CAMDEN, N.J. – Malcom L. Blakney, formerly of Hartsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2001, in a New Jersey hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Hines Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Mrs. Berthel B. Williams of 919 "C" Street.
JOHNNY TOLSON
PATRICK – Services for Johnny Burgan Tolson, 52, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Brown Springs Baptist Church. The Revs. Ed Griggs and Donnie Faulkenbury will affiliate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Brown Springs Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mr. Tolson, husband of Fleshia Edge Tolson, died Monday, Nov. 12. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of Lucille Tolson Andrews and the late James Arthur Tolson. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a construction worker.
Surviving are his wife of Sylvester, Ga.; sons, James Ashley Tolson of Cheraw, Brandon Ashley Tolson of Sylvester, Ga.; brother, Alvin Tolson of Patrick; sisters, Betty Jean Billington of Bridge City, Texas, and Christine Huggins of Hartsville. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marlene Tolson, and a sister, Elizabeth Sowell.
MARION L. MUNN SR.
DARLINGTON – Services for Marion Ludy Munn Sr., 71, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 16, 2001, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Darlington Memory Gardens.
Mr. Munn was born
in Darlington County, the son of the late Wallace and Bell Register Munn. He was married
to the late Clara Faye Weatherford Munn and was a former employee of Thornell Oil Company. Mr. Munn also served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of Northgate Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Marion L. Munn Jr. of Hartsville and Melvin W. Munn of Camden; a daughter, Clara Hallman of Hartsville; a step-daughter, Nancy Lee of Florence; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Blackwell of Lamar and Fannie Bell Sports of Darlington; and seven brothers, Neil Munn of Mississippi, Ralph Munn of Scranton, James Munn and Willard Munn, both of Hartsville, Bill Munn of Darlington, Carl Munn of Dovesville and Franklin Munn of Oates.
THELMA WOODLE
DARLINGTON – Services for Thelma Watford Woodle, 91, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home with interment following in Sparrow Swamp Cemetery, Timmonsville.
Mrs. Woodle died Thursday, Nov. 15, at home. She was born
in Lamar, the daughter of the late George and Geneva Windham Watford. She was married
to the late Pressley Woodle. She was a housewife and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are four sons, Johnny Woodle of Jacksonville, Fla., Julian Woodle, Preston Woodle, both of Darlington, and Ronald Woodle of Florence; four daughters, Nobie W. McElveen, Margaret W. Matthews, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Helen W. Warr of Darlington and Thelma Ann W. Williams of Michigan; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Woodle was preceded in death by two sons, Randolph and Odell Woodle.
The family will receive friends this evening, Friday, from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

LEROY M. PETERSON
Services for Leroy Morris Peterson, 43, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, in Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. Peterson died Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Logan County Hospital, West Virginia, after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County, a son of Bobby William Peterson and Beatrice Hickmon, both of Hartsville.
Surviving, other than his mother and father are his wife, Betty Rosser Peterson; his step-mother, Betty (Thomas) Peterson of Hartsville; two sons, Larry Peterson Jr. and Marcus Peterson, both of North Carolina; four sisters, Earnestine (Timothy) Bishop, Barbara Peterson, Sylvia Poindexter, all of Hartsville, and Kim (James) Johnson of Covington, Ga.; three brothers, T. Arthur Peterson, Jackie (Cheryl) Thomas Ford, both of Hartsville, and Olan Jackson of Virginia; four aunts, Carolyn Myers, Cecilia Boone, Louise Mitchell and Elizabeth Robinson, all of Hartsville; seven uncles, Brooks Peterson, Leslie (Martha) Peterson, James (Christi) Peterson, Carl (Ophelia) Peterson, Joseph (Linda) Peterson and Jerry Lee (Angelia) Peterson, all of Hartsville, and Michael (Lou Ella) Peterson of Rochester, N.Y.; and a host of nieces and nephews and other close relatives and friends.
MARY K. WILSON
Services for Mary King Wilson, 80, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Clyde Church of God. The Revs. Don Childers and Herbert Wells will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilson died Wednesday, Nov. 14. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse H. and Sarah Dixon King.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis (Annie) Wilson of Hartsville, Larry Wilson and companion Luvina Stevens of Cassett; daughters and son-in-law, Helen and Jimmy Lloyd of Darlington, Doris Gainey of McBee; brother, Clayton H. "Buck" King of Hartsville; sisters, Annie Sanders of Hartsville, Paulene Boan of Bishopville, Janice Hall of Blythwood; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Services for Ida Maie Gainey Brady, 92, formerly of Raleigh and Benson, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at St. John's Baptist Church, 1615 Oberlin Rd., Raleigh, N.C., with burial at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, St. Mary's Street, today, Nov. 28, from 7 to 9 p.m., and other times at the home of Della and Wiley Warren, 4901 Long Point Court, Raleigh, N.C. 27604.

Mrs. Brady died Monday, Nov. 26, at WakeMed Fuquay. She was born
in Hartsville in 1909 and was the daughter of the late Jesse Coyt and Irene James Gainey of Hartsville. She worked for Dr. J. Dan Royster in Benson for many years and later for Beltone Hearing Aid Center in Raleigh. She was predeceased by her husband, Glenn Brady of Benson, N.C.
Surviving are two daughters, Lois Brady Thomas of Kitty Hawk, N.C., and Della Brady Warren and her husband, Wiley, of Raleigh; eight grandchildren, A. Eugene (Lori) Thomas Jr. of Fredricksburg, Va., Melissa Thomas (Bill) Hedrick of Raleigh, N.C., Della Thomas (Turner) Wortham of Wilmington, N.C., Wade (Kyna) Thomas of Chesapeake, Va., Mitchell Thomas of Richmond, Va., Gregory Warren, Jeffrey (Kennetha) Warren and Michael (Heather) Warren, all of Raleigh; 12 great-grandchildren.
JAMES E. CARMONY
Services for James Edward Carmony, 41, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at the Hartsville Church of God. The Rev. Ronald L. Smalley will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mr. Carmony died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001. He was born
in Richland County, the son of the late John and Helen Smith Carmony.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Carmony; one brother, Danny Finley, and one uncle, Frank Smith, both of Hartsville.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Services for David Eugene Link will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 28, 2001, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis, N.C. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park, directed by Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Link died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at his residence. He was born
July 31, 1945 in Cabarrus County, N.C., and was the son of the late George Albert Link and Carrie White Link. He was an employee of Pillowtex in the weave room.
Survivors include four sisters, Dorothy L. Dixon of Hartsville, Sylvia L. Harrington, Delores L. Jenkins and Vannie L. Harrington, all of Kannapolis, N.C.; two brothers, George Link of China Grove, N.C., and Stanley E. Link of Kannapolis, N.C.

DARLINGTON – Services for James H. Boyd Jr., 71, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 28, 2001, in Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Darlington Memory Gardens directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd died Monday, Nov. 26, after an illness. He was born
in Washington, N.C., the son of the late James Henry and Leila Allen Boyd. He attended First Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and auto racing. Mr. Boyd was previously associated with APAC prior to starting his own company, which was Dixie Construction of Surfside Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Rogers Boyd of the home; one son, Curtis Boyd of Darlington; three daughters, Kathy (Wayne) Norris of Darlington, Patricia (Tony) Tilley of Reform, Ala., and Wanda (Ronnie) Sason of Gastonia, N.C.; two brothers, Bill Boyd of Wilmington, N.C., and John Boyd of Virginia; four sisters, Nancy Lancaster and Mary Frances, both of Wilmington, N.C., Doris Alligood of Bath, N.C. and Myrtle Turnage of Virginia; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

DOCK COTTON
DARLINGTON – Services for Dock Cotton, 75, were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, in Bethesda Baptist Church with Bishop James Williams officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. Cotton died Sunday, Nov. 18, at Wilson Medical Center after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County, a son of the late Ben and Annie Richardson Cotton. He received his education in Darlington County public schools and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Sims of Washington, D.C.; five sisters, Rosa Cotton, Almenta Sims, Helen Cotton, Josephine Cotton and Ellen Kennedy, all of Darlington; a special niece, Roas Brown of Darlington; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and other close relatives and friends.
