Alice (Landoch) D'Alessio, 83, of 45 Sherman Ave. died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at home. She was the wife of the late Edward A. D'Alessio and the late John Laba.
Born and raised in Fall River, a daughter of the late Ludvik and Elizabeth (Drabicka) Landoch, she lived in Swansea before moving to Bristol many years ago.
Mrs. D'Alessio was a homemaker and a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
She leaves a sister, Jane Pavent of St. Petersburg, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Nancy Boiani, Helen LeComte, Joseph Landoch and Stanley Landoch.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., with a concelebrated Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, State Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Thursday, May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Anthony S. Bettencourt
Longtime resident, Don Luiz Filipe member
Anthony Sousa Bettencourt, 90, of Hope Street died Friday, May 17, 2002, at home. He was the husband of the late Anna (Vieira) Bettencourt.
Born in Sao Miguel, the Azores, the son of the late Manuel Sousa and Guilhermina (Jesus) Bettencourt. He lived in Bristol for 85 years after moving from Sao Miguel.
Mr. Bettencourt worked for Collins and Aikman, Bristol Manufacturing Co. and Converse Manufacturing Co. for many years before retiring in 1955. He was a member of the Portuguese Beneficial Association Don Luiz Filipe.
He leaves a daughter, Anna Silva of Warren; a son, Anthony Bettencourt of Bristol; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Lydia (Bettencourt) Ribiero.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 20, 2002, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home in Bristol, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth's Church. The celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. Thomas J. Ferland.
Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, where Father Ferland read the committal prayers. Pallbearers were Anthony Avila, Jacinto Medeiros, Raul Machado and Olindo Tavares, all members of the Don Luiz Felipe Association.

Funeral services for Maria J. (Correira) Milhomens were held Friday, May 17, 2002, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian burial in St. Elizabeth's Church. The Rev. John Duarte was the celebrant of the Mass and was assisted by concelebrants Rev. Thomas J. Ferland and Rev. Luiz Diogo.

Ellwsorth V. Stanley, 90, of Sowams Road, Barrington, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at home. He was the husband of Eleanor (Child) Stanley.
Betsy Chapin Keegler
Worked at one time at Barrington High
Betsy Chapin Keegler, 76, of Riverside and formerly of Barrington, died Monday, May 13, 2002, at the St. Joseph Hospital Rehabilitation Center in Providence, where she was recuperating from a fall. She was the wife of Kenneth W. Keegler; the couple would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in June.
Georgina Nobrega
Tiverton resident for 44 years
Georgina (Costa) Nobrega, 85, of 118 Hooper St., Tiverton, died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Southcoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Somerset. She was the wife of Seraphin G. Nobrega.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Mariano and Emelia (Amaral) Costa, she had lived in Tiverton for 44 years.
Mrs. Nobrega was employed as a zipper setter for many years in the local garment industry until retiring in 1978. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church, Tiverton.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Seraphin G. Nobrega Jr. of Fall River, and Richard Nobrega of Somerset; five sisters, Mary and Alice Moniz, Hilda Silvia, Genevieve "Jenny" Wyzerich and Evelyn Coelho, all of Tiverton; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Seraphin G. Nobrega, Jr. and sister of the late Manuel and Edward Costa Sr., and Antoinette Ferreira.
Her funeral was held on Saturday, May 18, from the Oliveira Funeral Home, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian burial in Holy Ghost Church. Entombment was in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Fall River.
