PATRICIA M. CALABRESE
NORTH AUGUSTA – Services for Patricia M. Calabrese were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2001, at Fairview Presbyterian Church with Dr.William R. Johnston, officiating. Entombment was in Pineview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Rowland Funeral Home of North Augusta, S.C. Brown-Pennington-Atkins was in charge of local announcements.
Mrs. Calabrese entered into rest at her home on May 17. She was the wife of Thomas Calabrese. She was a native of Hackensack, N.J., and was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Stephanie C. Roberts of Monroe, Ga.; a son, Jeffrey T. Calabrese of Hartsville; two brothers, Edward Murphy of Phoenix, Ariz., and James Murphy of Hackensack, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Fairview Presbyterian Church, 1101 Carolina Ave., North Augusta, S.C. 29841 or Hitchcock Hospice, 690 Medical Park Dr., Aiken, S.C. 29801.

EDITH GRIGGS
Services for Edith Griggs Griggs, 86, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church . The Rev. Bud Boatwright will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 2236 Bethlehem Rd., Hartsville, S.C. 29550.
Mrs. Griggs, widow of Jesse Griggs, died Sunday, May 20. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Wiley S. and Nettie Blackwell Griggs. She was previously owner and operator of Griggs Grocery and was also engaged in farming.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, J. Robert and Betty Sue Griggs, Richard and Miriam Griggs, all of Hartsville; daughter, Josephine Tolson of Hartsville; brother, James Macie Griggs of Columbia; sisters, Aileen McLaughlin and Virginia Elise Johnson, both of Hartsville; grandchildren, Bobby Griggs, Tim Griggs, Faye Johnson, Rick Griggs, Todd Griggs, Teresa Hendrix, Jimmy Tolson, Debbie Powell, Pamela Byrd, Angie Boseman; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Griggs.

CASEY JONES
DARLINGTON – Graveside services for Casey Jones, 82, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2001, in Florence National Guard Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones died Saturday morning, May 19, in a Columbia hospital after an illness. He was a retired foreman with Darlington Veneer. He was born in Society Hill, the son of the late Ike and Mattie E. Cross Jones. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle. Mr. Jones was a member and a deacon at Southside Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Josie "Jo" Lanford Jones of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kathy Jones of Florence; two grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Randy Jones of Florence and Saundra and Brad Scurry of Darlington; a great-grandchild, Dustin Scurry; three brothers, Ike "Buddy" Jones of Bishopville, Silas "Dickie" Jones of Lake City, Fla., and Guy Jones of Darlington; and a sister, Ada Crowley of Orangeville, Utah.

DANNY RAY ROLLINGS
JEFFERSON – Services for Danny Ray Rollings, 45, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2001, at Jefferson Church of God with burial in Jefferson Cemetery directed by Sutton Funeral Home of Pageland.
Mr. Rollings died Saturday, May 19, at Union Regional Medical Center. He was born in Chesterfield County and was the son of Oree Dixon Rollings and the late Bruce Rollings. He was an electrician until March 2, 1986, when he received incapacitating injuries from an auto accident. He was a member of Jefferson Church of God.
Survivors include his mother, Oree D. Rollings; a son, Jason D. Rollings, both of Jefferson; four brothers, Jimmy Rollings of Jefferson, Nathan Rollings of Pageland, Larry Rollings of Hartsville and Robbie Rollings of Bethune; and two sisters, Janice Grant of Jefferson and Patsy Gainey of Hartsville.

JOHNNY SMITH JR.
Services for Johnny Smith Jr., 55, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Hartsville, will be today, May 23, 2001, at New Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Daniels and Pastor Janie Wilds officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home of Hartsville.
Mr. Smith died Saturday, May 19, after an illness in Capital Medical Center in Richmond, Va. He was born in Darlington County, a son of the late Johnny and Sallie Fields Smith Sr. He was a graduate of Rosenwald High School and was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Coleman Smith of Society Hill; three sisters, Nancy Venson and Sallie Allen, both of Hartsville, and Brenda Gattison of Darlington; three brothers, Frank Smith of Hartsville, Rickey Smith of Richmond, Va., and James Smith of McBee; four step-daughters, Pamela Allen, Michelle Allen, LaTisha Allen and Tashia Allen, all of Richmond, Va.; nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of his wife, Mary Coleman Smith, 1649 Sherrill's Mills Road, Society Hill.

RUTH MASSEY
Services for Ruth Smith Massey, 90, were held at 3 p.m Sunday, May 20, 2001, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Price and the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Hood officiated with burial in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves, Florence, S.C. 29506.
Mrs. Massey, widow of William Lee Massey, died Friday, May 18, 2001. Born in Clinton, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Troy Clyde and Ethel Morris Smith. She was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Hiram L. and Evelyn Massey of Hartsville, the Rev. Kevin and Nickie Massey of Darlington; daughters and son-in-law, Joan and Frankie Odom of Hartsville, Dianne Massey of Rock Hill; brother, Troy C. Smith Jr. of Easley; grandchildren, Kimberly Odom, Leigh Summers, Craig King, Darrell Massey, Ronald Massey, Jeffery Massey; and eight great-grandchildren.

LELIA DUNDY
DARLINGTON – Lelia Dundy died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, in Wilson Medical Center after an illness. Arrangements will be announced by Young & Young Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1918 Sherill Mill Rd., Darlington.

LELIA JACKSON DUNDY
SOCIETY HILL – Services for Lelia Jackson Dundy, 76, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2001, in New Hopewell Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dundy died Wednesday, May 16, in Wilson Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Lydia Lucas Jackson. She received her education in Darlington County public schools and was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Lelia (Monroe) McFarland, Betty (Levern) James, both of Society Hill, Lillie (Eddie) Gattison and Mabel (Tyrone) Little, both of Darlington; a step-daughter, Alice (Billie) Mitchell of Hartsville; five sons, Jimmy (Verdie) Jackson Dundy of Winston Salem, N.C., Early (Janie) Dundy, Lessie (Naomi) Dundy, Levern Dundy and Elijah (Gina) Dundy, all of Society Hill; a sister-in-law, Mary Bonapart of Columbia; 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

DREXELL TURNER SR.
PAMPLICO – Services for Drexell Turner Sr., 80, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2001, in Bethlehem United Methodist Chruch with burial in the Gaskins Cemetery, Hannah, directed by Brockington Funeral Home of Lake City.
Mr. Turner died Tuesday, May 22, at his residence after an illness. He was born in Pamplico, a son of the late A. H. and Dovie Gaskins Turner. He was a graduate of Hannah High School and retired from Wellman Industries of Johnsonville. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, the Young at Heart and the Methodist Men. He was an Army veteran of World War II and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was first married to the late Dora Wise Turner.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nolia Gaskins Turner of Pamplico; three sons, Drexell (Jean) Turner, Jr. of Florence, Joe O. (Karen) Turner of Pawleys Island and Danny K. (Belvey) Turner of Pamplico; three daughters, Carol (Joe) Poston of Florence, Elleveen (Tommy) Poston of Johnsonville and Jenny Mae Turner of Hartsville; one sister, Hilda Brooks of Florence; one brother, Vaska Turner of Johnsonville; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 181 East Evans St., Florence, S.C. 29506; or the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. North, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29577.

SONNY GREENE JR.
FLORENCE – Services for Francis "Sonny" A. Greene Jr., 65, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2001 in St. Paul United Methodist Church with interment following in Mt. Hope Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home of Darlington.
Mr. Greene died Tuesday, May 22, in a Charleston hospital. He was born in Birmingham, Ala., a son of the late Francis A. and Martha Rhodus Stack Greene, Sr. He attended Boyles Military School, Georgia Military School, graduated from Timmonsville High School and attended the University of South Carolina. HE was founder of South Carolina Credit Corporation. Mr. Greene was an avid outdoorsman, member of the Timmonsville National Guard and later the Florence Reserves. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Melton Greene of Florence; one son, Dr. Raleigh D. "Drew" Andrews.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul United Methodist Chruch, Post Office Box 5446, Florence, S.C. 29502.

SANDY CASSIDY
Services for Naomi (Sandy) M. Cassidy, 74, were held at 10 a.m. this morning, May 24, 2000, at St. Luke United Methodist Church. The Revs. Ben and Dora Gafford officiated with burial in Magnolia Cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church. Mrs. Cassidy, widow of Brooks L. Cassidy, died Sunday, May 21. Born in Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Malcomb. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Surviving are four sons, James R. Sanders of Benedict, Md., William D. Saunders of Columbia, Mo., Richard Cassidy of Latta and John Cassidy of Darlington; a sister, Joyce Malcomb of Manning; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

HARRIETT MONTGOMERY
Services for Harriett Louise Crouch Montgomery, 71, were at 1 p.m.Tuesday, May 23, 2000, from the chapel of Norton Funeral Home with Rev. John Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Mrs. Montgomery died May 19. She was born in Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late Patrick and Moble Dodd Crouch. She was a retired nursing assistant. Surviving are two daughters, Frances Simard of Woburn, Mass., and Donna Montgomery Adams of Fayettevile, N.C.; two sons, Monty L. Montgomery of Arlington, Va., and Dan Montgomery of Hartsville; one sister, Mary Carbin of Butler, Pa.; three brothers, Cliff, Denny and David (Butch) Crouch, of Butler, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
