BERNICE HARTLEY
DARLINGTON – Services for Bernice Marian Blackmon Hartley, 100, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 in Darlington Presbyterian Church with interment following in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hartley died Sunday, Oct. 28, in a Florence hospital. She was born in Williamsburg County, the daughter of the late Joseph Bealar Blackmon and Dora Oakley Blackmon Bailey. As a child she grew up in the Hart House in Hartsville. She had been a house-member at Thornwell and was formerly active in the American Legion, Women of the Church, and Flower Club. She was the last of a large family and was a member of Darlington Presbyterian Church. Mart Hartley was the widow of Dean S. Hartley Sr.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Dean Stanley and Ruth Boyd Hartley of Monroe, La., Carol Sidney and Beth Binney Hartley of Coral Gable, Fla., Michael O. and Martha Brown Hartley of King, N.C. and daughter-in-law, Frances Dingle Hartley of Raleigh, N.C.
Mrs. Hartley was preceded in death by sons, Phillip and Robert Keith Hartley, also, daughter-in-law, Frances Summers Hartley.

LOIS LIVINGSTON
Funeral services for Lois Folsom Livingston, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 31, 2001, at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Bob Cline will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Coker College.
Mrs. Livingston died Monday, October 29, 2001. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Flora Newsom Folsom. She was a member of First Baptist Church and former Sunday School teacher. She was also a charter member and past president of the Pilot Club of Hartsville and was involved in many of their service and fund raising projects, including swimming classes at Lawton Park. She was also involved in the Hartsville Chamber of Commerce, United Fund, Heart Fund, Bloodmobile, March of Dimes, Cerebral Palsy, Darlington County Historical Commission, and the Hart House.
Surviving are her son, L. Ralph Livingston of Orange Beach, Ala.; daughter Ann L. Joyeusaz of Chevy Chase, Md.; brothers, John Roy Folsom of Columbia, SC, Pete Folsom of Henderson, NC; 12 grandchildren.

PAUL DEARING
PATRICK – Funeral services for Paul Stanley Dearing, 66, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chesterfield County, Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
Mr. Dearing died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001. Born in Illinois, he was a son of Mellissa Ellen Spivey Dearing and the late Rev. J. Oliver Dearing. He was a retired co-owner of Lane Manufacturing Company and was a member of Darlington County Balsa Busters Flying Club.
Surviving are Donna L. Dearing of Patrick; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Donna M. Dearing of Hartsville, Mark S. and Dottie Dearing of Patrick, Marty and Kim Dearing of Hartsville; mother of New Lebanon, Ohio; brother, James Leroy Dearing of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister, Patsy Wilson of Brookville, Ohio, Eloise Miller of New Lebanon, Ohio; grandchildren, Jessica Vaughn, Joey Alexander, Cynthia Alexander, Samantha Dearing, Mark Dearing Jr., Hannah Dearing, Elizabeth Dearing, Megan Dearing; and great-grandchild, Elijah Vaughn.

LOUISE R. STUCKEY
Louise Robinson Stuckey died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, after an illness. Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by Hines Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence, 506 Rice Street, Hartsville.

Services for Louise Robinson Stuckey were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Isaac Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery with professional services entrusted to Hines Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stuckey died Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born in the Pageland community of Chesterfield County, one of five children of Alice Robinson and the late Kindsey Douings. She was educated in the public schools of Chesterfield and Darlington counties. She was raised in a Christian home and was first a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church of Pageland, which was the church of her family. After moving to Hartsville, she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Samuel Stuckey of New York, N.Y.; her mother, Alice Robinson of Hartsville; three sons, Vernon Adams of Hartsville, Joseph (Ivy) Martin of New York, N.Y., and Christopher Stuckey of Bennettsville; two daughters, Bonnie (Dennis) Rogers of Tacoma, Wash., and Sharon Martin of Hartsville; two sisters, Berthenia Rogers and Joyce Robinson, both of Hartsville; two brothers, William Robinson and James (TuWanda) Robinson, both of Hartsville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

LaTERJA WASHINGTON
Services for LaTerja Washington were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward J. Squire, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery with professional services directed by Hines Funeral Home.
LaTerja died Monday, Oct. 29 in Carolinas Hospital System after an illness. She was born in Hartsville, a daughter of David and Delphira Fountain Washington. She was educated in the public schools of Darlington County, graduating from Hartsville High School with the class of 1991. She continued her education by attending both the Midlands Technical College of Columbia and Florence-Darlington Technical College. She was employed at Winn-Dixie of Hartsville and later at Circuit City of Florence. "Tee" was a very proud and strong individual who loved people and seemed to always meet everyone with a smile.
Survivors include her parents, David Washington and Delphira Fountain Washington, both of Hartsville; a son, D'Anthony Washington of Hartsville; a sister, Katrina Aileen Washington of Charlotte, N.C.; paternal grandmother, Wilhelmenia Washington of Hartsville; and maternal grandmother, Naomi Stevenson of Hartsville.

JACKIE DIXON
PATRICK – Funeral services for Jackie Jones Dixon, 39, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Frankie Tanner officiated with burial in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Pee Dee.
Ms. Dixon died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Simpson Gay and Alice Winburn Jones. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Robbie Dixon of Cheraw; sons, Marcus Dixon of Patrick, Tray Dixon of Cheraw; daughter, Jessica Dixon of Cheraw; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Roy and Roberta Jones, Donnie Gay and Lisa Jones, all of Hartsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Alice Dixon, Nora Ellen Atkinson, Gail and Roland O'Neal, Rita Faye Johnson and James Hall, all of Hartsville, and Carolyn and Jeff Cassidy of Ruby. She was predeceased by her brother, J. W. Jones.

MARIE BEST
LAMAR – Services for Marie Best will be held at 1 p.m. today, Nov. 7, 2001, at John Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home, Inc. of Lamar.
Mrs. Best died Friday, Nov. 2, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Walter and Rosanna Gee Sansbury. She was educated in the public schools and was married early in life to the late Lester Best. She worked domestic work most of her working life. She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church and a member of its United Methodist Women.
Survivors are a son, Walter Sansbury of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, Fred Sansbury of Darlington; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

ANTA MARIA DURANT
FLORENCE – Services for Anta Maria "Ria" Blandshaw Durant will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 7, 2001, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Bluff United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Hines Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, Bessie Blandshaw of 781 Dampier Road, Lamar. Wake services were held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Gilbert Hines Memorial Chapel.
Anta Maria Durant died Saturday, Nov. 3, in McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. She was born in Lee County, a daughter of Otis Bevel and Bessie Blandshaw. She was educated in the public schools, graduating from Bishopville High, class of 1978. She continued her education at Benedict College of Columbia, graduating with the class of 1984 with a major in business administration. She worked for the Department of Corrections for the past 12 years as an administrative assistant first at CCI in Columbia and later at the Lee County Correctional Facility in Bishopville. She was married to Israel Durant Jr.
Survivors are her husband, Israel Durant Jr. of Florence; daughter, Arial Durant of Florence; her parents, Otis Bevel of Hartsville and Bessie Blandshaw of Lamar; four step-sons, Keshawn Durant of Greenville, Darian Durant of Chapel Hill, N.C., David Durant of Cheraw, and Justin Durant of Florence; four sisters, Yvonne Blandshaw of Bishopville and Shirley Blandshaw of Columbia, Gloria Vanbrakle of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Yolanda Bevel of Atlanta, Ga.; and one brother, Otis Thomas Bevel of Norfolk, Va.

JOE L. WALKER
LAMAR – Services for Joe Louis Walker Sr. will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at John Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles K. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery with professional services entrusted to Hines Funeral Home of Lamar.
Mr. Walker died Saturday, Nov. 3, at MUSC in Charleston. He was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County in Sumerton, S.C. He was married on Nov. 28, 1959, to Wilber Damon and this union was blessed with four children. He was employed with Vul-Craft of Florence, where he worked for more than 20 years before his retirement. Mr. Walker was raised in a Christian home and was first a member of the Historical Liberty Hill of Sumerton. After relocating to Lamar, he joined John Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilber Damon Walker of the home; two daughters, Kathy (Edward) Johnson-Walker and Pamela (Elijah) Hicks, both of Lamar; two sons, Elder Joe (Colathia) Walker Jr. of Copperas Cove, Texas and DeQuincey (Jacqueline) Walker of Lamar; five sisters, Eliza Booker, Laurie (Dewey) Damon and Shirley Poindexter, all of New York, N.Y.; one brother, Charlie (Judy) Walker Sr. of New York, N.Y.
