Timothy "Tim" Campbell, formerly of Hartsville, died on Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in a Washington, D.C., hospital after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home.

Services for Timothy Campbell Sr. were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at Liberty Hill Holiness Church with burial at New Hopewell Church Cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home. Mr. Campbell died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C., after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County to the late Arnold and Cora Campbell. He was employed at Sonoco Products Company as a cement finisher and retired after 34 years of dedicated and faithful service. He was a member of the Liberty Hill Holiness Church, where he served in various capacities until his death. Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Charles and Mary Campbell, both of Washington, D.C., and Joyce Warren of New York, N.Y.; four sons, Willie (Michelle) Campbell of Hayward, Calif., James (Binah) Campbell and Harold (Francine) Campbell, both of Washington, Md.; a sister, Gloria Holmes of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services for Margaret Cox Beasley, 97, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Hebron United Methodist Church with the Revs. Carolyn Malphrus and Hazel Mixon, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hebron United Methodist Church or to the local rescue squads. Mrs. Beasley, widow of Edward Jennings Beasley, died Tuesday, Oct. 10. Born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Treze V. and Sara Altonia Smith Cox. She was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Limestone College, taught school for 31 years and was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association. Surviving are her son and daughters-in-law, Horace C. and Linda Beasley of Bishopville, Gayle Beasley of Bethune, Evangelina R. Beasley of San Antonio, Texas; brother and sisters-in-law, Smith J. and Beryl Cox of Chesnee, Jane Duke of Bishopville, Rowena Beasley of Hartsville; brothers-in-law, R. L. "Fritz" Nitsch of Spartanburg, F. M. Beasley of Bishopville; grandchildren and spouses, Thomas T. Beasley, Horace E. and Tamara Beasley, June and Bobby Weatherford, Treze Beasley Jr., Darin Beasley, Sandra and John Sayegh; nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, William Thelbert Beasley and Treze J. Beasley; and a sister, Virginia Nitsch.

DARLINGTON - Memorial services for Thomas "Tom" Blackmon were held Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, in the chapel of Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home with the Rev. P. W. Williams officiating. Mr. Blackmon died Sunday, Oct. 8, in Trident Regional Hospital, North Charleston, after an illness. He was the son of the late Tracy and Melrose Blackmon. Survivors left to cherish his memory are his common-law-wife, Ms. Mae Mouzon of Darlington; four sons, Thomas Christopher Blackmon of Hickory, N.C., Anthony and Jeffrey Quick of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Tommy Blackmon of Darlington; a daughter, Brenda Mouzon of Darlington; three sisters, Ms. Hattie Blackmon of Bronx, N.Y., Ms. Ola Dright and Ms. Elizabeth Isaac, both of Darlington; one brother, Chestley Blackmon of Bronx, N.Y.; two grandsons, three granddaughters, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

in Kershaw County, a daughter of Thomas and Nannie Duren Lee. She was educated in Kershaw County public schools. She was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church, Senior Choir, Missionary Society and Joint Stock Lodge #726, and retired from Thad E. Saleeby Developmental Center Aug. 29, 1991. Surviving are two daughters, Nannie R. Lee and E. Naomi (Willie) Woodham, both of Hartsville; a son, Willie (Cassandra) Lee of Cary, N.C.; a brother, James Lee of Baltimore, Md.; a sister-in-law, Alta Mae Lee of Hartsville; an adopted daughter, Helen (Ralph) Johnson of Hartsville; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; nephews; and other close relatives and friends.

DARLINGTON - Services for Edward H. Reynolds Sr. were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment followed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Cemetery in Society Hill directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. Mr. Reynolds died Saturday, Oct. 14, after a long illness at his residence in Darlington. He was born
in Hartsville on July 29, 1938, and was the son of the late Luther and Pearl Jones Reynolds. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was very active in his church until the last few years due to illness. He served in many leadership positions throughout his years of service to his church and was a man of great integrity, who loved the Lord, his family and his friends. Throughout the many years that he served in various positions, his most cherished and memorable was that of Scout Master of Troop 506. He served in this capacity for many years and had his life touched by many young men, including his sons and several nephews. Mr. Reynolds was employed with Union Carbide, (now ESAB) from 1967 until he was disabled in 1996. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother. Surviving are his wife, Tobie Ann Cook Reynolds; two daughters, Pamela and Penny Reynolds of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ed Jr. and Margaret Sanders Reynolds of Patrick and Wayne and Michelle Hudson Reynolds of Darlington; two grandchildren, Danny and Amanda Reynolds of Patrick; and a sister, Mrs. Helen Gainey Rose of Darlington. Mr. Reynolds is the son-in-law of Robert H. Cook Sr. and the late Edith F. Gainey Cook. He has many nieces and nephews and has been a father and grandfather for many others.

Services for Washington Price Timmerman Jr., 93, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert Cline officiated with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Mr. Timmerman, husband of Margaret Jordan Timmerman for 68 years, died Saturday, Oct. 14. Born in Batesburg, he was a son of the late Washington Price and Mary Swygert Timmerman. After graduating from Clemson College in 1928, he moved to Hartsville where he was a teacher and coach at Hartsville High School. He later was employed by Sonoco Products Company and retired in 1971 after 37 years of service. Mr. Timmerman was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartsville where he served as Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, member of the finance committee, deacon and chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was instrumental in the foundation and development of North Hartsville Baptist Church. He was a past Master and life member of Masonic Lodge #173, had served as president of the Hartsville Civitan Club and vice president of the North Carolina/South Carolina Civitan Clubs. He also served on the Hartsville City Council. Surviving are his wife of Hartsville, sons and daughters-in-law, Albert J. Timmerman and W. P. and Sally F. Timmerman III, both of Greenville, Dr. John H. and Garland H. Timmerman of Chapin; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Thomas K. Carter of Pendleton; brother, John S. Timmerman of Edgefield; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

DARLINGTON - Services for Cozella "Tootsie Pop" Gregg Richardson, 44, were 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, in New Providence Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hoodfield Cemetery directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home. Mrs. Richardson died Friday, Oct. 6, after an automobile accident. She was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Leo "Tac" Gregg and Pauline Gibson Gregg. She attended Darlington County public schools. She was a life member of New Providence Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member of the Junior Missionary, the Gospel Choir, the Inspirational Choir and the Kitchen Committee. In the community, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Pleasant Grove Chapter #339. She was employed by the Darlington County School District as a cafeteria worker at Pate Elementary, Rosenwald Elementary, St. John’s High and at the time of her demise, she was assistant cafeteria supervisor at St. John’s Elementary School. Survivors include her husband, Jerome Richardson Sr. of the home; two children, Angela Renee Richardson and Jerome Richardson Jr.; three children she reared as her own, Timothy Gregg, Shanard Lunn and Aaron Butler, all of the home; five grandchildren; a special grand, Jada Inoa Richardson; (a granddaughter, Airra Mona Richardson, preceded her in death); four sisters, Mrs. Creola Johnson, Ms. Mildred Bruce, Mrs. Lucille (Priestly) Hunter, Ms. Pauline Butler and Mrs. Maggie (Lorenzo) Anderson, all of Darlington; six brothers, Leo (Nedra) Gregg, Herbert (Elsie) Gregg, both of Thomasville, N.C., Cornelius (Ernestine) Gregg, James (Sheila) Gregg, all of Darlington, and Robert Gregg of Buffalo, N.Y.; her mother and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe and Louise King of Darlington; 12 sisters-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; seven aunts, two uncles; a special cousin, "Tootsie" Moise; a host of nieces and nephews. Her brother, Nathaniel; parents, Leo and Pauline Gregg, preceded her in death.
