Pearleaner Carriee
Pearleaner Carriee, 96, of 1062 Outaway Road, Aiken, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home.
A native of Barnwell County, Mrs. Carriee was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Barnwell and a member of the PCA Society.
Survivors include one daughter, Eloise C. Smith of Aiken; one son, John L Carriee of North Augusta; and several grandchildren.
Friends may call at the residence.

Freddie Lee McDougal
Freddie Lee McDougal, 50, of 2045 McDougal Road, Aiken, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shellhouse Funeral Home, with the Revs. Mark Miller and Richard McDuffie officiating. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include three children, Tammy Fields, Lori McDougal and Mark McDougal, all of Aiken; son-in-law, Van Fields; five sisters, Lois Gainey of Scranton, Leona Tomlinson of Florence; Nell Knotts of Florence; FrancisTaylorof Roanoke, Va. and Sandra Lee of Florence; one brother, W. Jack McDougal of Aiken; six grandchildren, Kenny Clark, Ashlee Clark, Kaci Fields, Jamie Armstrong, Jimmy Armstrong and Meagan McCabe.
Pallbearers will be Barry McDougal, Joey McDougal, Buddie Atkinson, J.T. Barker, Mickey Tomlinson and Steve Tomlinson.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 681 Silver Bluff Road, Aiken 29803.

James Steven Rowland
NEW ELLENTON - James Steven Rowland, 50, of Joyce Lane, New Ellenton, died Monday, June 3, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Foreman Memorial Baptist Church, with the Revs. Rick Rogers and Brancie Stephens officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Aiken Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the residence of Vida Rowland Martin, 502 Georgia Ave., New Ellenton, or from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Betty Jean Williams
BATH - Betty Jean Williams died Sunday, June 2, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hatcher Funeral Home, with Pastor John Wertz officiating. Burial will be in Langley Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was a daughter of the late Alex and Rita Shephard Williams.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Cantrell Williams.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Connelly of Comstock, Mich., and Walter Quarles of Beech Island; six daughters, Patricia Pettit of Smithville, Tenn., Diane Murphy of Aiken, Rita Walker, Donna Harris and Betty Quarles, all of Graniteville and Sharon Abbey of Johnston; two sisters, Janelle Widner of Bath and Joyce Terrigino of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Emerald Williams of Augusta; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Memorials may be made to the Betty J. Williams Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 1770, Langley 29834.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley.

John W. "Porterfield'' Jones Jr., former Weyerhauser Co. employee
Funeral services for John W. "Porterfield'' Jones Jr. will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at New Beginning Baptist Church. The Rev. James Jackson will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jones, 56, of Hatchaway Bridge Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at 500 Outing Club Road, Aiken.
Mr. Jones was a native of Barnwell County. He was a former employee at Weyerhaeuser Co. in Oakwood.
Survivors include a sister, Naomi Richardson of Aiken; and two brothers, Ealin Jones of Aiken and Freddie Jones of Oakwood.
Pallbearers will be Scott Trowell, Frederick Trowell, Rodney Trowell and Levern Geter.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his sister, Naomi Richardson, 500 Outing Club Road, Aiken, or at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001.

Eunice Johnson Turner
BELVEDERE Eunice Johnson Turner, 58, of Clairmont Avenue, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at Mt. Transfiguration Baptist Church. The Rev. Clarence Hill will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Moses Turner; a step-daughter, Shirley Ann Turner of Augusta; two sisters, Lillian Alice Hardy of Trenton and Georgia Bell Thompson of Augusta; and three brothers, James Edward Johnson of Trenton, Joseph Campbell of Aiken and Vincent Campbell of Columbus, Ga.

Isabel Matthews
Isabel Matthews, 93, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by George Funeral Home, downtown.

Ruth Marie Norviel
NORTH AUGUSTA - Ruth Marie Norviel, 74, of Culley Street, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Martinez United Methodist Church, Martinez, Ga. The Rev. Peggy H. Lowe will officiate.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
The Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, North Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

William C. Rhodes
NEENAH, WIS. - William C. Rhodes, 95, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, North Augusta. The Rev. Kevin Lobello will officiate and burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.

Margaret Walker Baughman
Margaret Walker Baughman, 75, of Laurens Street, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at the Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Central Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. W. H. Bryant will officiate.

Paul Ercell Boswell,

EDGEFIELD - Paul Ercell Boswell, of Jones Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley. The Rev. Eddie West will officiate and burial with military honors and Masonic rites will be held in Sunset Gardens, Johnston.
Pallbearers will be Rod Jones, Kirk Boswell, Sean Stutler, Troy Stutler, Kenneth Woodward and John Morris. Robbie Boswell will be an honorary pallbearer.
Mr. Boswell was retired from Life of Virginia, where he worked as a life underwriter for 37 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and had received a number of service medals. Survivors include his wife, Dawn Surface Boswell; a daughter, Paula B. Jones of Belvedere; three sons, Paul "Rick'' Boswell of Ridge Spring, Robert E. Boswell of Bath and Ronald "Ron'' W. Boswell of Helena, Mo.; two sisters, Anita Boswell Stutler of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and Peggie E. Boswell of Clearwater; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

William "Bill'' Caldon Sr.
William "Bill'' Caldon Sr., 72, of Aiken, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Jim Simoneau and Wes Holland will officiate and burial will be in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at George Funeral Home, downtown, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Virginia Simmons Behrens, writer and educator
MILWAUKEE, WIS. - Virginia Simmons Behrens, 55, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in Milwaukee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Williston United Methodist Church, Williston, S.C. Burial will be in the Williston Cemetery.
Mrs. Behrens was a native of Wilmington, N.C.
She was a graduate of Winthrop University with a bachelor of arts degree and a master of arts degree with honors. She worked in the Charlotte, N.C., school system and the Thomson, Ga. school system. She also worked at the Thomas Moore High School, Milwaukee, and the University of South Carolina Aiken.
Survivors include her parents, Leo and Iris Brunjes Simmons of Williston; her husband, Harry J.A. Behrens; two sons, Karl Behrens of Milwaukee and Harry Behrens Jr. of Macon, Ga.; a sister, Dr. Rebecca S. Weatherby of Chesterfield; and a brother, Dr. L. Ben Simmons of Wilmington, Del.
The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Folk Funeral Home, Williston, is in charge of arrangements.

Virgil Leroy Lamb
Virgil Leroy Lamb, of Aiken, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Napier Funeral Home, Graniteville.

Willie "Bigger'' Woodward
PHILADELPHIA - A memorial service for Willie "Bigger'' Woodward will be held at 6 p.m. today at the J.H. Robinson Funeral Home.
Mr. Woodward was a native of Salley. He was a son of the late John and Nettie Ready Woodward and was a former member of the Smyrna Baptist Church.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include four sisters, Julia B. Woodward, Lillian Gantt and Ruby Pickney, all of Salley, and Amelia Morehead of Washington, D.C.; and a brother, John Woodward of Salley.

Doris Anne Simpson
Doris Anne Trammel Simpson, 68, of Clarendon Place, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Town Creek Baptist Church, Aiken.
Entombment will be in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Anderson.
Mrs. Simpson was a native of Greenville. She was a daughter of the late Raymond H. and Doris M. Campbell Trammell.
Mrs. Simpson had lived in Aiken since 1994 and was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, L. Franklin Simpson III; a daughter, Suzanne Thompson of Aiken; two sons, Lee Simpson of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Jonathan Simpson of McCormick; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Marion Eubanks, Julian Thigpen, John Gambrell, Don Lemon, Caleb "Bo'' Herndon, James Shuford and Lee Rayfield.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box K, Aiken, 29802.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, 123 Beauregard Lane, Aiken.
Rivers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
