Leroy David Eggenberger, DOE retiree
Leroy David Eggenberger died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center.
Mr. Eggenberger, 67, resided at 1014 Williams Drive, Aiken.
A prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Rivers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rivers Funeral Home. The Rev. Gade Show Reddy will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
A native of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. Eggenberger was a son of the late Roy D. and Ann Pfeiffer Eggenberger. He was the chief of communications for the Department of Energy at the Savannah River Plant from 1977-87. Mr. Eggenberger had also worked as a communications consultant for the DOE's Forrestal Communications Branch in Washington.
He had served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Surviving are his widow, Rosemarie D. Eggenberger; a son, David K. Eggenberger, Aiken; a sister, Irene Ramer, Reading, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joe Alexander, Joe DeVore, Roy Steiger, Alan Foreman, Nevyn Rankin and Everard Grain.
Memorials may be made to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Wodholme Medical Building, Suite 515, 1838 Greene Tree Road, Baltimore, MD 21208.
Friends may call following the vigil service today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mitchell Koonce, retired farmer
KINSTON, N.C. - Mitchell Koonce died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001.
Mr. Koonce, 90, resided at 2579 Brookwood Road.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cotten Funeral Home, New Bern, N.C. The Revs. Tim Odom and Elbert Barrow will officiate. Burial will be in New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
He was the widower of Lillie Koonce.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Koonce, Kinston, and Richard Koonce, Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Mildred Koonce Parsons, Goldsboro, N.C., Frances Koonce Waters, Aiken, and Cindy Koonce Johnson, Grifton, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Friends may call at the residence or from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Alma Lewis Long, Graniteville Co. retiree
GRANITEVILLE - Alma Lewis Long died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Mrs. Long, 91, resided at 425 Ergle St.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley. The Rev. Barry Antley will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.
A native of Graniteville, Mrs. Long was a daughter of the late Paul Silas and Carrie Ella Shealy Lewis. She was retired from the Graniteville Co.
Mrs. Long was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, where she was also a member of the Leslie Sunday school class and the Ladies W.E.L.C.A. She was also a member of Senior Citizens Leisure Years Club.
She was the widow of Harold "Slim" Long.
Surviving are five nephews, Boyd Adams and Kenneth Price, both of Leesville, Hanes Price, Gilbert, Lamar Keisler, Aiken, and Carl Edward Keisler, Springdale; and four nieces, Reba Rediker, Gailsberg, Mich., Roberta Howell, Augusta, Joyce Taylor, Gilbert, and Patricia Ann Chavis, Lexington.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Leslie Sunday school class.
Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 98, Graniteville, S.C. 29829.
Friends may call from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Floia M. Miles
Floia M. Miles died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Mrs. Miles resided at 427 Richland Ave., SE, Aiken.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Miller's Funeral Home.
Surviving are her widower, Wallace Miles; and several nephews and nieces.
Friends may call at the residence or at the funeral home.

Austin D. Rodgers, Graniteville Co. retiree
WARRENVILLE - Austin D. Rodgers, 96, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Carriage Hill Nursing Home, Aiken.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Warrenville First Baptist Church. The Revs. Arthur Zawislak and Lewis McNeely will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Ridge Spring.
A native of Ward, Mr. Rodgers was a son of the late William Luzone and Cassie Watson Rodgers. He was retired from the Graniteville Co.
He was the widower of Blanche Kirkland Rodgers.
Surviving are three daughters, June Ferguson and Hazel R. Ferguson, both of North Augusta, and Pat R. Baker, Graniteville; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Warrenville First Baptist Church.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at Napier Funeral Home or one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Willie "Jack" Bibbs Jr.
BELVEDERE - Willie "Jack" Bibbs Jr. died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001.
Mr. Bibbs, 52, resided at 508 Samuels St.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Shaw's Creek Baptist Church, Trenton. The Rev. R. C. Holloway will officiate.
G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, Aiken, is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas A. Brennan, retired labor mediator
Thomas A. Brennan, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Eden Gardens.
Funeral services will be private.
A native of Plymouth, Pa., Mr. Brennan was a son of Timothy and Elizabeth (Mooney) Brennan. He was a retired federal labor mediator.
He was a member of the Highland Park Country Club.
Surviving are his widow, Margaret (McKane) Brennan; a son, Thomas A. Brennan Jr., Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and two daughters, Timothea Brennan, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Megan Ann Brennan, Aiken.
George Funeral Homes, Downtown, is in charge of arrangements.

Anna McKinney
Funeral services for Anna McKinney will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mine Creek Baptist Church, Saluda.
The Rev. George Key will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Miss McKinney, 90, of Pepper Hill Nursing Center, Aiken, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Friends may call at the home of her sister, 2966 Columbia Highway, Aiken, or one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Susan Louise Hand Morris, Ryan's waitress
WINDSOR - Susan Louise Hand Morris died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Mrs. Morris, 45, resided at 734 Windsor Road.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shellhouse Funeral Home. Burial will be in Morris Cemetery, Johnston.
Mrs. Morris was a waitress at Ryan's Steak House.
Surviving are her widower, Marion Gene Morris; two sons, Gene P. Morris, New York, and William Parker, Windsor; a daughter, Gina Morris, Windsor; a brother, Terry Hand, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Jackie Hand, Fort Lauderdale, and Julia Jefferson, Windsor; and a grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Sampie Noakes, James Noakes, Christopher Harding, Joshua Campbell, Charles Moxley Jr. and Paul McClure. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Morris and John Cambrone.

James "Bo" Walters, World War II veteran
BEECH ISLAND - James "Bo" Walters died Wednesday, Feb. 14 2001, at the V.A. Medical Center, Augusta.
Mr. Walters, 79, resided at 223 Pine Log Road.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Jackson Memorial Park. The Rev. Dan Hill will officiate.
Mr. Walters was a native of Columbia. He was a disabled U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
He was a member of the Gamecock Club at the University of South Carolina.
He was the widower of Juanita Squires Baxley Walters.
Surviving are a son, Neal Baxley, Beech Island; two daughters, Shirley Metts, Aiken, and Cathy Usry, Beech Island; a brother, Lester Walters, Columbia; two sisters, Doris Hall and Evelyn Pitts, Columbia; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kim Usry, Pat Baxley, Mac Metts, Ben Hawkins, Rodney Widener, Vince Hancock and Jimmy Moyer.

WAGENER - Funeral services for Leatha Jeffcoat Burgess Williams will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Saron Baptist Church, Wagener.

Mrs. Williams, 86, of 217 Railroad Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Willie James "Jabo" Smith
RIDGE SPRING - Willie James "Jabo" Smith, 62, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at his residence, 119 Williams St.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Young Second Baptist Church, Ridge Spring. The Rev. Reginald Byrden will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smith was a son of Rebecca Smith.
Surviving along with his mother are his widow, Dessie Smith; three sons, Ronny Smith and Gary Smith, both of Ridge Spring, and Darnell Smith, Batesburg; a daughter, Sandra Smith, Ridge Spring; three brothers, John L. Smith, Ervin Berry and Henry Smith, all of New York; six sisters, Jean Abney, Ruth Berry, Mary Barnes, Gloria Holmes, Deborah Pool and Dorothy Perry, all of New York; and four grandchildren.

Samuel Simmons
WILLISTON - Samuel Simmons died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Mr. Simmons, 87, resided at 361 Pearl Lane.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Summer Grove Missionary Baptist Church, White Pond Community. The Revs. Wilbur J. Simmons, Barney Glover and Gary Allen will officiate. Burial will be in the Simmons Family Plot, Windsor community.
A native of Aiken County, Mr. Simmons was a son of the late Charlie Simmons Sr., and Annie Ross Simmons. He was retired from Phelps Dodge Refining Corp., Maspeth, N.Y.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are three sons, Howard Simmons, Williston, Kenneth Simmons, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Alonzo Simmons, Freeport, Long Island; two daughters, Yvonne Simmons Lewis, Brooklyn, and Renee Simmons, Williston; a brother, Harold Simmons, Aiken; a sister, Grace "A.B." Allen, Aiken; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Holloway, Eric Cobb, Charlie "C.W." Simmons, Knoward Simmons, Kenneth Simmons, Randy Simmons, Louis Holston Jr. and Rueben Lewis.
