MALLARD BRADDOCK JR.
MURRELLS INLET – Services for Mallard "Roy" Braddock Jr., 45, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in the Kistler Chapel of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. Burial will follow in the Darlington Memory Gardens.
Mr. Braddock died Sunday, Dec. 2. He was born in Berlin, Germany, a son of Mallard and Virginia Boulware Braddock. He graduated from St. John's High School of Darlington in 1975. Mr. Braddock served as manager of several hotels around the country.
Survivors include his parents of Murrells Inlet; one sister, Marilyn (Wayne) Reeves of Warrenton, N.C.; and two nephews, Michael and Matthew Reeves of Warrenton, N.C.

CAROLYN S. GAINES
DARLINGTON – Services for Carolyn Sturgeon Gaines, 67, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, Dec. 5, 2001, in the Kistler Chapel of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery on Wire Road.
Mrs. Gaines died Sunday, Dec. 2, at her residence after an illness. She was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late James Hampton and Mary Alberta Miles Sturgeon. She retired from the Florence County School District. Mrs.Gaines was a member of the Vision Assembly Church. Pursuing a passion for writing, she wrote and produced a play, "Simon, He's Alive, " which was televised on TV13. She enjoyed going to yard sales. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Marsha Gaines.
Survivors include one son, Michael (Cindy) Gaines of Darlington; one brother, Lawrence Sturgeon of Norfolk, Va.; three sisters, Mary Wiggins of Florence and Ruth Ward and Libby Hurst, both of Sumter; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves Street, Florence, S.C. 29506.

GLENN K. LANE
DARLINGTON – Services for Glenn Keith "Rocky" Lane, 80, were held on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Darlington Memory Gardens.
Mr. Lane died Wednesday, Nov. 28, at his residence after an illness. He was born in Florence County, a son of the late Belton O'Neal and Annis Parnell Lane. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a charter member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. After 36 years of service, he retired from James River and enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Doris T. Lane of the home; one son, Glenn Belton (Kristina) Lane of Darlington; and one daughter, Anice (Richard) Etz of St. Louis, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29506.

WELDON CROSBY SR.
DARLINGTON – Graveside services for Stephen Weldon Crosby Sr., 91, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in Grove Hill Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Crosby died Sunday, Dec. 2, at his home. He was born in Darlington County, a son of Virgil and Alberta Bryant Crosby. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Dixie Cup and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Crosby was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Vance Hardin Sunday School Class and former deacon.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Kathryn Folsom Crosby of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Linda Crosby of Darlington; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Loyde Roberts of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren, Beth Odom, Michael Crosby, Brian Glock and Will Roberts; also three great-grandchildren; five nieces; one nephew and his caregiver, Rose Davis.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 East Cheves Street, Florence, SC 29501.

CHARLES L. HATFIELD
Funeral services for Charles L. "Bug" Hatfield, 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at New Market United Methodist Church. The Revs. Tommy Browne, Larry Brown, and Phillip Watry will officiate with burial in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. The Hartsville Chapter #47 of the D.A.V. will perform the graveside service. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 East Cheves St., Florence, SC 29501.
Mr. Hatfield died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Samuel Leo and Katie Mae Rodgers. He was a lifetime member of New Market United Methodist Church, was an auxiliary deputy sheriff for 12 years, member of Lake Robinson Fire and Rescue for 15 years and a member of Hartsville Masonic Lodge #173 for 13 years.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Boan Hatfield of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Terry E. and Doris Hatfield of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy H. and Richard Lawhon of Hartsville; grandchildren, Daniel (Alicia) Steen, Dixie (Josh) Yarbrough, Samual Hatfield, Cathy Ann Dixon; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Steen, Savannah Steen.

DONNA C. ANTHONY
Donna C. Anthony, 50, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001. Born in Wise, Va., she was a daughter of Joyce Cooley. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock, Va. She was a 1969 graduate of Central High in Woodstock, Va., and an administrative assistant for the Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office. Memorials may be made to Planned Parenthood. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home will announce funeral plans at a later date.
Surviving are her husband, David Anthony of Hartsville; daughter, Ryann Anthony of Alexandria, Va.; mother, of Woodstock, Va.; brothers, Charles Cooley of California, Md., and Jerry Cooley of Great Falls, Va.

J. ED WALLACE
Funeral services for James Edward Wallace, 66, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Green Hill Church of God. The Rev. Jerry Gainey will officiate with burial in New Market United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Mr. Wallace died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001. Born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Magelene Gainey Wallace. He was a member of Green Hill Church of God. He was employed at the Hartsville Cotton Mill for 20 years and was retired from Burlington Industries.
Surviving are his wife, Vera Hicks Wallace of Hartsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Phyllis Wallace, Ricky and Carolyn Wallace, Joe and Dawn Wallace, Carroll Hicks, all of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Phillip Howle of Hartsville; brothers, J. C. Wallace and Kenneth Wallace, both of Hartsville, Larry Wallace of Myrtle Beach, Gerry Griggs of Hartsville; sister, Brenda Barfield of Hartsville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Johnson.

MILDRED TUCKER
Mr. Mildred Tucker, 84, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001. Born in Sapulpa, Okla., she was a daughter of the late William and Sally Thomas Rose. She was a member of Gregg Avenue Church of Christ, Florence. Memorials may be made to In Search of the Lord's Way, Box 371, Edmond, OK 73083- 0371.
Funeral plans will be announced later by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
Surviving are her husband, Vernie Tucker of Hartsville; sons and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Wanda Tucker of Bethany, Okla., Robert and Barbara Tucker of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Willie Alcorn of Hartsville; brother, William Rose of Sapulpa, Okla.; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby Bush of Jonesboro, Ark., Doris and Kenny Lewis of Arkansas City, Kan.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

SUE STANZIONE
Mass of Christian burial for Sue Brugnoli Stanzione, 84, was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Father Karl Reosch, Celebrant. Final Commendation and farewell prayers were in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund, 363 N. Fifth Street, Hartsville, SC 29550.
Mrs. Stanzione, widow of Dante F. Stanzione, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001. Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Amaleo and Anna Barlese Brugnolia.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Dan Stanzione of Stewart, Fla., Robert and Kay Stanzione of Alpharetta, Ga., Jimmy Stanzione of Hartsville, Tommy and Keri Stanzione of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Susan Stanzione and Patricia Wilson of Glen Burnie, Md.; brother, Romeo Brugnolia of New York, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

IRENE W. AMERSON
LAMAR – Services for Irene Watford Amerson, 87, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Lamar First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Lamar Cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home Lamar Chapel.
Mrs. Amerson died Tuesday morning in a Florence hospital after an illness.
She was born in Darlington County, the daughter of the late Maxie and Ada Jordan Watford. She was married to the late Raymond F. Amerson for 59 years. Mrs. Amerson was a farm wife and was employed by Dixie Cup for a number of years. She was a lifetime member of Lamar First Baptist Church, as well as the Gracie Kempson Group and the Moonbeam Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Surviving are three daughters, Madeline (Max) Blount of Columbia, Myrtis (Willie) Hutchinson of Lamar and Emmie (Roy) Ham, also of Columbia; a sister, Lucille W. Amerson of Lamar; a daughter-in-law, Mary A. Amerson of Lamar; a step-son, Dwight (Nancy) Langston of Timmonsville; two grandsons, Raymond Lavan (Jeanie) Amerson of Lamar and Mackey Amerson also of Lamar; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Amerson was preceded in death by a son, Marvin J. Amerson, as well as three brothers, and three sisters.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
