Leaves a sister in Barrington
Ethel D. (D'Alessio) Burke, 93, of 55 High St, Bristol, died Friday, Feb 19, 1999, at Silver Creek Manor in Bristol. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Burke.
Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Maria A. (Cinque) D'Alessio. She worked for 10 years as a production worker at the Dixon Co. in Bristol, retiring in 1962. Previously, she worked for 35 years as a floor lady at the former Collins & Aikman Co. in Bristol.
A communicant of St. Mary's Church in Bristol, she was a 50-year member of Hope Circle No. 70, Daughters of Isabella.
She leaves three sisters, Rose Burke of Bristol, Ann Rash of Barrington and Flora Oliveira of Warren; a grandson, Charles W. Card of Sacramento, Calif., and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Cynthia L. Card, grandmother of the late John D. Card and sister of the late Charles, William, Frank and Edward D'Alessio, Helen Mascola and Hortense D'Alessio.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Sansone Funeral Home in Bristol, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary's Church. Burial followed in Bristol's North Burial Ground.
Katharine W. Perry
Country club golf champion
Katharine W. Perry of Providence died Friday, Sept 17, 1999, at home. She was the wife of Walter Perry, Jr.
Born in Montclair, NJ, a daughter of the late H. St. John Webb and Susan (Conant) Webb, she lived in Providence since 1994, previously living in Newport and Barrington.
Mrs. Perry graduated from Pine Manor Junior College in 1932. She was a member of the Rhode Island and Newport country clubs and was a former Rhode Island Country Club golf champion, a state seniors champion and the Rhode Island Country Club's seniors champion for several years.
She was a founding member of the Barrington Family Association and served on the board of Children's Friend and Service. She was a volunteer with Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island.
She was a former member of St. John's Church, Barrington, and Trinity Church, Newport.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Nancy Harris of East Providence and Patricia Merritt of Natick, Mass.; a son, Walter Perry, III of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Elizabeth Baldwin of Newton Square, Pa., and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Sept 21, at St. John's Church.
Michael E. Andreozzi
Past commander American Legion Post 8
Michael E. Andreozzi, 77, of 12 Bay Ave, died Thursday, Sept 23, 1999, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Edith (Whalon) Andreozzi.
Born in Barrington, he was a son of the late Francisco and Bella (Mastriano) Andreozzi. He was a lifelong resident of Barrington.
Mr. Andreozzi was an Army veteran of World War II and was a painter for Primiano Painting Co. before retiring in 1989.
Mr. Andreozzi was a past commander of American Legion Post 8 and the second district. He was a member of the German Club in Warren and the Barrington Democratic Club. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son Michael Andreozzi, Jr. of Wakefield; a daughter, Pauline Camara of Swansea; a brother, Rocco Andreozzi of West Warwick; two sisters, Phyllis Bettencourt and Mary Massa, both of Warren, and four grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Domenic, Frank and Raymond Andreozzi.
His funeral with military honors was held Saturday from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, Warren, with a Mass of Christian burial in Holy Angels Church. Burial was in Forest Chapel Cemetery.
John C. Sarracino
Retired deputy sheriff in Bristol County
John C. Sarracino of 29 Water St, Warren, died on Sunday, Sept 26, 1999, at home. He was 94.
Mr. Sarracino was married to the late Concetta (Vitullo) Sarracino. He was the father of Ramona Turner of Warren, with whom he lived.
Born in Barrington, he was a son of the late Carmine and Pasqualina (Paolino) Sarracino. He lived in Warren for more than 60 years.
Mr. Sarracino was a Bristol County deputy sheriff before he retired in 1970. He worked at the former US Rubber Co. plant in Bristol for many years.
Mr. Sarracino was a member of the Italian-American Club in Warren. He was a communicant of St. Alexander's Church in Warren.
Besides his daughter, he leaves a son, John C. Sarracino of Bristol, and five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a brother of the late Thomas, Rocco, Rinaldo and Orlando Sarracino, Concetta LaPolla, Mary Buckley and Linda Campagna.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am tomorrow, Sept 30, at 10 am at St Alexander's Church on north Main Street. Burial will be in Maria del Campo Cemetery in Barrington.
