RAMAN BLASINGAME
Services for Ramon R. Blasingame, 75, will be held at 4 p.m. today, April 26, 2000, at West Hartsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Sullivan will officiate with burial in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to West Hartsville Baptist Church. Mr. Blasingame died Monday, April 24. Born in Augusta, Ga., he was the son of the late Grover and Estelle Arquer Blasingame. He was a member of West Hartsville Baptist Church and was a former deacon and head of the ushers. He was retired from Sonoco Products Company with 40 years of service, was a member of the Old Timers Club, served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a member of Hartsville Masonic Lodge #173. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Brown Blasingame of Hartsville; daughter Angie (Rusty) Connelly of Hartsville; two brothers, Harold Blasingame of Martinburg, W.Va., Truman Blasingame of Toccoa, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Chase Connelly and Davis Connelly.
MAXINE C. SELF
Services for Maxine C. Self, 58, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Calvary Tabernacle. The Rev. Jimmy Baker officiated with burial in Magnolia Cemetery, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Mrs. Self died Saturday, April 22. Born in West Virigina, she was a daughter of the late Tolly and Stollie Gunnoe Cozart. Surviving are her husband, W. David Self of Hartsville; sons, Luke B. Thompson of Camden, Stacy L. Thompson of Akron, Ohio; step-sons, Timmy Self and Leroy Self, both of Hartsville; step-daughter, Linda S. McCaskell of Camden; brothers, Robert Cozart of Seaside, Ore.; sisters, Qunnie Bailey of West Virginia, Pauline Russo of New York, Corene Stinell of New Jersey, Arline Durham of Virginia; and 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Clint Self; brothers, James Cozart, Clyde Cozart and Clifford Cozart; and sisters, Martha Trump and Jerry Nicely.

Graveside services for Marilyn Christine Windham Huggins, 61, of Darlington, were held at 5 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, in Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Mrs. Huggins was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Clarence B. and Sue Knotts Windham. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and avid gardener. She attended Faith Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Coley Huggins of Darlington, three daughters, Mrs. Arty James (Renee) Harrell of Ontario, Canada, Mrs. William (Christy) Tuck of Columbia and Mrs. Jeffrey (Alison) Brooks of Florence; two grandchildren, Tyler and Cole Harrell; two sisters, Ms. Rudell Webb and Mrs. Maddie Lee Hodges, both of Darlington; and one brother, Franklin "Bud" Windham of Lamar. Wilbert White, pastor, officiated with burial in the church Cemetery, directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home. Mr. Lighty died Saturday, April 15, in a Florence hospital after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County, a son of the late Willie and Laura Wallace Lighty. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rosa Lighty of the home; three sons, two daughters and a sister; a host of grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two brothers.
LAURA A. BOAN
Services for Laura Alice Boan, 86, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2000, in the chapel of Norton Funeral Home in Bishopville, with the Rev. Randy Wilson and the Rev. Hazel Mixon, officiating. Burial was in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery near Hartsville. Mrs. Boan died Thursday, April 20. She was born
in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late Barney and Mary Chapman Rhodes. She was a member of Bishopville Church of God. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Miriam Hinkle of Bishopville and Mrs. Martha Corbett of Alcolu; two sons, Travis Boan of Bishopville and Jimmy Boan of Hartsville; two brothers, J. B. Rhodes and James Rhodes, both of Hartsville; 17 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. Boan.

Nov. 21, 1916, in Chesterfield County, a son of Kistler L. Blackwell and Mamie Johnson Blackwell. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Hattye Watson Blackwell; and by sisters, Maggie Mozingo, Vera Adams, Frances Houck; brother, Loren Blackwell and daughter-in-law, Ardith C. Blackwell. He was a longtime resident of Hartsville before moving to Florence in 1965. He owned and operated automobile and mobile home businesses until 1996. He was a lifetime member of Union United Methodist Church in Chesterfield County. He is survived by two sons, Bobby G. Blackwell and Dr. Billy R. (Eileen) Blackwell, of Florence; grandchildren, Shari Martin, Gary Blackwell and Derek Blackwell, all of Florence and Deborah Blackwell and Meredith Blackwell of Charleston; great-grandchildren, Brandon Toth, Tyler Martin, Erica Martin and Spencer Blackwell of Florence and a sister, Dorothy Garris of Chesapeake, Virginia. Services for Cleveland "Buddy" Smith, of Fort Wayne, Ind., formerly of Darlington, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2000, in St. Mark Holiness Church with burial in Unionville AME Church Cemetery, directed by Hines Funeral Home. Mr. Smith was born
in Philadelphia, Pa., a son of Cleveland Commander Sr. and was reared by his grandmother, Minnie Commander of Lamar. He was educated in the public school and graduated from Lamar High School, call of 1984 and after graduation he joined Job Corp, where he became proficient in the skill of welding. He worked with Pee Dee Tanks of Florence. He recently moved to Fort Wayne, Ind.. He was first a member of Unionville AME Church and in the early 90s he joined St. Mark Holiness Church of Lamar, where he was a member of the choir and Brotherhood organization. Survivors are his wife, Charlotte Ann Smith of Lamar; father, Cleveland Commanders of Philadelphia, Pa.; three step-children, William Young of Orangeburg, Marcel Young of Lamar and Sukara Young of Vielsex, Germany; grandson, Hesikiah Young of Vielsex, Germany; four brothers, Michael T. Commander, Cleveland E. Commander, Donnie Commander, Derrick Commander, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister, Burnie Commander of Bishopville; two uncles, Bennie (Geneva) Commander of Florence, Thomas (Dorothy) Commander of Philadelphia, Pa.; and an aunt, Patricia Brown of Lamar.

Mr. White died Tuesday, April 25. Born in Marion County, he was the son of the late Clarence Pickett and Florrie Belle Richardson White. He was a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church, past Deacon, and member of the T. J. Lewis Sunday School class and member of Hartsville Masonic Lodge #173. He retired as a truck driver from Sonoco after 26 years. Surviving are his wife, Barbara P. White; a son, Bobby C. White, both of Hartsville; a daughter, Shari W. Matthews of Kingstree; four brothers, Franklin M. White Sr. of Manning, Jasper C. White of Ravenel, Baker Earl White of Waycross, Ga., and Benjamin E.
