TALMADGE I. MORRIS
Services for Talmadge I. (Tim) Morris, 77, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jeri Parris Perkins officiating. Burial was in the Westview Memorial Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mr. Morris died Saturday, Nov. 24. He was born
in Williamsburg County, a son of the late Talmadge L. and Lettie Stewart Morris. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co., a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion and a veteran of WW II.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Snyder Morris of Hartsville; two sons, Tim and Steve Morris of Hartsville; daughter, Ann Ashron of Hartsville; two brothers, Bobby and Durant Morris of Sumter; two half-brothers, Van and Elvin Morris of Sumter; one half sister, Betty Jean Morrison of Goldsboro, N.C.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

REV. JOHN GAINEY SR.
Services for the Rev. John L. Gainey Sr., 80, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at Rivers of Living Water Church with the Revs. Tom Gainey and J. L. Dutton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Rev. Gainey died Friday, Nov. 23. He was born
in Chesterfield Co., a son of the late Dores and Hannah Gainey. He was a minister for 54 years, having served the congregation of Rivers of Living Water for the past 30 years. He was a veteran of WW II and a member of the Hartsville Chapter DAV 47.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Mae Rehrer Gainey of Hartsville; two daughters, Alice Fay Gainey and Ruby M. (Everett) Sauls, both of Hartsville; three sons, John L. (Sue) Gainey of Pleasanton, Calif., Bill (Slyvia) Gainey of Clements, Md., and the Rev. Tom (Martha) Gainey of Hartsville; a sister, Hazel Barefoot of Johnsonville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SONNY DIXON
Services for James S. "Sonny" Dixon, 67, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 28, 2001, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Greg Griffin and Rev. John Griggs will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Dixon died Monday, Nov. 26. Born in Chesterfield County, he was a son of the late John Wesley and Serena Gainey Dixon. He was retired from used cars.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Hoffman Dixon of Hartsville; brothers, George Dixon of Cassett and Wayne Dixon of McBee; sisters, Carrie D. Brewington of Cheraw and Annie D. Starling of Society Hill; several nieces and nephews.
JOSEPH JAMES SR.
Services for Joseph James Sr., 90, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 28, 2001, at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. James died Friday, Nov. 23, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born
in Lee County, a son of the late Toney and Carrie McCutchen James. He received his education in Lee County public schools. Mr. James was the father and Elder of his beloved Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church where he served for many, many years. He was a member of Myrtle Masonic Lodge #64 and Joint Stock Lodge #726. He was married
to the late Marvell Fox James.
Surviving are his devoted children, Raleigh James (Shirley) of Washington, D.C., the Rev. Joseph James Jr. (Betty) of Decatur, Ga., Annie Ruth Cain (Thomas), Josephine Hammond (Carsvell) and Marzell James, all of Philadelphia, Pa., Sarah Lois Ketter (Grant) of Darlington, Howard James of Philadelphia, Pa., Betty Ann McPhail (Roland) and Michael James, both of Hartsville, and Anthony James (Darnella) of Charlotte, N.C.; five sisters, Carrie Parrott of Queens, N.Y., Doretha Bristow of Hartsville, Rosa Toney of Wyndanch, N.Y., Bertha Hough and Oclevia James, both of Hartsville; 33 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
JUNIOUS JOHNSON
Services for Junious "Boot" Johnson, 83, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, in Harold L. & Dorothy J. Young Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson died Thursday, Nov. 22, in Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center after an illness. He was born
in Darlington County, a son of the late Wesley and Elizabeth McIver Johnson. He received his education in the public schools of Darlington County and was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are eight daughters, Mae Ella Kennedy and Sarah Frierson, both of Hartsville, Janic Myers, Joan Thompson, Hattie Myers, Tina Myers, Lou Doris Myers and Barbara McNeil, all of Durham, N.C.; three sons, Willie Johnson of Baltimore, Md., Robert Green and Charles Green, both of Durham, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Louise Johnson of Hartsville; and a brother-in-law, Henry Alford of Hartsville.
TIM GAINEY
PATRICK – Funeral services for Harold Timothy Gainey, 43, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Brown Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Donnie Faulkenbury and Joe Presnell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mr. Gainey died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of Ermine Segars Gainey and the late James Harold Gainey. Surviving are his mother of Patrick; daughter, Haley Gainey of Darlington; sisters, Bonnie Polson and Linda Broach, both of Patrick; nieces and nephews, Jerry Lundy, Adam Lundy, Jacob Polson, Brandy Cole, Kattie Cole and Waylon Brown.
HOWARD L. GANDY
Funeral services for Howard L. Gandy, 77, were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bob Cline officiating. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Florence-Darlington Technical College Scholarship Fund.
Mr. Gandy died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001. Born in Florence, he was a son of the late Howard Lafayette and Kathleen Fairey Gandy. He graduated from North Carolina State University and the Executive Program at the University of North Carolina. At the time of his retirement, he was Division Vice-President of Sonoco Products Company. He was a member, deacon and past Sunday school superintendent at First Baptist Church. He was a past chairman of the United Way, a member of the Byerly Hospital Board, a World War II veteran, and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He served on the Darlington County School Board and the Florence-Darlington County Commission for Technical Education.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Ingram Gandy of Hartsville; sons and daughter-in-law, Tom F. Gandy of Hartsville, and Charles and Becky Gandy of Irmo; brother, Al Gandy of Milledgeville, Ga.; and grandson, Michael Beatty.
NITA JEFFORDS
Funeral services for Juanita "Nita" Elmore Jeffords, 64, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at St. Luke United Methodist Church. The Revs. Ben and Dora Gafford will officiate with burial in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jeffords died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Weldon K. and Alice Harrell Elmore. She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and was employed with Sonoco. Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church of Hartsville, or St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Conway.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Julian T. and Leslie Jeffords III of Conway; daughter, Jennipher Jeffords of Hartsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary E. Jordan of Hartsville, Jo and Bert Tedder of Hartsville; three grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Pat Kelley.
STEPHEN F. LOVE
Services for Stephen Franklin Love, 33, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church on Swift Creek Road in Hartsville with the Rev. Alvin D. Rogers Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Bullock Funeral Home of Sumter. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening, Wednesday, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home and at other times at the parents' home on Hidden Creek Road. Mr. Love died Monday, Nov. 26, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence. He was born
in Hartsville, a son of Buddy and Tress Hopkins Love.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Hartsville are one son, Douglas Shave Love, and one daughter, Hayley Rose Love, both of Hartsville; one sister, Tammy Love (Matthew) Rogers of Hartsville; and one very special niece, Savanna Hope Rogers, also of Hartsville.
EDITH T. O'NEAL
Services for Edith Tyner O'Neal, 71, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at New Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Broadway and the Rev. Bill Stanley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mrs. O'Neal died Friday, Nov. 23. She was born
in Darlington County, a daughter of the late Archie Tyner Sr. and Marie Byrd Tyner. She was retired from Klopman Mills and was a member of New Providence Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Lonnie O'Neal of Hartsville; two daughters, Janice Witte and Katie O'Neal, both of Hartsville; two grandchildren, R. Christopher Stamey and L. Dennis Stamey, both of Hartsville; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazel Sansbury of Patrick, Macy Boone of Society Hill and Joyce Jones of Hartsville; two brothers, Everette Tyner and Archie Tyner Jr., both of Patrick. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Gainey.
