Memorial services for Elizabeth Howle Huggins, 82, will be held at 11 a.m. today, July 11, 2001, at Gum Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Arrangements were made by Norton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Huggins was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of the late John Newton and Letha Hoffman Howle. She was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, William Paul Huggins and John Roy Huggins, both from Hartsville; one daughter, Ruth Huggins Shelton from Missouri; one sister, Mamie Lee Curley from Longs, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

DARLINGTON – Funeral services for Lillie Edwards Young, 86, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, at Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Young, widow of J. K. "Doc" Young, died Saturday, July 7, 2001. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Mary Anne Ingram Edwards. She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church and also a member of the Home & Garden Club.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Steve and Frances Young of Whitmire, S.C.; daughter, Kay Matkins of Darlington; sisters, Pauline Land and Hattie Johnson, both of Hartsville; grandchildren, Sandra Kay Sturkie, John Matkins, Stephen Young, Stacy Dew, Ben Young, Tony Moore, Daniel Moore and Jay Moore; and 12 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Moore.
MARGARET C. WHITE
Graveside services for Margaret Collins Caddell White, 78, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Magnolia Cemetery. The Rev. Julian Long will officiate directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. White died Monday, July 9, 2001. Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Wesley L. and Pearl Coward Collins. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her sons, Jan Caddell of West Jefferson, N.C., Allen J. Caddell of Hickory, N.C.; sister, Kate Collins of Florence; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Register, widow of Duncan B. Register Jr., died Tuesday, July 10, 2001. Born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Issac and Sarah Lelia Campbell Gainey Sr. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Karen Register of Cheraw, James Lee and Linda Register of Patrick, Calvin and Cindy Register of Lancaster; daughter and son-in-law, Faye R. and Derrell Broom of Hartsville; brothers, Ernest and Frances Gainey, Issac and Pattie Gainey Jr., and John Edward Gainey, all of Patrick; sisters and brother-in-law, Ann L. and Robert Dixon and Margaret Tyner, all of Patrick, Mabel Freeman and Roberta Player, both of Dovesville; and nine grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles Gainey and Furman Lee Gainey.

Mrs. White, widow of Robert B. White, died Thursday, July 12, 2001. Born in Polk County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late William L. and Dolly Reeves Jones. She graduated from Coker College in 1926 and was a member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, Spring Beauty Garden Club, AAUW, and Coker College Alumni Association.
Surviving are her daughters, Patricia White Jolly of Marion, Elizabeth White Bizzell of Hartsville, Martha White Gardner of St. Augustine, Fla.; brother, Sharon Jones of Decatur, Ga; niece, Lillian Seabrook Harley of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Robert L. Jolly Jr., William L. Jolly, Ann Fowler, Norwood C. Bizzell, Robert B.W. Bizzell, William E. Bizzell, Susan Wilcox, Rhett Garrison; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hall died Thursday, July 12, 2001. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Boyd Marion and Cora Kirven Hall. He was a member of Indian Branch United Methodist Church, retired from Sonoco after 45 years of service, and was a member of the Sonoco Old Timers' Club.
Surviving are his wife, Ida Mae Singletary Hall of Darlington; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jennifer Hall of Hartsville; brother and sister-in-law, Woodrow M. and Ordell Hall of Hartsville; sisters and brother-in-law, Frances and Monroe Timmons and Vivian Howle, all of Hartsville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

BETHUNE – Funeral services for Barr Harris Gardner Jr., 82, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Bethel United Methodist Church. Mr. Gardner died Thursday, July 12, 2001. Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Barr Harris and Less Smith Gardner.
Surviving are his wife, Ava Shaw Gardner of Bethune; son and daughter-in-law, Barr (Sonny) Harris and Kathy Gardner III of Chapin, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Little and Merrill Brown of Bethune; brother and sister-in-law, John (Jack) and Dorothy Gardner of Bishopville; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy G. and Herman Denny of Columbia; and three grandchildren.
DEBORAH MIXON
Services for Deborah Mixon will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 5, 2001, in the Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Dials officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mixon died Sunday, Sept. 30, in a Florence hospital after an illness. She was born
in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the Beulah Bush Ellerbe and the late Eugene Ellerbe. She was educated in both the New York and South Carolina public schools. She moved from New York to Hartsville some 32 years ago where she attended Butler High School with the class of 1972. She was married
early in life to Robert Mixon. She was a machine operator with Mafco Industries in McBee and was also employed as a carpenter where she did building construction until her health declined.
Survivors in addition to her mother, Beulah Ellerbe of Brooklyn, N.Y., are three daughters, Melisha (Alex) Breland of Charlotte, N.C., Majury Harris and Mykah Mixon, both of Hartsville; a son, Sylvester Mixon of Hartsville; two sisters, Olivia (Anthony) Gilliam of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Phyllis Harris of Bronx, N.Y.; two brothers, Prentice Harris of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Timothy Sawn Ellerbe of Freeport, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Sherlane Breland; a grandson, Alex Breland Jr., both of Charlotte, N.C.; an aunt, Helen (James) Sanders of New York, N.Y.
CLAUDE GARDNER III
BISHOPVILLE – Services for Claude Miller Gardner III, 29, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Oct., 5, 2001, at Gum Branch Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville Chapel.
Mr. Gardner died Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Lancaster County as a result of an auto accident. He was born
in Darlington County, a son of Claude M. Gardner Jr. and Linda Herring Gardner. He was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church.
Surviving are his father of McBee; his mother of Bishopville; two brothers, Lester and Joe Gardner, both of Bishopville; three sisters, Missy Gardner and Tammy Atkinson, both of Bishopville and Lynn Perdue of Heath Springs; maternal grandmother, Mary Lue Herring of Bishopville, and paternal grandmother, Melissa Gardner of McBee.
FREDRICK J. FRANCUM
CLOVER – Services for Fredrick Jenkins Francum, 62, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Bratton Funeral Home, York, S.C., with the Rev. Danny Sipe and the Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Burial followed in Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Mr. Francum died Friday, Sept. 28. He was born
in Clover, a son of the late Norva M. and Catherine Jenkins Francum. He was a graduate of Clover High School and attended Gardner Webb College. He was a retired security guard with Allied Security. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Bryan Francum of the home; two sons, Johnson Campbell Francum of Newport News, Va., and Boyce Kenneth Francum of Florence; one step-son, Terry Chappell and one step-daughter, Sharon C. McCarter, both of Clover; two sisters, Mary Jo F. Parrish and Elaine F. Myrick, both of Clover; and seven grandchildren.
