SAM McLENDON
DARLINGTON - Services for Sam McLendon, 76, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 3, 2000, in Mont Clare Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Mechanicsville Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, S.C., 29501. Mr. McLendon died Tuesday, Oct. 31, at his residence after an illness. He was born
in Virginia, and was the son of the late Sam and Nell E. Hatchell McLendon. He was a member of Mont Clare Baptist Church. Mr. McLendon served his country in WWII. He was a farmer and worked for a number of years with Oaklyn Plantation. Mr. McLendon was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Bradshaw. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Selma) McLendon of Cheraw, and Tony (Denise) McLendon of Darlington; one daughter, Cathy (Lewis) Adams of Cheraw; one brother, Tommy Bradshaw of Darlington; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
DALLAS FENWICK
Services for Dallas Fenwick will be held today at 4 p.m. in the Harold L. & Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Maryland National Cemetery in Laurel Md. Young & Young Funeral Home of Hartsville is in charge. Mrs. Fenwick, 60, died Monday in Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born
in Crew, Va., a daughter of the late John and Emma Hunnicutt. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Laurel, Md., and received her education in Crew, Va., public schools. Surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline Fenwick of Hartsville; three sons, Robert (Jacqueline) Fenwick of Clinton, Md., Michael Fenwick of Glenarden, Md., and Ronald (Gaynelle) Fenwick of Capital Hight, Md.; two step sisters, Mary Wyche of Emporia, Va., and Jean Cable of Richmond, Va.; and 10 grandchildren.
MARTHA MALMGREN
Graveside services for Martha Estelle Carnes Malmgren, formerly of Florence, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, at Magnolia Cemetery in Hartsville. Thomas McAfree Funeral Home of Greenville is in charge. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Mrs. Malmgren died Sunday, Oct. 29. Born in Hartsville, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Edward and Mary Elizabeth Howle Carnes and the widow of Edward P. Malmgren. She was a graduate of Queen’s College and formerly owned a women’s clothing store. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hartsville. Surviving are a sister, Mary Elizabeth Carnes Fant of Greenville.

Mrs. Luevert Chambers of Hartsville died on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, in the DeKalb Medical Hospital of Decatur, Ga. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Chambers was born
in Bishopville, a daughter of the late Ben Mertz Johnson and Jessie Hendrix. She was the widow of the late William A. Chambers.
Surviving are three daughters, Louevert (Aries) Napper of Conyers, Ga., Wilhemenia (Willie) Virgion of Hartsville and Lucile (Ellis) Hill of Queens, N.Y.; three sons, Alan Cambiera of Atlanta, Ga., Joseph (Ruth) Chambers of New York, N.Y., and Louis Chambers; other relatives, Margaret Chamber of Philadelphia, Wayne Johnson of Buffalo, N.Y.; and 17 grandchildren.

Services for Rosa Lee Heatley were held at 1 p.m. Saturday. April 22, 2000, at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. J. D. Blue, officiating. Burial was in Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Hines Funeral Home. Mrs. Heatley died Tuesday, April 18 after an illness. She was born
in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Weston and Nancy Patterson. She was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County. She was married
early in life to the late Joseph Heatley and this union was blessed with two children, one of which (Ada) preceded her in death. After moving to Hartsville, she continued her faithful discipleship in worship at Jerusalem Baptist Church and later became a founding member of Second Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Evennia Heatley of Hartsville; one brother, Julius Patterson of Ft. Motte; three granddaughters, Brenda McPherson of Maple Heights, Ohio, Chanequa (Roderick) Watson of Winston Salem, N.C. and Lenora McPhearson of Hartsville; one grandson, Julius McPherson of Hartsville; five great-grandchildren and one son-in-law, Julius McPherson of Wallace.

JOHN W. WILSON
Funeral services for John W. Wilson, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2000, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. J. L. Dutton will officiate with burial in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Praise Temple Church or the First Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson died Wednesday, April 19, 2000. Born in Gorman, Texas, he was a son of the late James and Charlotte Kizzar Wilson. He was a member of Praise Temple Church and was retired as a civil service employee. He served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Laverne Poynor Wilson of Hartsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Carra and Wayne Honeycutt of Hartsville; and grandchildren, Robert Honeycutt, Beverly Honeycutt, Mary Ann Honeycutt, Christopher Honeycutt and Amy Honeycutt.
PENELOPE D. NETTLES
STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Memorial services for Penelope (Penny) D. Nettles, 64, of Stone Mountain, Ga., will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Georgia, with Hines Funeral Home in charge of local announcements.
Mrs. Nettles died Saturday, Nov. 4. A native of Hartsville, Mrs. Nettles was a daughter of the late James and Lenora Williams. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. As a retired school teacher, she was loved by all her babies (students) as she called them. She was a graduate of Butler High School and Benedict College in Columbia.
Survivors are her husband, Albert (Al) Nettles; one brother, James (Edith) Williams of Silver Springs, Md.; two sisters, Rosa L. (John) Nelums of Columbia and Luever (Thomas) of Union; brother-in-law, Henry L. (Julia) Nettles of Buffalo, N.Y.
