Hasting Wise, former bricklayer
Hasting Wise died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Wise, 76, resided at 163 Scott-Simmons Circle.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home.
A native of Aiken County, Mr. Wise was a former employee of Quattlebaum Contractors, Inc. where he worked as a bricklayer.
He was a member of Old Rosemary Baptist Church.
Mr. Wise was a member of the Palmetto Masonic Grand Lodge No. 267.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Wise; four daughters, JoAnn Wise, Bronx, N.Y., Alice Burley, Augusta, and Lillie Newbill and Mami Williams, both of Aiken; four sons, Hasting Wise, Ridgeville, Rosevelt Wise, Johnston, John Wise, Aiken, and Dwayne Wise, Junction City, Kan.

Ida M. Stallings
Ida M. Stallings died Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at University Hospital, Augusta.
Mrs. Stallings, 71, resided at 395 Biscayne Road.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cheatham Funeral Home.

Randolph Dawson Gunnells Sr.
OLAR - Randolph Dawson Gunnells Sr., 93, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at George's Creek Baptist Church, Govan, with burial in the church cemetery.
Folk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles V. "Charlie" Phillips,
NORTH AUGUSTA - Charles V. "Charlie" Phillips, 57, of Ashwood Drive, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, in the National Cemetery, Beaufort.
The Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home, North Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

Willie "Jack" Bibbs Jr.
JOHNSTON - Willie "Jack" Bibbs Jr. died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001.
Mr. Bibbs, 52, resided at 129 Egghouse Road.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, Aiken.
A native of Edgefield County, Mr. Bibbs was a son of Willie and Carrie Bibbs.
He was a member of Shaw's Creek Baptist Church, Trenton.
Surviving along with his parents are a son, Fredrick Bibbs, Moncks Corner; two daughters, Deadra Griffin, North Augusta, and Cynthia Bibbs, Moncks Corner; five brothers, Willie Mealing and Hayward Bibbs, both of Trenton, Stewart Bibbs, Johnston, Curtis Bibbs, Edgefield, and Leroy Bibbs, Saluda; four sisters, Dorothy Bibbs and Gloria Ligons, both of Johnston, Shirley Moor, Edgefield, and Annie Pixley, Aiken; and 14 grandchildren.

Thomas A. Brennan
Thomas A. Brennan died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001, at Eden Gardens.
Mr. Brennan, 80, resided in Aiken.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by George Funeral Homes, Downtown.

Lester Itson Brown, SCDOT retiree
BATESBURG-LEESVILLE - Lester Itson Brown, 80, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Milton Shealy Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville. The Revs. Dr. David Coleman and Larry Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in Kneece Cemetery.
A native of Lexington County, Mr. Brown was a son of the late W. P. and Arzella B. Brown. He was raised by the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Smith. Mr. Brown was retired from the S.C. Department of Transportation.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.
He was a member and deacon of Hulon Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Dorothy Senterfeit Brown; a son, Steve Brown, Batesburg-Leesville; a daughter, Belinda Boland,
Batesburg-Leesville; foster children, Brenda B. Senterfeit, Gary Botts, Tommy Botts and Joey Curado; foster brothers, Clyde Smith and Lance Smith, both of Monetta; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Brown, Michael Hartley, Mark Senterfeit, Richard Senterfeit, David Smith and Kenny Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Men's Class and deacons of Hulon Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to Hulon Baptist Church Happy Hearts and to Connie Maxwell Children's Home.
Friends may call at the residence of his son, Steve Brown, 563 Henry Smith Road, Batesburg-Leesville, or from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ruby M. Carter, floral shop owner
GRANITEVILLE - Ruby M. Carter, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, in Augusta.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Napier Funeral Home. The Revs. Keith Randall and George R. Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
A native of Darlington, Mrs. Carter was a daughter of the late Rev. Roland Clifton and Mildred Hatchell Jowers. She was a florist and owner of Ideal Florist shop.
Surviving are three daughters, Nora Bodiford, Williston, and Sylvia Ellen Carter and Ruby Christina O'Conner, both of Greenville; a brother, Thomas Joseph Jowers, Aiken; two sisters, Zula Mae Johnson, Warrenville, and Carolyn Agerton, Aiken; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the residence of her sisters, Zula Mae Johnson, 111 Dewey St., Warrenville, or from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Johnny Leon Chavis, Eden Gardens chef
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Johnny Leon Chavis, 51, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at the V.A. Medical Center, Augusta.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Bath Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Revs. Bill Branch and Joel Mundy will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Graniteville.
A native of Aiken, Mr. Chavis was a son of Sadie Chavis and the late Ouitman Chavis. He was a chef with Eden Gardens, Aiken.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Bath Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving along with his mother are his widow, Paulette Grover Chavis; a son, Johnny Chavis Jr., Clearwater; three daughters, Jenni Chavis, Statesville, N.C., Bridget Tice, Woodbridge, Va., and Leslie Chavis, North Augusta.; a step-son, Nathan Hoffman, Clearwater; a step-daughter, Krystal Carland, Augusta; a sister, Rosemary Eubanks, Warrenville; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hawkins, Rufus Kneece, Ricky Eubanks, Buster Allen, Toby Truell and Tommy Barton.
Friends may call at the residence of his mother, 336 Carline Road, Langley, from 7-9 p.m. today at Napier Funeral Home or one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Anna McKinney, retired nurse's aide
Anna McKinney died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Miss McKinney, 90, resided at Pepper Hill Nursing Center, Aiken.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mine Creek Baptist Church, Saluda. The Rev. George Key will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Saluda County, Miss McKinney was a daughter of the late James Edward and Georgia Anna Lark McKinney. She was a retired nurse's aide.
She was member of Mine Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving is a sister, Lillie Mae Johnson, Aiken.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Friends may call at the home of her sister, 2966 Columbia Highway, Aiken, or one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Butler and Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, is in charge of arrangements.

Susan Louise Hand Morris
WINDSOR - Susan Louise Hand Morris died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Mrs. Morris, 45, resided at 734 Windsor Road.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Shellhouse Funeral Home, Aiken.
Surviving is her widower, Marion Morris.

Randy Perkins, CSI construction employee
NORTH AUGUSTA - Randy Perkins died Monday, Feb. 12, 2001.
Mr. Perkins, 44, resided at 1014 Weston St.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Pitcher will officiate. Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Gardens.
A native of North Augusta, Mr. Perkins was a son of Rachel Daniel. He was employed by CSI Construction Co.
Surviving along with his mother is a brother, Ray Perkins, Beech Island.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James "Bo" Walters, World War II veteran
BEECH ISLAND - James "Bo" Walters died Wednesday, Feb. 14 2001, at the V.A. Medical Center, Augusta.
Mr. Walters, 79, resided at 223 Pine Log Road.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Jackson Memorial Park. The Rev. Dan Hill will officiate.
Mr. Walters was a native of Columbia. He was a disabled U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
He was a member of the Gamecock Club at the University of South Carolina.
He was the widower of Juanita Squires Baxley Walters.
Surviving are a son, Neal Baxley, Beech Island; two daughters, Shirley Metts, Aiken, and Cathy Usry, Beech Island; a brother, Lester Walters, Columbia; a sister, Doris Pitts, Columbia; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be U.S. Navy honors.
Memorials may be made to Open Bible Baptist Church, 2100 Atomic Road, Beech Island, S.C. 29842.
Friends may call at the residence of from 7-9 p.m. today at Hatcher Funeral Home, Langley.
