Services for Luise Steger, 85, were held today, Sept. 27, 2000, at the Karlsruhe/Aue Memorial Chapel and Cemetery in Karlsruhe, Germany. Mrs. Steger died Sunday, Sept. 24. Born a Weber March 10, 1915, in Karlsruhe, Germany, where she lived all her life. Surviving are a son, Walter Steger of Karlsruhe, Germany; five daughters, Ute Siegrist, Karin Weidlich, Silvia Lucas, Ruth Ritzinger, all of Karlsruhe, Germany, and Walburga Winbur, wife of Cordy L. Winburn Jr. of Hartsville; one sister, Herta Koch of Ontario, Canada; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Lakeview Baptist Church.
JACK D. PROSSER
Services for Jack D. Prosser, 79, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, in the chapel of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home with interment following in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Mr. Prosser died Friday, Sept. 22, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born
in Florence County, a son of the late John Adam and Martha Tilton Prosser. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed by James Rivers/Dixie Products for more then 35 years before his retirement. Mr. Prosser was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Faith Mission Church. His wife of 42 years, Mrs. Grace Byrd Prosser, and a son, John David Prosser, preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Jerry (Patricia) Byrd of Florence; four daughters, Sheila (John) Palmer, Leslie Margold (David) Chambers, Mary P. (James) Haselden and Deborah (Ricky) Bazen, all of Florence; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Mrs. Jean Howle of Darlington.

Services for Bobby Gene Horne, 67, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 27, 2000, at the Kelleytown Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Anderson, officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, directed by Norton Funeral Home. Mr. Horne was born
in Darlington County, a son of the late Joseph and Alma Kennington Horne. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co., a member of the Old Timers Club, Hartsville Masonic Lodge and a veteran of the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Joyce McCaskill Horne of Hartsville; a daughter, Shawn H. Tiller, a son, Joe Horne, a brother, George Horne, all of Hartsville; six sisters, Maggie Moody, Mary Grenier, Pat (Floyd) Schreckenghost, Dot (Delmouth) McElveen, Lorece Carnahan, all of Hartsville, and Eleanor (Jim) Davidson of Satellite Beach, Fla.; and a grandson, Jordan Tiller of Hartsville. He was preceded in death by a brother, J. W. Horne, and a sister, Elizabeth Morrell.

Services for Everett E. Weatherford, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 27, 2000, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Hazel Mixon will officiate with burial in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Weatherford died Sunday, Sept. 24. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Willie and Lela Gainey Weatherford. He was a member of the Church of the Living God and was a retired carpenter. Surviving are his wife, Sara Gainey Weatherford of Hartsville; three sons, Ronnie Weatherford of Hartsville, Donnie Weatherford of McBee and David Weatherford of Sumter; a daughter, Cynthia Gainey of Hartsville; a step-daughter, Judy Cox of Patrick; a sister, Verlie Hodge of Hartsville, and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Pettigrew, widow of Belar Pettigrew, died on Friday, Sept. 15, in a Florence hospital after an illness. She was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of Mrs. Thelma Frazier Rivers. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Thelma Frazier Rivers of Timmonsville; eight daughters and three sons, Sarah L. (Frank) Phillips of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mary Louise Smith of Tucker, Ga., Ethel (Sidney) Backman, Wilma (Frank) Dargan, both of Lamar, Geraldine McAllister of Baltimore, Md., David (Rose Ann) Pettigrew of Queens, N.Y., Helen (Richard) Prescott of Paterson, N.J., Rosa Mae (Conrad) Mills of Teaneck, N.J., Walter (Louise) Pettigrew, Moses Pettigrew, both of Lamar, Rose Mary Taylor and Odell (Aaron) Lattimore, both of Detroit, Mich.; 30 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Montel McDaniel of Florence, Ella Mae Williams and Julia Samuel, both of Timmonsville, and Willie Mae Jordan of Darlington; and three brothers, Roland Rivers, Toney Rivers and Horace Rivers, all of Timmonsville.

Services for Ellen McAllister Mack were held at noon, Sept. 2, 2000, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Syracuse Community, officiated by her nephew, the Rev. Melvin McAllister of Woodwich, N.J. Interment was in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home of Darlington. Mrs. Mack died Wednesday Sept. 20, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. She was born
in the Syracuse Community of Darlington County. For the last several years, she resided at Faith Health Care Facility in Florence. At an early age, Ms. Mack was converted and joined Shiloh United Methodist Church. She attended public schools in Darlington and Florence counties. Mrs. Mack was married
to the late Wallace Mack and to this union two children were born, Edna and Carrie, who preceded her in death. Survivors include her dear and devoted brother, the Rev. Joseph McAllister Sr. of Darlington; five grandsons; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren and a host of special nieces and nephews.

PATRICK - Services for Mary Tyner Huggins, 80, who died Sept. 27, 2000, will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bay Springs Bap-tist Church. The Revs. Dean Parker and Johnny Tyner will officiate. DARLINGTON - Ruby Mae Thurman Nothey, 76, died Wednesday evening at her residence after an illness. Private funeral services will be held at a later date, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Mrs. Nothey, wife of Robert Allen Nothey, was born
in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of the late Rev. Paul Lee and Bertie Mae Brockwell Thurman. Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a daughter, Shirley A. Baetjer of Florence; two sons; four grandchildren, Teresa Diffenderfer of Ohio, William Martin of Florida, Dana Martin of Maryland, and Denise and Dennis Nutter, both of Florence; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene Sharpe of Darlington; and a brother, Homer Thurman of Asheville. The family will receive friends at the home of Shirley Baetjer, 901 Inglewood Dr., Florence.

COLUMBIA - Services for Helen Moore Henderson, 77, will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at 11 a.m. at St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church with burial in the St. Martin’s Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church. Mrs. Henderson, widow of Hastings Wyman Henderson Sr., died on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000. Born in Greenville, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Raymond Lemuel Moore and Helen Ball Moore. She was a member of St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church. Surviving are her son, Hastings W. Henderson Jr., of Kissimmee, Fla.; daughter, Helen Ball Barrett of Hartsville; sister, Frances Moore Wilkins of Atlanta, Ga.; and grandson, Bradley S. Barrett.

LAMAR - John B. "J.B." Dority, 79, died on Wednesday morning in a Florence hospital after an illness. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at Lamar Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Lamar Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home, Lamar Chapel. Mr. Dority was born
in Sumter County the son of the late Raymond R. and Alma Conyers Dority. He was employed at Charleston Navy Shipyard for a number of years and was a member of Lamar First Baptist Church and Benton Masonic Lodge #26 in Timmonsville. Surviving are his wife, Annie Amerson Dority of the home; two sons, John B. "Blandy" Dority Jr. of North Augusta and Don R. Dority of Lamar; a daughter, Alice Elizabeth D.
