COLUMBIA - Wake services for Aileen McKenzie Mullis, 66, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at the family residence. Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, is in charge. Mrs. Mullis died Monday, Oct. 16. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late Robert Alexander McKenzie and Mary Helen Reid McKenzie. Surviving are her husband, Michael Earl Mullis; four children, John Kelly and Scott Kelly, both of Philadelphia, Pa., Linda Dixon of Columbia, and Andrew Kelly of Hartsville; seven grandchildren, Nick McLean, Danielle Dixon, Allison Dixon, Roman Kelly, Remmy Kelly and André Kelly.

DARLINGTON - Services for James E. "Jimmy" Wilson, 66, will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Darlington. Interment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Belk Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Darlington NCO Scholarship Fund, 1750 S. Main St., Darlington, S.C. 29532. Mr. Wilson died Tuesday, Oct. 17, after a sudden illness. He was born
in Florence County, the son of the late Leslie Poe "Sam" and Mary Andrews Wilson. He attended St. John’s High School and was a retired agent with Liberty Life Insurance. He also worked with metal flower stands for funeral homes and flower shops as a hobby. He retired from the S. C. National Guard after 30 years of service as a Sergeant First Class. Mr. Wilson was a member of First Baptist Church in Darlington and the Vance Hardin Sunday School Class. He was a Mason, Shriner, and a member of the American Legion. He was also an avid gardener and fisherman. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Gunter Wilson of the home; one son, James E. "Jim" Wilson of North Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Mrs. John (Lisa W.) Jordan Coleman of Florence and Ramble Lynn Wilson also of Florence; two grandchildren, James Cyril "Jay" Jordan III of Darlington and Leslie Aaron Jordan of Evergreen; a brother, John M. Wilson of Florence; and a faithful friend, Chessie Vivians of Florence.
NATHAN TUNSTALL JR.
DARLINGTON - Services for Nathan Dozier "N.D." Tunstall Jr., 61, of Darlington, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 20, 2000, in Mechanicsville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves Street, Florence, S.C. 29506. Mr. Tunstall died Oct. 17 at his residence after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County, the son of the late Nathan D. and Irene Cowick Tunstall. He was an electrician with Herring Electric. He was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church and was an avid sportsman and hunter. He was predeceased by a brother, Heyward Tunstall, in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie M. Tunstall; a daughter, Nicole Tunstall of the home; one son, Nathan Shawn (Mary Ellen) Tunstall of Darlington; four daughters, Robin (Terry) Christmas of Greenville, Joby (Danny) Bailey, Lisa Powell and Donna (Dan) Sanders, all of Darlington; two brothers, Don (Margaret) Tunstall of Darlington and Howard Tunstall of Columbia; one sister, Kathleen (Fred) Mattox of Darlington and 11 grandchildren.

MCBEE - Graveside services for Charles E. Curtis Sr., 79, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in McBee Cemetery. The Rev. Sterne Bolte will officiate, and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. Mr. Curtis, widower of Doris Harrelson Curtis, died Wednesday, Oct. 18. Born in McBee, he was a son of the late John A. and Winifred Grant Curtis. He was a member of McBee United Methodist Church, owner and operator of Curtis Supply Company for 27 years and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Stacey P. Curtis Jr. of Lancaster, daughter and son-in-law, Karen J. Curtis and Steve Skidgel of Greenville; and a sister, Georgia C. Horton of Florence.

Hugh W. Cannon died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000. He was 76. Memorial services will be held Monday, Oct. 23, at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall. Brown-Pennington-Atkins is in charge.

Memorial services of Thanksgiving and Praise for Hugh Witherspoon Cannon, Sr., 76, were held at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Alan Arnold officiating, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Darlington County Law Library, First Presbyterian Church, 122 W. Home Ave., Hartsville, S.C. 29550, or a charity of one's choice. Mr. Cannon, widower of Carolyn Daugherty Cannon, died Thursday, Oct. 19. Born in Hartsville, he was a son of the late James Ervin and Rosa McFall Cannon, Sr. He was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and superintendent of the Sunday School. His attendance at the Citadel Military College in 1941-42 was interrupted by call to duty in the army. After World War II, he returned to the Citadel and graduated just in time to be recalled to active duty as a Lt. Colonel during the Korean Conflict. He practiced law in Hartsville for 42 years. During his legal career, he was active in both the local and state Bar Associations, having served as vice-president for the Fourth Circuit with the state bar and president of the Darlington County Bar Association. He was active in the Federalist Society, American Trial Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association. Surviving are his two sons, Hugh W. 'Bobby' Cannon Jr., of St. Petersburg, Fla., Andrew Cannon of Hartsville; three daughters, Carole Cannarella and Amelia Cannon, both of Hartsville, and Rosie Haney of Fairfax, Va.; a brother, James W. Cannon of Hartsville; two sisters, Tina C. Jeffrey of Williamsburg, Va. and Margaret C. McArthur of Fayetteville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Dr. J. E. Cannon Jr. A

in Kershaw County, a son of Jack Thomas Garrison and Betty Jean Huggins Garrison. He was employed with Merit Trucking Co. in Pageland and was a member of Beauford Baptist Church. Surviving are his mother, Betty Jean Huggins Garrison of McBee; father and step-mother, Jack and Diane McCaskill Garrison of Bishopville; one brother, Timothy Jack Garrison of McBee; a sister, Lorie Ann Sutton of Anderson; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James Huggins of McBee and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Garrison of Camden.
