SOCIETY HILL - Services for Lucille Harrison were held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, in Bethesda Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home. Mrs. Harrison, 82, died Friday in McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born
in Society Hill, a daughter of the late George Thomas and Nellie Wilson Bounds Harrison. She was a graduate of Rosenwald High School. She was a life long faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church, Deaconess Board, Missionary Society, Senior Choir, the What I Can Club and Senior Citizens Club. Surviving are a son, Landon Harrison of Worthington, Ohio; four daughters, Wilhelmenia (Arthur) Bulls of Bryans, Md., Geraldine (Edward) Ray of Ontario, Calif., Bobbie J. Harrison and Daisy L. Harrison, both of Society Hill; a sister, Nellie B. Russell of Worthington, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, a special nephew, Sam (Bernice) Harrison of Society Hill; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Surviving other than her father of Society Hill are a brother, De Andre Jackson of Darlington; her maternal grandparents, Allen and Donnie Gilbert of Hartsville; her paternal grandparents, Julius and Mary Alice Jackson of Society Hill; aunts; uncles; and other close relatives and friends.

Keith and Debra (Stanley) Reddick, both of Darlington and Bobbie Ann Gilbert of Philadelphia, Pa.; her step-mother, Donnie T. Services for Betty Lou Carroway, 53, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, in Harold L. & Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Sandy Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lamar directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carroway died Sunday at her home after an illness. She was born
July 31, 1947, in Darlington County, a daughter of Moses and Irene Damon Huggins. She was educated in Lee County public schools.
Surviving are five daughters, Jeaneatha Dixon, Tammie Lisa Dixon, Margie Carroway and Ruth Carroway, all of Hartsville and Valerie Carroway of Lamar; seven sons, Nathaniel Huggins, Arthur Carroway, Atzenthain Carroway, Ruben Carroway, Matthew Carroway, Barnaby Carroway and David Carroway, all of Hartsville; eight sisters, Mary Alice Williams, Dora Lee Williams, Francis Lee McKenzie, Edna White, Queen Dials, Mary Lee Covington, Mattie Covington and Rilla McClain; six brothers, Quannie Huggins, Harry Huggins, Moses (Sono) Huggins, Willie B. Huggins, Sherman Huggins and Roosevelt Huggins; 29 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services for Ordiner Lyde Robinson, 86, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 22, 2000, in Centerville A.M.E. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Eddie Lyde Sr. and Ella Allen Lyde. She received her formal education at Butler High School and was employed by JH Cohen Tailoring Co. from which she retired after many years of service.
Mrs. Robinson was baptized at Kay Branch Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Centerville A.M.E. Church. She attended several churches in Philadelphia, Pa.
Surviving are a son, Willie Robinson; a brother, Eddie Lyde Jr., both of Philadelphia, Pa.; nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

Services for Ethel Lee Jackson, 66, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 22, 2000, in Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson died Saturday, Nov. 18, in Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born
Aug. 10, 1934, in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Lunn and Nellie Williams Jackson. She received her education in Darlington County public school and was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are a son, Charles E. (Minnie) Jackson of Hartsville; six sisters, Dorothy Mae Jackson, Betty Jean Jackson, Ernestine Jefferson, Janie Mae Jackson and Beatrice Primus, all of Hartsville, and Ethel Jackson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers, George Edward Jackson of Hartsville and Nathaniel Jackson of Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren, Charles E. Jackson Jr. and LaTisha (William) Jackson, both of Hartsville; four great-grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew that she raised, Tisha and Nicole Jackson and Terry Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews; two sisters-in-law and other close relatives.

Mrs. Abate died Saturday morning, Nov. 18, in a Florence hospital after an illness. She was born
in Joliet, Ill., the daughter of the late Harold and Jewel Drelling Fitzsimmons. She was owner and operator of Jewel's Deluxe Restaurant and Catering. Mrs. Abate was a member of the First Church of God and sang in the choir.
Surviving are her husband, Joe Abate of Darlington; four sons, Steven Gehrke of Florence, Doug (Lynn) Gehrke of Darlington, Joe (Charlene) Abate of Tenn., and Don (Lora) Abate of Virginia; and eight grandchildren.

Services for Elizabeth 'Lib' Bryant Flowers, 81, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bob Cline officiating. Mrs. Flowers, widow of Peter Flowers, died Friday, Nov. 17. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Annie Ridgway Bryant. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Golden Fellowship. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #91 and was retired from Coker Pedigreed Seed Co. with 35 years of services.
Surviving are her brother, Thomas Bryant of Mexico, sisters-in-laws, Juanita Amerson and Eleanor Smith, both of Hartsville; nieces and nephews.
NELL CAROLYN ADAIR
ATLANTA, Ga. - Nell Carolyn (Rolader) Adair, 74, died peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, in Atlanta, Ga., ending a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer.

A native Atlanta, Nell followed her husband to Hartsville in 1945 where they lived for 47 years before returning to Cobb County, Ga. Proprietor of two Murrell's Inlet businesses, Mama Nell's Gingerbread House and Little Bit Of Country, she spent the 1980s greeting the public with her unique wisdom and wit.
Mrs. Adair is survived by her husband of 55 years, John J. Adair Sr., of 404 King Springs Village Parkway, Smyrna, Ga. 30082; sister, Marjorie R. Stow of Roswell, Ga.; daughters, Jean Adair Stogner of Clearwater, Fla., and Jody Adair Usher of Decatur, Ga.; sons, John J. (Bud) Adair, Jr. of Germany and Ben L. Adair of Powder Springs, Ga.; 18 grand and great-grandchildren and many dear friends in South Carolina and beyond.
