervalue Distributors of Cumberland for many years.
He was a Communicant of St. Patrick Church, Cumberland..
He leaves his beloved daughter, Michaela Pallante of Cumberland; four brothers Anthony Pallante of Virginia, Michael Pallante and Joseph Pallante of Florida, and Robert Pallante of West Warick. He was the brother of the late Jeannette Pallante and Cecelia Pallante.

Antoinette (Forte) Moulson, 79 of Whipple St., died Saturday, in Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of Norman J. Moulson.
Born in the Quinnville section of Lincoln, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Mascio) Forte. She resided in Cumberland most of her life.
She worked for many years until her retirement at her family's business, Forte Bros. Construction Co. as the payroll manager.
She was a communicant of Historic St. Joseph Church and a member of the church Women's Club and the Daughters of Isabella.
She leaves a daughter; Linda Whiteside and her husband Robert of Cumberland; one granddaughter, Jennifer Campbell and her husband Joseph; great granddaughters, Sarah and Allie all of Saunderstown. Five brothers, James Forte of Pompano, FL, Alfred Forte of No. Smithfield, Joseph, Antonio Forte of Cumberland; a sister and Nicholas Forte of Elkton, FL. One sister; Mary Lucy Kelly of Cumberland. She also leaves her sisters in law, nieces and nephews.

Thomas Katsios, 58, of Greenville, RI, passed away on May 16, 2008. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Eleni, his three daughters, Evangelia, Georgia, Golfo, his son, Georgios, his grandchildren, Giovanni, Katerina and Patrick, his sons-in law, Chris and Patrick, and his daughter-in-law, Kim.
Thomas was born and raised in Greece and served in the Greek National Army. Upon moving to the U.S. in 1980 with his wife and young children, he worked for several pizzerias before buying Athens Pizza in Greenville in 1989. He was a hard working man, loving husband and doting father and Grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Wednesday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church (97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket RI) followed by a burial at North Burial Ground, North Main St., Providence, RI.

Imelda A. Bergeron, 95, formerly of Massachusetts Avenue, and Earle Street, Central Falls passed away Sunday, in The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the wife of the late Donat Bergeron.
Born April 24, 1913 in Sorel, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Marie (Rose) Arpin. She resided in Central Falls for most of her life.
She leaves a daughter, Connie Glad, and her husband Tom of Cumberland; two grandsons Michael Glad, and William Glad both of Cumberland; two granddaughters Donna Barboza of Cumberland, and Laura Kutsaftis of Middletown; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She was the sister of the late Blanche Lapham.

Joan Shirley Mays (Morse), 78, formerly of Cumberland Crossing passed away Thursday, in the Woonsocket Health and Rehab Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Billy Joe Mays.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Alice (Stones) Morse. She resided in Cumberland for many years.
Mrs. Mays was a Bookkeeper for Mays Electric for many years.
She was a member of St. John Episcopal Church, and also a member of St. Aidan Widow Support Group.
She leaves two daughters, Linda Guastello of Warwick, Rebecca Downing of South Attleboro, one son, Richard Mays of New Port Richey, FL; one sister, Beatrice Wood of Cumberland ; three granddaughters, Katy Mays of Attleboro, Erica Guastello of Warwick, Lindsay Mays of Orlando, FL; and one grandson, David Mays of Hudson, FL. She also leaves one great-grandson, Christian Mays, of Hudson, FL, and several nieces and nephews.

Jose Cabral de Sena, 86 of 81 Tanager Rd., died Tuesday, in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. He was the husband of Maria (Frade) de Sena. They were married for the past fifty three years.
Born in Povoa de Cervaes, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio C. and Maria A. (Lopes) de Sena. He resided in Seekonk for the past 5 years previously living in Pawtucket.
He was employed by the R. I. Textile Co. for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana and Grupo Os Amigos do Benfica, Cumberland.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Fatima and son in law Luis Alves of Seekonk, two grandsons Steven J. and Michael D. Alves of Seekonk. He was the brother of the late Alberto de Sena; he also leaves a sister, America de Sena of Portugal, two sisters in law, Joaquina de Sena and Emilia Frade and brother in law Augusto Frade and several nieces and nephews.

Anthony Joseph Sidla, 84 of One Mendon Road passed away, Tuesday, May 27 in Grandview Nursing Center. He was the husband of Margaret (Mooney) Sidla.
Born in 1923 in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Geralite) Sidla, he resided in Cumberland for most of his life.
He was a graduate of 1941 Graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, NJ.
He was a WWII, United States Navy Veteran.
He was employed as a secretary for the former Atlantic-Richfield Company of Providence for many years until retirement.
Mr. Sidla was a communicant of St. Patrick Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 14, VFW Israel Couture Post #2274, MORA Club of Pawtucket, Pawtucket Boys Club Harmonica Band, Cumberland Seniors. He was also a past grand knight of St. Thomas Council #1472, member of the Delaney Assembly #1059, Fourth Degree, Tin Can Sailors, AARP, Arco Retirees, and the Knights of Lithuania.
Besides his wife he leaves four sons, Richard Sidla of Cranston, David Sidla of Pascoag, Robert Sidla and Kenneth Sidla both of Cumberland; one daughter, Ann Marie Desmarais of Cumberland; one sister, Anne Morton of Denver, CO. He also leaves ten grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
