Ralph Woodson Featherstone
WILLISTON - Ralph Woodson Featherstone, 77, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Rowell officiating. Mr. Featherstone will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Featherstone was the son of the late Richard H. and Sadie (Curry) Featherstone and was born in Edgemoor. He had lived in Ft. Lawn before moving to Williston in 1966. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps in England aboard the Lady Grace. He was a member and a deacon at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Doris (Hunter) Featherstone; a son, William "Billy" and Gayle Featherstone of Aiken; four daughters, Diane and Carliss McHargue of Aiken, Sybil and Glen Thomas of Aiken, Barbara and Don McGee of Aiken and Brenda and Neal Boatwright of Williston; a brother, Richard Featherstone of Ft. Lawn; a sister, Agnes and Ken Corley of Chapin; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Carl McHargue, Chris McGee, Phillip Thomas, Brandyn Boatwright, Garrett McGee, PatrickTaylorand Howard Workman. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Mt. Beulah Baptist Church fund, 857 Mt. Beulah Road, Windsor, 29856.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 p.m.

Peggy Jones Hancock
Peggy Jones Hancock died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the chapel of Napier Funeral Home. The Rev. Marion Britton will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mrs. Hancock was the wife of the late Parker H. Hancock and daughter of the late James W. Jones and the late Ella Mae Glaze Jones. She was born in Oyster Bay, N.Y., but was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Aiken. Survivors include five daughters, Mary Dickert of New Ellenton, Beverly Chavis of Aiken, Deborah Efird of Warrenville, Jane Cato of Augusta and Sue Schmitt of Alabama; two brothers, Arnold Jones of Aiken and Terry Denzil Jones of Oveido, Fla.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Deborah Efird, 178 Baker St., Warrenville, or at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville.
Frank Smith Sr.
NEW ELLENTON - Frank Smith Sr., 80, of 410 South Boundary, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Funeral arrangements will be announced. Mr. Smith was a native of Aiken County and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Talatha Community. He was retired from the South Carolina Highway Department. Survivors include his wife, Cora Lee Smith; two daughters, Carelia Smith and Pauline (Sam) Gary, all of New Ellenton; three sons, Frank (Linda) Smith Jr. of Beech Island, Carl (Roslyn) Smith of Aiken and Hasting (Priscilla) Smith of North Augusta; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the residence.

Graniteville Co. retiree
Graveside services for J. Lawton Stroble Jr. will be held Friday, June 22, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Paul Rogers and Gene Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Graniteville Cemetery.
Mr. Stroble, 83, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Mr. Stroble was a native of Aiken County. He was a retired purchasing manager with the Graniteville Co. and was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, Graniteville. He served in the Army Air Corps and was a member of the Leisure Club of Graniteville and BASHA. He was the husband of the late Isabell Cook Stroble and the son of the late Joseph L. Stroble Sr. and the late Callie Ergle Stroble.
Survivors include two sons, Michael D. Stroble of New Orleans and Joe L. Stroble of Greenville; a brother, Jesse Stroble of Hawaii; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. John United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 38, Graniteville, 29829.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Napier Funeral Home.
Wade H. Barefield
Funeral services for Wade H. Barefield will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in the Talatha Community. The Rev. Joseph Cook will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Barefield, of Camellia St., died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Friends may call at the residence or at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning 3 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2001.
The remains will lie in state at the church Saturday from 2 p.m. until the hour of service.

CLEARWATER - Eloise R. Hixon Watson died Wednesday, June 20, 2001.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 22, 2001, at 4 p.m. at the Bath United Methodist Church.
The Revs. James Alewine and Frank Copeland will officiate.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson was the wife of the late Calvin Watson. She was a native of Columbia and a member of the Bath United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She was also a member of the Daughters of America, the Graniteville Leisure Club and the B.C. Club. Mrs. Watson was the house mother for the student nurses at Orangeburg Regional Hospital School of Nursing from 1973-1977. She was also a retired buyer for J.B. White's.
Survivors include a step-son, John T. Watson of Abilene, Tex.; siblings, Sally Bridges of Joanna, Jessie Barden of Gloverville and Birdelle Goeller of Granite City, Ill.; a step-grandchild and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be W.L. Barden, Mike Bledsoe, Grady Padgett, Wayne Ott, Jerry Cromer, Jerry Rucker and Bo Rucker.
Memorials may be made to the Bath United Methodist Church, Drawer C, Bath, 29816.

Mary A. Archer Wheat
teacher, headmistress
STAMFORD, CONN. - Mary Anderson Archer Wheat, 87, died Friday, June 15, 2001, at Stamford Hospital after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2001, at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken. The Revs. Leon Mezeliak Jr., Mellie Hickey and Howard Hess will officiate.
Burial will be in the St. Thaddeus Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Wheat was a resident of Aiken from 1953 to 1996. She was a teacher and guidance counselor at St. Angela Academy and Aiken High School.
She also served as headmistress at Aiken Day School and acting headmistress at Mead Hall.
She was president of the St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church Women and the first woman at the church to be elected to the vestry.
She was also president of the Aiken Branch and the South Carolina State Division of the American Association of University Women and was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a teaching honorary society.
Mrs. Wheat was the wife of the late Dr. J. Allen Wheat. Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Polly Wheat of Astoria, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the J. Allen and Mary Anderson Archer Wheat Scholarship Fund, Barnard College, 3009 Broadway, N.Y., N.Y, 10027., or the Mary Anderson Archer Wheat Research and Development Endowment, American Association of University Women, 1111 Sixteenth St., NW, Washington, D.C., 20036.

Aldus B. 'Sonny' Ivey Jr.,

AUGUSTA - Aldus B. "Sonny'' Ivey Jr., 62, of Bedford Drive died June 19, 2001, at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2001, at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet, N.C. The Rev. W.L. Williams will officiate and burial will be in Peels Chapel Cemetery, Laurel Hill, N.C.
Mr. Ivey was a native of Hamlet and had made Augusta his home for the past 50 years. He was a member of Peels Chapel Weslyan Church and was retired from Murray Biscuit Co. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Richardson Ivey; two sons, Allen E. Ivey of Rockingham, N.C., and William Rachels of Rock Hill; two daughters, Sherry I. Clarke of Belvedere and Ruth Green of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; a brother, Ernest Reynolds of Hamlet; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Gladys C. Hancock
BEECH ISLAND - Funeral services for Gladys C. Hancock, 84, of Gladys Drive will be held Friday, June 22, 2001, at 3 p.m. at the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. The Rev. Albert Tuten Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Hancock died June 19, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mrs. Hancock was a native of Metter, Ga. and had made Beech Island her home for the past 44 years.
Survivors include her husband, Walter M. Hancock; a step-son, Sterling Hancock of Beech Island; two step-daughters, Michelle Tuton of Estill and Debbie Wilson of San Francisco; a sister, Nita Long of Savannah, Ga.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Leon Floyd, Craig Williams, Ronnie Williams, Jim Kirk, Harvey D. Bellamy and Pete Steele.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. or at the residence.

ORANGEBURG - Quemella Felder, 84, of Whitman St. died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Orangeburg Nursing Home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Jackson's Memorial Chapel, Neeses.
Betty Jean Busbee Garland
GLOVERVILLE - Betty Jean Busbee Ingle Garland, of South Street, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the Langley Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Revs. Gene Brown, Buster Youngblood, Don Stephens and Ron Lawson will officiate. Burial will be in the Langley Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Hatcher Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m., or at the Garland residence or the residence of her daughter, Donna Daniels Boone, 1066 Minter Ave., Langley.

GRANITEVILLE - Roger Felton Martin, 61, of Trolley Line Road, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Shellhouse Funeral Home, Aiken. The Rev. Walter E. Newman will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Sheldonia Ray
WILLISTON - Funeral services for Sheldonia Ray will be held at 2 p.m.Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at the St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, Elko. The Revs. A.C. Settles and Phinice Young will officiate and burial will be in the St. Peter Memorial Garden.
Mrs. Ray, 50, of Jersey City, N.J., died Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Jersey City Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Hebert Ray; her parents, Eugene and Mary Dicks of Elko; two daughters, Cinita Ray of Jersey City and Runetta Ray of Atlanta; a son, Darrian Ray of Aurora, Colo.; an adopted son, Eric Miller of Atlanta; two sisters, Annie Jean Thomas of Blackville and Emma Jean O'Neal of Elko; two brothers, Freddie Dicks of Elko and Willie Dicks of Triangle, Va.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her parents, 35 Dicks St., Elko, or at the Simmons Funeral Home, Williston.

WILLISTON - Sarah Ann White, 51, died on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at the Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at the Young Rosemary Baptist Church, Williston, at 3 p.m.on Saturday, Feb. 9.
The Revs. Phinice Young and John Young will officiate.
Survivors include her mother, Carrie White of Williston; a granddaughter, Porsha Robinson of Williston; seven brothers, Herman, Sammy, Barrie, Willie, Bobby, Benny and Edgar White, all of Williston; and four sisters, Dorothy, Elaine, Carrie and Ethel White, all of Williston.
