PAUL WILSON
DARLINGTON – Graveside services for Paul Wayne Wilson, 71, will be held at 4 p.m. today, May 4, 2001, in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilson died Wednesday evening, May 2, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born
in Effingham, Florence County, son of the late Charles Montgomery and Essie B. Waddell Wilson Sr. He served his country in the United States Air Force and had retired 34 years ago as executive director of the Darlington County United States Department of Agriculture and the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Services. He was past president of the State Association of ASCS County Employees (SCASCOE), a member of Darlington Kiwanis Club and Darlington Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon and treasurer. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice W. and William Hiner of Atlanta, Ga., Diane W. and Dwayne Hancock of Darlington; grandsons, Jason and Travis Hancock of Darlington; six sisters, Merna W. Berry of Jacksonville, Fla., June W. Wilford of Columbia, Edith W. (Ernest) Allen of Florence, Mildred W. Clark, Betty W. (Charles) Dennis, Grace W. Mims, all of Florence and a special friend, Barbara Horne of Darlington. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilson was predeceased by brothers Brutus, Ray, Charles Jr., and Jack Wilson and wives, Virginia Hutchinson Wilson and Phyllis Harrelson Wilson.

DOROTHY M. MELTON
DARLINGTON – Services for Dorothy Miller "Mama Dot" Melton, 83, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Central Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Darlington Memory Gardens directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Melton died Wednesday, May 2, in a Florence hospital after an illness. She was born
in North Carolina, the daughter of the late Eugene and Marie Miller. She was the wife of the late Troy Melton. She was a retired employee of Dixie Cup and most recently served as the "Tea Lady" at Jewel's Deluxe Restaurant. Mrs. Melton was a member of Central Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School Class for 30 years. Mrs. Melton also enjoyed watching WWF Wrestling where her favorite wrestler was "The Rock."
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Troy "Chappie" and Sharon Melton of Darlington; a daughter, Dottie Jean Lewis of Cheraw; five grandchildren, Dodie and Billy Bright, Jeff Melton, Chris Melton, all of Darlington, Richard and Donna Lewis of Cheraw and Zoe Lynn Lewis of Kingstree; and four greatgrandchildren, Amber Lewis, Kacey Lewis, Ashley Bright and Ty Bright.
The family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

ADLINE BROWN
Services for Adline Brown, 93, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2001, at New Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Daniels officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown died Monday, May 7, in Oakhaven Nursing Home after an illness. She was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Willie and Nazaree Jackson Peterson. She received her education in Darlington County public schools and was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Agalee Peterson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a grandson, a granddaughter; great-granddaughter and a great-grandson.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mable Coe, 919 J. Street, Hartsville.
ADA B. WINGATE
Mrs. Ada B. Wingate died May 9, 2001, in Carolina Hospital System in Florence. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Mae Francis Johnson of South Park, Apts. M-1.
ADA BELL WINGATE
Services for Ada Bell Wingate were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2001, at The Church of Christ in the Cypress Community with burial in St. John United Methodist Church Cemetery with professional services entrusted to Hines Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wingate died Wednes-day, May 9, in a Florence hospital after an extended illness. She was born
in Lee County, a daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Dixon Johnson. She was married
to William Earl Wingate in 1957. Mrs. Wingate was employed with Beckham's Seafood of Florence. Prior to this, she worked for many years in the home of Billy Melton.
Survivors include, in addition to her husband, one brother, James (Mae Francis) Johnson of Hartsville; three sisters, Rosa Lee Jeffery of Lydia, Ethel Johnson and Marie Brunson, both of Hartsville.
EMMA G. BURNETT
BRYSON CITY, N.C. – Services for Emma Green Burnett, 85, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church of which she was a member. The Revs. Mike Wise and Tony Oliver officiated with burial in the Brendle Hill Cemetery directed by Crisp Funeral Home of Bryson City, N.C. Brown-Pennington-Atkins was in charge of local announcements.
Mrs. Burnett, of the Alarka Community, died Tuesday, May 8, in a Swain County Health Care Facility. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late W. P. and Sarah Bowers Green and wife of the late Clint Burnett who died in 1989. She was a retired employee of Swain County Hospital.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Brown of Hartsville and Janette Hedden of Huntsville, Ala.; four sons, Dennis Burnett of Lexington, N.C., Carl Burnett of Brevard, Doug Burnett of Taylorsville, Ga., and Roger Burnett of Bryson City; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services for Gloria Ann McCoy Patterson will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 11, 2001, in New Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of her brother, Larry Johnson, 618 Dovesville Hwy.
Mrs. Patterson died Monday, May 7, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of the late John (MC) and Lena McCoy. She was educated in the Darlington County public schools, graduating from Hartsville High School class of 1978. She was employed as game manager with the Bingo Hall and was a member of the New Hopewell Baptist Church of Darlington.
Surviving are her husband, Bobby Patterson of Bennet-tsville; a daughter, Kayla McCoy of Raleigh, N.C.; four sisters, Carolyn (Billy) Forte of Hartsville, Supreme J. O'Neal and Doris McCoy, both of Patterson, N.J., and Deloris (Karl) Barcus of Darlington; two brothers, Larry (Queen Ester) Johnson of Darlington and Larry J. (Peggy) McCoy of Darlington; step-daughter, Alexis Patterson of Cheraw; two godchildren, Rollins Council of Hartsville and Regina Kennedy of Darlington.

DARLINGTON – Services for Ora Taylor Weaver, 90, were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. Interment followed in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor, wife of Samuel Robert Weaver, died Wednesday, May 9, in a Hartsville hospital after an illness. She was born
in Darlington County, the daughter of the late Elwood and Eva Courtney Taylor. She was a former employee of Darlington Manufacturing Co. and attended Epworth United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Jesna W. Odom of Darlington; a granddaughter, Mrs. Tony (Faye) Howle of Darlington; a grandson, Bobby (Linda) Odom of Timmonsville; five great- grandchildren; Robbie Odom, Clay Odom, Ricky Howle, Rhett Howle, and Garrett Odom; two great-great-grandchildren; Justin Odom and Kaitlyn Odom; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services for Bonnie Tedder Polson, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 11, 2001, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Bob Cline will officiate with a private burial in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening after the services at the funeral home. Mrs. Polson, widow of John Ervin Polson, Jr., died Tuesday, May 8. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Maybelle Andrews Tedder. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Hartsville Chapter No. 91 O.E.S.
Surviving are her daughter, Judith P. King of Florence; son, John E. Polson III of Hartsville; two brothers, Foster Tedder of Hartsville, Stanford Tedder of Oates; two sisters, Gladys Beckham of Darlington and Odelia Moulton of Littleton, Colo.; grandsons, George Todd King of Surfside Beach, Michael Capers King of Eugene, Ore.; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Joel E. Polson.
PAUL FORSTER, JR.
Services for Paul Karl Forster, Jr., 63, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mitch Houston will officiate and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is in charge. Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church Building Fund, 145 E. College Ave., Hartsville, S.C. 29550.
Mr. Forster died Thursday, May 10. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a son of the late Paul Karl and Jeanette Forster Sr. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was retired fro Brown's RV. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Mason. He was a former professional baseball player and a softball coach for the Dixie Youth Girls.
Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff Forster of San Jose, Calif., Steven Forster of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jason and Amber Forster of Hartsville; sister, Hilda Serbin of San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren, Alexandia Forster and Joshua Forster.

DARLINGTON – Memorial services for Connie Stone Horne, 59, will be at 3 p.m. today, May 11, 2001 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Horne died Wednesday, May 9, in a Florence hospital after an illness. She was born
in Florence County, the daughter of the late Roscoe and Thelma Cameron Stone.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy Horne, Cindy Horne, and Teresa H. Anderson, all of Darlington; two sons, Bruce Horne of Charlotte, N.C., and Steven "BoBo" Horne of North Dakota; three sisters, Katherine Bagwell of Darling-ton and Faye Vaughan of Georgia; five brothers, Donald Stone of Florence, Johnny McGee, Buck McGee, Tom McGee and Jimmy McGee, all of Darlington; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
