CURTIS W. STONE
DARLINGTON – Graveside services for Curtis Windol Stone, 94, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Stone was born
in Baxley, Ga., the son of the late G. W. and Margie Sellers Stone. He was married
to the late Ada Hogge Stone. Mr. Stone was a retired welder for Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church, a Mason, and an avid gardener.
Surviving are his son, Windol (Robbie) Stone of Darlington; two grandchildren, Mrs. Lawrence (Ginger Stone) Holland of Hartsville and Mrs. Kevin (Martha Stone) Sturgeon of Florence; four great-grandchildren, Grayson, Wells, and Reid Sturgeon, and Lewis Holland; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home of Windol Stone, 1604 Cashua Ferry Rd., Darlington.
MELLISSA H. MIXON
Services for Mellissa (Missy) Hall Mixon, 32, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Bible Truth Holiness Church with the Revs. Tyrone Mitchum, Hazel Mixon and Ricky Bledsoe officiating. Burial was in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville Chapel.
Mrs. Mixon died Friday, Dec. 29. She was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of Carolyn Welch Hall Smith and the late Carroll Hall. She was a member of the Bible Truth Holiness Church.
Surviving are her husband, Billy Mixon of Hartsville; her mother of Bishopville; one daughter, Miss Jessica Mixon; one son, Jay Mixon, both of Hartsville; one sister, Kim Cooper of Camden; one half-sister, Britany Hall of Bishopville and one half brother, Brandon Carroll Hall Jr. of Bishopville.
MARY W. BRITT
Services for Mary Wade Britt, 90, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Morgan officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in McFarland, N.C.
Miss Britt was born
in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late Thomas Hampton and Eola Mae Downs Britt. She was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Florence.
Surviving are seven nieces, Virginia Mae Porter of Norwood, N.C., Mollie Ennis of Salisbury, Md., Jimmie Barnett, Saginaw, Mich., Francis Canter of Harrisburg, N.C., Cathey Grissom of Concord, N.C., Myrtle Bedenbaugh of North Augusta, S.C., and Edith Watkins of Hartsville.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest, James and Joseph H. Britt.
OLLIE MAE WINBURN
KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Services for Ollie Mae Anderson Winburn, 70, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Green Hill Church of God of Prophecy of Hartsville with the Revs. Jerry Gainey and Marvin Griggs officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery directed by Whitley's Funeral Home of Kannapolis, N.C.
Mrs. Winburn was born
on June 30, 1930, in Chesterfield County. She was the daughter of the late Claude Anderson and Pauline Hall Gainey. She had previously worked at Linn-Corriber Mills. She was preceded in death by a son, Ollie Lee Winburn, and her step-father, James M. Gainey.
Survivors include a son, Lonnie Claude Winburn of Kannapolis; a step-son, Jimmy P. Winburn of Kannapolis, N.C.; a brother, Jimmy Gainey of Kannapolis; a grandchild, Tammy W. Kardos of Kannapolis; a great-grandchild, Stephen Kardos of Kannapolis; and brother-in-law, R. B. Hall, also of Kannapolis.
TOM J. McINTOSH
ASHEBORO, N.C. – Funeral services for Thomas James McIntosh Jr., 76, of Asheboro, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at First United Methodist Church, where was a member, with Dr. Boyd Stokes officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery directed by Pugh Funeral Home of Asheboro.
Mr. McIntosh died Thursday, Dec.14, 2000, at Randolph Hospital.
He was a native of Hartsville, a retired Asheboro city manager and had previously been a city manager of Ahoskie and assistant city manager and interim city manager of Hickory. He was a World War II U.S Army veteran, past president of the Golden Kiwanis Club, a former Rotarian, a member of the American Legion and a former Little League football coach. He was founding member of the Randolph County Senior Adult Center, chairman of the Piedmont Triad Council on Aging with the Piedmont Triad Council of Governments and on the board of directors of CASPN Homes. He was a member of the board of directors for the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce and was a Sunday School teacher at his church.
Surviving are wife, Marion Roberts McIntosh; three sons, Jim McIntosh of Ramseur, N.C., Julian McIntosh and Bob McIntosh both of Asheboro; daughter, Mary M. Dunn of Asheboro; sister, Olive M. Toy of Atlanta, Ga.; brother; Robert Murray McIntosh of Columbia; and three granddaughters.

PAUL A. WATERS
Services for Paul W. Waters, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Westview Memorial Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mr. Waters was born
in Darlington County, a son of the late Ira and Annie Cribb Waters. He was a member of the Living Hope Sunday School Class of Emmanuel Baptist Church, was retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 45 years of service, a member of the Old Timers Club and was a veteran of WWII.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Clara Johnson Waters of Hartsville; three daughters, Mrs. Donna Tolson and Mrs. Betty Byrd both of Hartsville, and Mrs. Vickie Dampier of Columbia; a son, Johnnie Jenkins of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, Marvin Walters of Society Hill; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Freeman of Johnsonville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Waters, and a grandchild, Allison Tolson.
GEORGE McCLAIN
George McClain died on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, in a local nursing home after an illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home.
JAMES I. AMERSON
LAMAR – Services for James I. Amerson, 78, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 at Lamar United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Newman Swamp Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home, Lamar Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Amerson died Thursday, Jan. 4, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County, the son of the late Payton and Annie Windham Amerson. He was retired from the Maintenance Department at DuPont and spent his later years as an income tax preparer. He was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and Civitans.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Windham Amerson of the home; a daughter, Iris Howell of Lamar; a son, Jamie Amerson of Lamar; four grandchildren, Brad Kempson, April Watford, Jamie Howell and Dusty Howell, all of Lamar, and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Amerson was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Amerson.
TED MORRIS
DARLINGTON – Services for Ted Morris, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 5, 2001, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church's Parish Hall.
Mr. Morris died Thursday morning, Jan. 4, at his residence after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County, the son of the late Alonzo T. Morris Jr. and Sarah Smith Morris. He retired from the U.S. Navy where he served from 1946-1976 and was also retired from Thomas-Howard Wholesale.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Cooper Morris of the home; one daughter, Terri Morris of Darlington; and two sisters, Hazel Gainey and Betty Lou Blackmon, both of Darlington. EUGENE TROTTY
Services for Eugene Trotty, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, in White Chapel Gardens Memorial Park, Feasterville, Pa., with services entrusted to Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. Trotty died Friday, Dec. 29, at his home after an illness. He was born
in Aiken County, a son of the late Henry and Mattie Trotty.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Trotty; a daughter, Janice Trotty, both of Hartsville; and a brother, Albert (Dot) Trotty of Philadelphia, Pa.
