Margaret C. Doucette, 85, of 500 Swansea Mall Drive, Swansea, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at Country Gardens Nursing Home. She was the wife of Eugene F. Doucette Sr.
Born in Rehoboth, a daughter of the late Eugene E. and Clara Sophie (Quinit) Kammerer, she had lived in Rehoboth for 75 years before moving to Swansea. A retired machine operator, she was a member of Rehoboth Congregational Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Jean Weatherford of Clarksfork, Ind., and Carol Stevens of Dallas; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Monday, Sept. 22, in Rehoboth Village Cemetery in Rehoboth.
Hope M. Kiefer
Former resident
of Seekonk
Hope M. (Baker) Kiefer, 79, of Norton, Mass. and formerly of Seekonk, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Clifford E. Kiefer.
Born in East Providence, a daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude (Boardman) Baker, she had lived in Norton for 49 years and also in Seekonk.
A homemaker, she was educated in the Seekonk school system, and was a former member of Chartley United Methodist Church inNorton.
Mrs. Kiefer was a former member of the Massachusetts Archaeological Society. She enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, singing and playing the ukulele.
She leaves three daughters, Cheryl E. Carter of Norton, Claudia A. McLear of North Attleboro and Karen L. Kiefer of Pawtucket; a brother, Albert Baker of Seekonk; a sister, Rhoda Lewis of Virginia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a sister of the late Allison, Freeman, Carlton and George Baker, Ruth Tracey, Ellen Colwell, Gertrude Hughes and Sarah Gray.
Funeral services private. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in the chapel of Madonna Manor Nursing Home, 85 North Washington St., North Attleboro.
Rita E. Horan
Formerly of Rumford,
leaves daughter in Barrington
Rita E. Horan, 86, of Barker Avenue, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Grace Barker Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Robert G. Horan.
Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Warren P. and Elizabeth (Keron) Goff. She lived in Warren for four years having previously lived in Rumford.
She had been a communicant of St. Margaret Church in Rumford for many years.
She leaves two daughters, Duane H. Sullivan of Seekonk and Lisbeth H. Chew of Barrington; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George and Warren Goff.
Her funeral will be private.

John Fleet Isherwood Jr.
Tiverton Yacht Club member, enjoyed skiing
John Fleet Isherwood Jr., 60, Tiverton, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Mercier) Isherwood.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late John Fleet Isherwood Sr. and Helen (Garrity) Isherwood, he had lived in Tiverton for nine years.
Mr. Isherwood worked at C.L. Isherwood Appraisers, and had previously been a mechanical engineer and former owner of Salvo Machinery Corp. in Fall River. He also designed and manufactured custom food processing machinery for snack food manufacturers. He owned Citation, a line of wood and coal stoves.
Mr. Isherwood was a member of the Tiverton Yacht Club for many years, initiated its successful sail program, and raced boats worldwide. He participated in the Marion to Bermuda Race in 1983, finishing in third place, the J-24 Worlds Race in Newport, and in the Block Island Race Week. He enjoyed skiing.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, H. David Isherwood of Barrington, Christopher A. Isherwood of Tiverton and John F. Isherwood of Trinidad; two daughters, Katherine C. Hook of Middletown and Karin E. Coulter of Jamestown; a brother, Alan W. Isherwood of Plymouth, Mass.; and six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Diane Isherwood.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 22, from the Hathaway Home for Funerals in Fall River, with a Mass of Christian burial in Holy Name Church in Fall River. Burial followed in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.
Eunice L. Thompson
Spent much time in town
during her final years
Eunice L. Thompson, 91, of Dover, N.H., died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at the Hattie Ide Chaffee Home in Providence.
A daughter of the late Frank A. and Alta (Perkins) Thompson of Dover, she had spent much time in recent years with friends on Alfred Drowne Road. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, she taught in Vermont, North Berwick, Maine, and Connecticut before moving to Malden, Mass., where she taught junior high school for many years. After retiring, she worked at the Dover Public Library and did volunteer work at the Horne Street School in Dover. Most recently, she volunteered at the American Lung Association of Rhode Island.
She was a longtime member of and active participant at the First Parish Church, Congregational in Dover. Her family spent summers at Wells Beach, and she continued to do so through 2002.
Besides her friends in Barrington, she leaves three nephews, Ronald, Gregory and Rand Thompson. She was a sister of the late Russell Thompson of Dover.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 21, in Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eunice L. Marie F. Wright
Lived in town
nearly 60 years
Marie F. Wright, 96, formerly of Mason Road, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at the Health Havens Nursing Center in East Providence. She was the wife of the late John K. Wright.
Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, she lived in Barrington for nearly 60 years. A licensed practical nurse, she and her husband were operators of the former Haven Convalescent Home in the Pascoag section of Burrillville. She loved music and played several instruments.
She leaves two sons, J. Allan Wright of North Dighton, Mass. and James C. Wright of Masaryktown, Fla.; two daughters, Bernice C. Pontes of Barrington and Florence K. King of Providence; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral and burial services were private.
Dorothy Collins
Funeral services for Dorothy Collins were held Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service in St. Michael's Church.
The Rev. Canon John Van Siclen performed the service. Joyce Rodrigues and Lynn Wojtyto were the readers for the service.
Burial was in North Burial Ground. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Oberg, Daniel O'Shea, James Wojtyto and Daniel Ambrose.
Mrs. Collins, 92, of Shore Road died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Collins Jr.
Anthony Federico
Former resident,
retired printer
Anthony Federico, 77, of 20 Clipper Lane, Dennisport, Mass., and formerly of Bristol, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, Mass. He was the husband of Jeanette (Sabine) Federico, his wife of 55 years.
Born and raised in Bristol, a son of the late Francesco and Carmela (Azzarone) Federico, he was a resident of Dennisport for the last 10 years. He previously lived in Bristol and Dorchester, Mass.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Federico was a printer for 30 years at the former Daniels Printing Co., formerly of Boston, before retiring in 1985.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bristol and was a member of the Old Dorchester Post, American Legion, Dorchester. An avid New England Patriot fan for many years, he loved saltwater fishing and gardening.
Besides his wife, he leaves seven daughters, Valerie Smith of Weymouth, Mass., Donna Mitchell, of Dorchester, Manette McCarthy of Camarillo, Calif., Frances Federico of Goochland, Va., and Marie Gaglio and Gina Brayton, both of Bristol; a son, Michael Federico of Bristol; three sisters, Concetta Lamoureux of Naples, Fla., Theresa Swegel of Coventry, Conn., and Millie Correia of Bristol; and 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Ambrose and Peter Federico.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, at 9 a.m. from the Sansone Funeral Homes, 192 Wood St., with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street.
Visiting hours are Friday, Nov. 28, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Cecile A. Chouinard
Member of Franco American Civic League
Cecile A. Chouinard, 87, of 1215 Main Road, Tiverton, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at home in the Sakonnet Bay Manor Home. She was the wife of the late Emile J. Chouinard.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Ernest and Merilda (Patenaude) Caron, she had lived in Fall River for most of her life, moving to Tiverton five years ago.
Mrs. Chouinard had worked in the Fall River garment industry at the Nancy Dress Manufacturing Company and the Santoro Manufacturing Company for many years before retiring.
She was a member of the Catholic Women's Club, the Franco American Civic League, the St. Anne Fraternity Auxiliary, and the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality at St. Anne Parish, Fall River.
She leaves a brother, Normand Caron of Swansea; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Beatrice Pelletier, Lorraine Berube and Florence Arsenault.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, Fall River, with a funeral Mass at 10 in St. Anne's Church. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Fall River.
Mary Christo
Nurse's aide, great-grandmother of six
Mary (Duarte) Christo, 90, of Tiverton, died Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Crawford Skilled Nursing Home in Fall River. She was the wife of Manuel S. Christo, of Tiverton, to whom she had been married for 63 years.
Born in Fall River, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Cabral) Duarte, and she lived most of her life in Tiverton.
Mrs. Christo had worked as a nurse's aide for the former Truesdale Hospital in Fall River. She was a member of the Portuguese Alliance, a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton and was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne's Sodality. Mrs. Christo also belonged to the House of Israel Prayer Group.
In addition to her husband, she leaves one son, John Christo of Tiverton and a daughter, Teresa Norris of Tolland, Conn. She was the sister of Joseph Duarte of Fall River and Sarah, John and Dennis Duarte, all of Tiverton. She was preceded in death by the late Manuel Duarte. She was the grandmother of six and also great-grandmother of six.
Her funeral was held on Friday, Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. from Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost Church. Burial was in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Main Road, Tiverton.
Manuel D. Dutra
Army veteran of World War II, St. Barnabas communicant
Manuel "Babe" David Dutra, 80, of 1186 Middle Road, Portsmouth, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003. He was the husband of the late Virginia Grace (Heap) Dutra.
Born in Newport on April 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Manuel P. and Mary (Rocha) Dutra. Mr. Dutra had been a driver at St. George School, and had previously worked at the Torpedo Station on the Navy Base for 42 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, and was a life member of the Disable American Veterans.
He was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church, and a member of the BPOE Lodge Newport, NARFE, and the Fifth Ward Seniors Association.
He leaves a daughter, Virginia Grzyb; a grandson, Matthew Grzyb; and a granddaughter, Katie Grzyb. He was the brother of the late Mary Pinksaw.
The funeral was held Monday from Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Barnabas Church. Burial was private.
Howard M. Trueblood
Army veteran, weather forecaster
Howard Moffitt Trueblood, 88, of Providence and formerly of Little Compton, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003.
Born in Haverford, Penn., he was the son of the late Howard M. Trueblood Sr. and Louise (Nyitray) Trueblood. He had lived in Providence for the last 10 years.
Mr. Trueblood was a graduate of Hastings on the Hudson, (N.Y.) High School, and of Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., where his grandfather had been a professor. He was a graduate student in meteorology at New York University.
He entered the Army in World War II as a weather forecaster, serving in the American Theater in this country and in the Panama Canal Zone.
He also served as a consultant and weather forecaster at Westchester County Airport.
Mr. Trueblood joined the Air Pollution Project for The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, collecting statistics in air pollution.
After working with the U.S. Weather Bureau in New York he retired and went to live with his brother in Little Compton, later moving to Providence.
He is survived by his brother, Alan S. Trueblood of Little Compton; and sister-in-law, Jean T. Trueblood of Los Angeles. He is a brother of the late Kenneth (Niytray) Trueblood.
Friends are invited to the graveside service to be held on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m., at Union Cemetery, on The Commons, Little Compton.
Arrangements are by Fern Acres Funeral Home, Little Compton.
Geraldine A. DeBlois
Hairdresser, avid skier, enjoyed ceramics
Geraldine A. DeBlois, 60, of Orchard Avenue, Warren, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at Rhode Island Hospital.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Lillian (Perron) DeBlois. She was a lifelong Warren resident.
A hairdresser, Ms. DeBlois was employed by Ace Beauty Supply in Seekonk, before retiring in 1977.
She was a communicant of St. Jean Baptiste Church, Warren. An avid skier, she also enjoyed ceramics and at one time had her own studio.
She leaves two brothers, Richard DeBlois of Warren and David DeBlois of Bristol, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jane Curria.
Her funeral was on Monday, Nov. 24, from the William J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Jean Baptiste Church. She was buried in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery.
