William F. Palmieri
Former Barrington dispatcher, fireman
William F. Palmieri of Child Street, died on Friday, Jan 29, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was 92.
Mr. Palmieri was married to Doris (Southwood) Palmieri. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Michael and Assunta (SanAntonio) Palmieri.
Mr. Palmieri was a dispatcher and fireman for the Barrington Fire Department and a guard at the former Kaiser Aluminum plant in Bristol before he retired. He lived in Barrington for 28 years.
Besides his wife, Mr. Palmieri leaves a daughter, Barbara Palmieri of Warren. He was a brother of the late Michellina Circello.
His funeral service and burial were private.
Judith E. Smith
Retired nurse, former resident
Judith E. Smith of Port St. Lucie, Fla, died on Monday, March 29, 1999, at home. She was 64.
Mrs. Smith was a Warren native and lived in town until she moved to Florida 20 years ago. She was a daughter of J. Charles and Mary B Smith.
Before retiring, Mrs. Smith was a licensed practical nurse at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was a member of the St. Lucie Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie.
Mrs. Smith leaves a sister, Sharon A. Doherty of Palm Beach Gardens, and several nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Audrey Martel.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Lucie Catholic Church. A committal service will be held at a later date in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, Fla.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial and Honor Program at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
John B. Boulanger
General contractor lived here 90 years
John B. Boulanger of Kickemuit Road died on Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was 95.
Mr. Boulanger was married to the late Mabel (Carter) Boulanger. Born in Quebec, Canada, he was a son of the late John and Alphonsine (Piegon) Boulanger.
Mr. Boulanger lived most of his life in Warren after moving from Canada when he was 5. He was the owner and a general contractor for the former John Boulanger & Son Inc. for 50 years. He was a communicant of St. Jean Baptiste Church on Main Street.
Mr. Boulanger leaves two sons, John J. Boulanger and Donald J. Boulanger, both of Warren; a daughter, Lorraine G. Devine of Peacedale, and seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday in St. Jean Baptiste Church. Arrangements were handled by the William J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery.
William J Beauchaine
William Joseph Beauchaine, 78, of Libby Lane died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Muriel (Owens) Beauchaine.
The son of the late Lucy Beauchaine, Mr. Beauchaine was born in Warren and was a lifelong resident.
He was a color mixer for Narragansett Coded Paper in Pawtucket for 33 years, retiring in 1983.
Mr. Beauchaine was a communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.
He leaves a stepson, Joseph W. Koger of Warren; two stepdaughters, Barbara Disano of Cranston and Judith Rego of Warren, and 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Herman Beauchaine.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am Friday, April 23, at St Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon Street. Calling hours are tomorrow from 6 to 8 pm at the William J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 15 Church St.

Stephen R. Romano
President of funeral home
Stephen R. Romano, 55, of 7 Manning Drive, Barrington, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital after being stricken at work. He was the husband of Beverly (Palumbo) Romano.
Born in Providence, he was a son of Pio A. Romano, Sr. of Warren and Providence, and the late Eva (Parillo) Romano. He had lived in Barrington for 30 years.
He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, Providence, and a 1964 graduate of the New England Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, Boston.
Mr. Romano served in the Army for two years during the Vietnam War, and was a specialist 4th class in the 10th Aviation Group.
President of the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, Warren, since 1985, Mr. Romano also had been the director of the Romano funeral homes in Providence and Warren since 1968.
He was a member of the Rhode Island Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.
He also served as a special police officer for the town of Warren, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was a member of the East Bay Chamber of Commerce, Bristol County Lions Club, Barrington Democratic Club, and American Legion Post 8 in Barrington. He was an avid golfer. Mr. Romano was a communicant of Holy Angels Church and had served on the church's finance committee.
Besides his wife and father, he leaves three sons, Stephen R. Romano of Revere, Mass, Michael T. Romano of Barrington and Peter J. Romano of Worcester, Mass; three brothers, Pio A. Romano, Jr. of Cranston, Ronald F. Romano of Providence and Raymond A. Romano of Warren; and a grandson, Ryan James Romano.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at Holy Angels Church. Burial with military honors was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Margaret Lake
Leaves a son, grandson in Warren
Margaret (Travers) Lake, 79, of 1014 Hope St, Bristol, formerly of Pagnano Street, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Waldo N. Lake.
Born in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Margaret (Bernard) Travers. A resident of Bristol most of her life, Ms Lake previously resided in East Providence for several years.
She worked for her brother, John Travers, for 20 years at his County Cleaners in Bristol, before retiring in 1979. She also worked for many years as a stone cutter for Coro Jewelry Co. in Providence.
Ms Lake was a communicant of St Elizabeth's Church and was a former CCD teacher when she was a young woman. She was a member of Hope Circle 70, Daughters of Isabella, Bristol.
She is survived by two sons, Sheldon M. Lake of Warren and Robert N. Lake of Bristol; two daughters, June Santos and Janet Lake, both of Bristol; two brothers John Travers of Bristol and George Travers of Keys, Fla; five grandsons, Paul D. Santos and Robert S. Lake of East Providence, Michael S. Lake of Attleboro Falls, Mass, Rodney S. Santos of Bristol and David S Lake of Warren; three stepgrandsons, Joseph and William Mojkowski of Bristol and Robert Mojkowski of Smithfield, and two great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Santos and a brother, Joseph Travers.
Her funeral was held Tuesday from the Sansone Funeral Home, Bristol, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth's Church. Burial followed in North Burial Ground, Bristol.

Carol D Heilhecker
Travel agent, lived here 56 years
Carol D. (Weber) Heilhecker, 74, of 10 Munro Ave., died Monday, April 12, 1999, at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late Eugene C. "Gene" Heilhecker, Jr.
Born in Weehawken, NJ, the daughter of the late Roy A. and Beatris F. (Trimble) Weber, she lived in Warren for 56 years, previously residing in Bristol.
A travel agent for 10 years, Ms Heilhecker retired in 1988, prior to that she was a banquet manager at a number of local establishments for 30 years.
Ms Heilhecker was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a 1941 graduate from Memorial High School in West New York, NJ.
She is survived by two sons, Eugene C. Heilhecker III of North Kingstown and Eric W. Heilhecker of Merrimack, NH; three grandchildren, Geoffrey S. Heilhecker of Scottsdale, Ariz, Carrie K. Heilhecker of North Kingstown and Tyson C. Heilhecker of Merrimack; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Grace Heilhecker of Scottsdale; and three sisters, Roberta A. Weber of Benson, Ariz., Winifred J. Panzarella of Spanish Fort, Ala., and Rosalie S. Sarracino of Bristol.
Her funeral was held Friday at the Sansone Funeral Home, Bristol. Burial followed in North Burial Ground, Bristol.

Frank Couitt III
Communicant of St Mary of the Bay
Frank Couitt III of Rosedale Drive, Bristol, died Tuesday, Nov 9, 1999, at home. He was 76.
Mr. Couitt was married to the late Gladys P. (Jarvais) Couitt. Born in Swansea, he was a son of the late Frank and Cora (Freitas) Couitt. He leaves a daughter in Warren, Doreen Rosa.
Mr. Couitt lived in Bristol in the last years of his life, having previously lived in Barrington. Before retiring in 1985, he was employed by Johnsbury Trucking Co in Pawtucket for over 30 years as a truck driver.
A member of the Hampden Meadows Fire Company in Barrington, he was also a member of Teamsters Union Local 251. An avid bowler, he was frequently seen at Dudek's Bowling Alley in Warren.
Mr. Couitt was a communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church in Warren.
Besides his daughter in Warren, he leaves three sons, Frank Couitt IV of Bristol, Dale Couitt of New Bedford, Mass., and Tim Couitt of Barrington; three other daughters, Cindy Goza of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Sandy Silva and Dawn Couitt, both of Bristol; a sister, Flo Sear of Seekonk; a brother, Charles Couitt of Fall River, and 14 grandchildren and great-grandson. He was a brother of the late James Couitt.
His funeral was held Saturday from the William J. Smith Funeral Home in Warren. It was followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary of the Bay Church. Burial was in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery in Warren.
Mary M. Lima
Born in Açores, member of Sodality
Mary Margaret (Carreiro) Lima, 94, of Academy Avenue, Bristol, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren. She was the wife of the late Manuel M. Lima.
Born in Pico Da Pedra, São Miguel, the Açores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Margaret Carreiro.
Ms Lima lived in Bristol for 79 years since moving from Pico Da Pedra. She was employed as a spooler at Carr Fulflex for 20 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of St Elizabeth's Church and its Holy Rosary Sodality.
She leaves a son, Manuel Lima, Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Margaret (Peggy) DeLucca and Dorothy Nappi, both of Bristol, and 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Robert and Raymond Lima and the sister of the late Manuel and Jose Medeiros.
Her funeral was held Wednesday, Nov. 3, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth's Church, Bristol. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
Charles W. Barrett
Leaves a brother and sister in Warren
Charles W. Barrett of Azle, Texas, died Tuesday, Nov 9, 1999, in a Fort Worth, Texas, hospital. He was married to Charlotte Barrett. He was 67.
Mr. Barrett was born in Bristol. He served 22 years in the US Air Force before retiring in 1970 as a MSgt-USAF. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Besides his wife, Mr. Barrett leaves a son, William Barrett, and a daughter, Cynthia Barrett, both of Azle; a brother, William Modleski, Jr. of Warren; a sister, Ethel Ryan of Warren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Nov 11, at the Azleland Memorial Park.
