Services for Evander McIver Ervin, 85, of Florence were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, at the First Presbyterian Church of Florence. Interment followed in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Kistler Funeral Home. Mrs. Ervin died on Thursday, July 13, at her residence. She was born
in Spartanburg, S.C. and was the daughter of the late Joseph Wilkins and Margaret Ravenel Mansfield. Mrs. Ervin taught school in Darlington County and was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Florence. Mrs. Ervin was predeceased by her husband, Evander McIver Ervin in 1983 and by her brother, E. Ravenel Mansfield in 1985. Survivors include four daughters, Margaret Ervin (David) Parr of Newberry, Ida Ervin (Alva) Whitehead of Florence, Agnes Ervin Wiles of Columbia and Penn Ervin (Thomas) Grove of Knoxville, Tenn.; three sisters, Agnes Adger Mansfield of White Rock, Elizabeth Ravenel Mansfield of Florence and Josephine Mansfield (Mickey) McGuire of Greensboro, N.C.; nine grandchildren, David Boyd Parr Jr., Ravelnel Parr Goldbold, Mary Nance Parr Joseph, Dr. Alva Weaver Whitehead Jr., Maria Whitehead McKibbon, Evander McIver Ervin Whitehead, Henry Edmund Ravenel Whitehead, Michael Thomas Grove, Ervin McIver Grove; and three great-grandchildren. Services for Rosie Campbell Gilbert, 67, were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Arthur Zawislak officiated with burial in the church Cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Mrs. Gilbert, widow of James L. (Babe) Gilbert, died on Thursday, July 13, 2000. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late James Duncan and Mary Wilkes Campbell. She was a member of Wilkes Chapel United Methodist Church and was retired from MAFCO. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Cliff L. and Lisa Gilbert of Hartsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Charles Broach of Hartsville, Janet and Charles McGuire of Willow Springs, N.C.; sister, Molley Stafford of Chesterfield; and seven grandchildren.
CHARLES MUMFORD SR.
Services for Charles "Charlie" Mumford Sr., were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Jerusalem Baptist Church with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home. Mr. Mumford died Thursday, July 13, in Charleston after an illness. Born in Darlington County, he was one of 12 children of the late Fred and Sylvia Backus Mumford. He was reared on the farm during his early life and later was employed with the Old Bleachery before his employment with Klopman Textile Plant of Society Hill, where he worked until his retirement in 1977. He maintained a lifetime membership in Jerusalem Baptist Church and served seven days a week with efforts to maintain a beatiful structure on clean grounds. He was a faithful servant of his church and served in many capacities, Sunday School Teacher, member of the choric, Prayer leader and Senior Deacon. He was also a member of the Mt. Rona Masonic Lodge #348. He was predeceased by all his siblings. Survivors include three sons, Ronald (Beulah) Mumford and Gerald (Jeanette) Mumford, both of Hartsville and Cleveland (Ann) Mumford of Tacoma, Wash.; two nieces, Willette Toney of Hartsville and Annie Mae Wingate of Darlington; one nephew, Leroy Mumford of Philadelphia, Pa. and a host of very dear friends.

Services for Edward Graham, of Darlington, will be held at 3 p.m. today, July 19, 2000, at New Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Young & Young Funeral Home. Mr. Graham, 61, died Saturday, July 15, at his home after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County, a son of the late James and Annie Mills Graham. He received his education in Darlington County public schools and attended New Hopewell Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Hunter of Darlington; two daughters, Joe Ann McFarland of Society Hill and Betty Lisney of Queens, N.Y.; a son, James Graham of Hartsville; a step-daughters, Paulette McCall of Hartsville; seven step-sons, Toney Hunter, Matine Hunter, Ivory John, Andie Graham and Bryan Graham, all of Darlington, Larry Johnson and Paul Hunter, both of Hartsville; six sisters, Mae Dot Lee, Louise Graham, Mary Ann Graham and Ininian Graham, all of Brooklyn, N.Y., Geraldine Graham of Hartsville and Dianne Kelley of Florence; five brothers, Harvey Graham of Brooklyn, N.Y., Jimmy Graham, Ray Graham, Archie Zimmerman and George Zimmerman, all of Hartsville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hunter was a member of St. James Holiness Church and retired from Delta Mills after 28 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Benjamin Hunter of Society Hill; two sons, Jonathan Hunter of Bennettsville and Johntavis Hunter of Society Hill; three sisters, Lillian (James) Bodrick of Society Hill, Nettie (Joe) Gant and Magnolia (Otis) Little, both of Hartsville; six brothers, Robert Hunter and James (Earline) Hunter, both of Society Hill, Jerome Hunter of Hartsville, Preston Hunter Jr., George Walter Hunter and Franklin Hunter, all of Washington, D.C. and grandchildren.

in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Viola Boseman and Waymom Simmons. She was the widow of Willie Rubin. She was a life member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was the Mother of the church. Survivors include a special cousin, Louise Baccus of Darling-ton; three nieces, Helen (Hey-ward) Derry of Darlington, Sarah Ervin of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Lula Ervin of White Plains, N.Y.; four nephews, Rev. Waymon (Senora) Mumford, Abe (Prophet Mittie) Mumford, Sam (Princola) Mum-ford and James (Serena) Mum-ford, all of Florence; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial followed in the church Cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home. Mr. Lee, 96, died Saturday, July 1, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born
in Lee County, a son of the late Arthur and Minnie Jackson Lee. At an early age, he joined Sandy Grove United Methodist Church and remained a member throughout his life. Survivors include four sons, Ulysses Lee and Carnell Lee, both of Baltimore, Md., Lawrence (Jannie) Lee of Hopkins and Lonnie Lee of Lamar; seven daughters, Mrs. Fostine (James) Jarmon, Ms. Pandora Phillips, both of Baltimore, Md., Ms. Yvonne Lee of Columbia, Miss Florence Scott of Darlington, Velencia Lee, Ms. Rudell Lyde and Ms. Naomi (Napolean) Carter, all of Lamar; one brother, Winston (Mary Ellen) Lee of Timmonsville; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Henry Bachelor Randolph, 77, of Darlington, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2000, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Randolph was born
in Johnston, S.C., the son of the late Henry and Delma Rhoden Randolph. He received his B.A. in pharmacy from the University of South Carolina where he was president of Pi Kappa Phi in 1948. He was an active pharmacist for 51 years. Mr. Randolph served his country in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific. He had many interests and was involved in many civic and professional organizations and was an active member of the Lions Club. He was instrumental in the organization of the Pee Dee Pharmaceutical Association and remained an active member. Surviving are five children, Mike (Kay) Randolph of Florence, Russell Randolph of Nantucket, Mass, Beth (Gary) Brock of Ruby, Lee (Sydney) Randolph of Darlington and Josie (Paul) Solomon of Pawley’s Island; one grandson, Henry Solomon;and his former wife and deer friend, Jo Alice McMillan Randolph.
