BRENDA B. TEXTER

Brenda B. (Bliven) Clark Texter of 6 Sunnyside Drive, Westerly, beloved wife of Eugene C. Texter, Jr., died June 4, 2002, in Westerly She was also the wife of the late Louis E. Clark.

Born in Westerly on Jan. 4, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Russell. P. and Edna K. (Kissick) Bliven. She married Eugene Texter Jr. in Westerly on May 8, 1993.

She will be remembered by her many friends and family for her infectious smile, kind spirit and loyal friendship.

She worked as a Certified Professional, Insurance Agent, retiring in 1997 from Starkweather & Shepley Inc. in Westerly.

She was a member of the New London County Association of Insurance Women. She was Past Worthy Advisor of Westerly Assembly, Order of Rainbow for Girls; a member of Deborah Chapter No. 9 Order of Eastern Star, Past Matron in 1968; member of the Westerly Alumnae, Grand Cross of Color Order of Rainbow for Girls, and Napatree Business & Professional Women.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother Lance R. Bliven of California; a stepdaughter Tracey Boatman of Turbotville, Pa.; two stepsons, Mark Texter of Westerly and Eugene Texter of Providence; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Funeral service will be Friday at noon at Christ Episcopal Church, 7 Elm St., Westerly. Burial will be in River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to Hospice Care of RI, South County Office, 143 Main St., Wakefield, RI 02880 or to Christ Episcopal Church, 7 Elm St., Westerly, RI 02891 or to Pawcatuck Masonic Temple A.F. & A.M., 22 Pequot Trail, Pawcatuck, CT 06379.

DAVID I. MITCHELL

David Innes Mitchell, 84, beloved father of Marjorie Misovich, of North Stonington, died Monday evening, Jan. 4, 2002, at the Mystic Manor in Mystic.

Mr. Mitchell was born in New London on Feb. 27, 1917, a son of the late David Innes Mitchell and Mary (Gordon) Mitchell. He was a 1935 graduate of the Bulkley School in New London.

During the years of World War II, Mr. Mitchell worked as a toolmaker at the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics and then, for 18 years, at the Gammons-Hoaglund Company in Manchester, Conn. In 1948, Mr. Mitchell and his wife moved to Andover, Conn., where they brought up their family. Mr. Mitchell took a position in 1959 in the inspection department at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, where he worked until his retirement in 1982.

On Sept. 27, 1941, Mr. Mitchell married the former Marjorie Martin. Mrs. Mitchell died in 1981. Mr. Mitchell was then fortunate to find a companion in Marjorie Allen Gray, who along with her then-deceased husband, John Shapley Gray, had been friends with the Mitchells since the 1930s. Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Gray shared their homes in Waterford and Fort Myers, Fla., and traveled the world over until Mrs. Gray's death in 1999.

In addition to his daughter, Marjorie, and her husband Steve, of North Stonington, with whom he most recently made his home, Mr. Mitchell leaves two other daughters and their spouses, Mary Jean Mitchell and Michael Askenazer of Hayward, Calif., and Peg and Bill Klungle of Grand Haven, Mich.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Stephen and Kelly Misovich of Coventry, Conn., Karen M. and Chris Bobonich of Stanford, Calif., Jennie and David Perrelli of Hamden, Conn., Carla and Tom Clark of Grand Haven, Mich., and Nikki and Matt Cushman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Julia Perrelli.

The Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly, is in charge of the arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 8, from 3 to 6 p.m. The funeral and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute to the American Cancer Society, 400 Main St., Pawtucket, RI 02860.

ELIOT HALE PORTER II

Eliot Hale Porter II, 78, of Stonington and Fishers Island, N.Y., formerly of Southington and New Britain, Conn., died on March 20, 2002.
Relatives and friends are invited to join his family at a memorial service celebrating his life on Saturday, June 15, at 11:30 a.m. at Union Chapel, Fishers Island.

Corinne L. (Morrow) Gallo

Corinne L. (Morrow) Gallo beloved wife of Frank V. Gallo, of 24 Milrose Ave., Westerly, died this morning, May 21, 2003, at The Westerly Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are being completed by Gaffney-Dolan Funeral 59 Spruce St., Westerly.

Pamela J. (Saunders) Lastes

Pamela J. (Saunders) Lastes, 61, beloved wife of Thomas J. Lastes of 24 Longview Ave., Westerly, died May 20, 2003, at the Watch Hill Manor, Westerly.
She was born in Middletown, Conn., daughter of Mrs. Pauline Saunders of Westerly and the late Robert L. Saunders.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by three sons, Bernard R. Lastes of Ashaway, Thomas J. Lastes Jr., of Westerly, and Michael E. Lastes of Fredricksburg, Va.; a daughter, Darlene F. Crudden of Westerly; two brothers, Brad Saunders of Harleysville, Pa., and Lindsay Saunders of Westerly; a sister, Rosemary Jones of Southington, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59, Spruce St., Westerly, Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in First Hopkinton Cemetery, Hopkinton.

Beatrice (Thibdeau) Dufour

Beatrice (Thibdeau) Dufour, 87, of Brownsburg, Ind., formerly of Maple Court, Ashaway, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at the Roland Club Manor in Brownsburg. She was the beloved wife of the late George A. "Fred" Dufour.

Born in Stonington on March 7, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Jane (Babcock) Thibdeau.

Mrs. Dufour was employed at Charbert Textile Inc. for 20 years, and prior to that she worked for Ashaway Line and Twine for 10 years.

Mrs. Dufour is survived by her son Fred W. Dufour of Brownsburg; her sister, Jane Discuillo of Pawcatuck; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 23, at 11 a.m. in Stonington Cemetery, Stonington. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Arrangements are by the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly.

Frank L. Struzik

Frank L. Struzik, 95, formerly of Weekapaug, husband of the late Mary (Medynski) Struzik, died May 28, 2003, at the Westerly Health Center.

Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Julia C. Struzik.

He had been employed at Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics as a pipe fitter before retiring in the early 1970s.

He was member of the Westerly Masons, an honorary member of the Quonochontaug Grange, a member of RIMS, and an avid fisherman.

He had a great love for his great-grandchildren and for his dogs.

He is survived by a son, Lawrence Struzik of Shady Harbor; a daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Ed Fuller of Weekapaug; a brother, Ted Piekos of White Plains, N.Y.; a sister, Joan Giard of Bellingham, Wash.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Clare, St. Clare Way, Misquamicut. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.
