Office worker, cashier lived in Tiverton
Ruth E. Chlebek, 83, of Main Road, Tiverton, formerly of Grinnell Avenue, Tiverton, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at home. She was the wife of Edward Chlebek to whom she had been married for 62 years.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Albert E. and Margaret (Donaldson) Holland. She lived in Fall River in her youth, and on Grinnell Avenue for 35 years, moving to Main Road in 1999. An office worker and cashier, Mrs. Chlebek worked at Grand Central Market in Tiverton, the former Kresge, now K-Mart, and Arkwright Manufacturing in Fall River.
She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1937, and Thibodeau's Business College in 1938. She was a member of the former United Presbyterian Church, now United Parish of Fall River, a former member of the Rainbow Girls and Past Worthy Advisor.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Edward Chlebek, Jr. of Yarmouthport, Mass., and Robert W. Chlebek of Jupiter, Fla.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late William E. Holland. Her funeral was on Monday, May 20, in the "Cherry Place" Home of Waring-Sullivan, Ashton, Coughlin, Driscoll in Fall River. She was buried in Pocasset Hill Cemetery in Tiverton.

Anibal Tavares Oliveira, 86, of 75 Montgomery St., Tiverton, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Grand Islander Nursing Home in Middletown. He was the husband of Zelia (Pereira) Oliveira.

World War II Navy veteran, worked at Newport NUSC
Raymond J. Martel, 80, of Old County Road died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Hilda (Martin) Martel.
Clinton E. Wood
Carpenter, lived in Westport most of his life
Clinton E. Wood, 84, of Westport, died Thursday, May 16, at home.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Milton E. and Alice (Bruckshaw) Wood, he lived in Westport for most of his life.
He was formerly employed as a carpenter.
Mr. Wood enjoyed restoring tractors and automobiles and spending time outdoors.
He leaves a sister, Avis Ironfield, of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Marion Stafford and Milton B. Wood.
Arrangements are by the Potter Funeral Home.

Steve Kissell, 52, of Westport died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Joanne Bedard.

Cecilia (Carvalho) Medeiros, 83, of Fall River, died Saturday, May 19, 2002, at Catholic Memorial Home after a long illness. She was the widow of Philip V. Medeiros, Sr.
Helen T. Guarniere
Funeral services for Helen T. Guarniere were held Friday, May 17, 2002, with a concelebrated Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth's Church.
The Rev. Thomas J. Ferland was the principal celebrant and homilist for the Mass. Concelebrants were the Rev. Barry J. Gamache, the Rev. Jude P. McGeough, the Rev. William Sullivan S.S.C and the Rev. Joseph McSweeney S.S.C.
Seminarian Scott Pontes was the reader for the prayers of the faithful and master of ceremonies for the Mass. Grandson Hans Schattle was the eulogist and a reader. Granddaughter Erica Schattle was also a reader.
Offertory gifts were presented by granddaughters Ann Schattle and Heidi Blais and grandson-in-law Brian Blais. Great-nieces Ashley and Maggie Hewitt were violinists. Ashley was also a vocalist, along with organist and soloist John Travers.
Burial followed in the North Burial Ground, where Father Ferland and Father McSweeney read the committal prayers. Pallbearers were Paul Aguiar, Jerry A. Biancuzzo, David L. LeMire, Edward K. Cunard, Romeo E. Moquin and Robert J. Guarniere.
Mrs. Guarniere, 84, of 1 Dawn Hill Road and formerly of Franklin Court, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at the Metacom Manor Health Center. She was the wife of the late Carmine C. Guarniere.
