Rebecca Z. Brown
ATLANTA -- Rebecca Zayas Brown, 43, died Jan. 5 at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
She was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a member of Stones of Faith Church of Christ of Atlanta.
SURVIVORS: her husband, Joseph Brown of Atlanta; three daughters, Lisa Zayas, Sereeta Brown and Tamika Brown, all of Atlanta; four sons, Joseph Brown III, Antonio Brown and Anthony Brown, all of Atlanta, and Robert DeJesus of Gray's Hill; her mother, Luz Alvarado Zayas of Brooklyn; three sisters, Precilla DeJesus, Zoraida DeJesus and Sonia Zayas, all of Brooklyn; three brothers, Samuel DeJesus, Reinaldo Zayas and Rasael Zayas, all of Brooklyn; five grandchildren and other relatives.
FUNERAL: noon Tuesday at Friendship Holiness Church, Stuart Point, S.C., burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn, on Friday.

Lanier Chumley
Lanier Chumley, 73, died Jan. 9 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
He was a native of Blue Diamond, Ky., and a longtime resident of Chatham County. He retired from the Army as a sergeant first class with service during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was owner and operator of Dixie Termite Pest Control.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Ann Chumley of Garden City; six sons, Joseph L., James L., Barry, Donald, Timothy and Todd Chumley, all of Savannah; a daughter, Rhonda Chumley of Savannah; four brothers, Ralph, George, Doug and Toy Chumley, all of Atlanta; four sisters, Ann Hearn, Estelle Fowler, Joyce and Ruby Chumley, all of Atlanta; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. today at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Massey Chapel in Garden City.
SERVICE: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Massey Chapel, burial in Hillcrest Abbey West.
Edna P. Cox
ALMA -- Edna Pinson Cox, 61, died Jan. 9 at home.
She was a native of Irwin County, a store clerk, a homemaker and a member of First New Congregational Methodist Church in Douglas.
SURVIVORS: her husband, Jolly E. Cox of Nicholls; six children, Glenda Meeks of Nicholls, Lynn Martin of Beaufort, Rebecca Hollis of Nicholls, Ricky Pinson and Talmadge Pinson, both of Nichols, and Jolly E. Cox Jr. of North Carolina; three brothers, Talmadge Greer of Waycross, William Greer and Earl Greer, both of Nichols; two sisters, Gladys Hersey of Cherry Hill, N.C., and Zelma Windsor of Jonesboro; and seven grandchildren.
VISITATION: 6-9 p.m. today.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Wednesday at First New Congregational Methodist Church, burial in Moore Cemetery.

Eugene T. DeLoach
GLENNVILLE -- Eugene T. DeLoach, 66, died Jan. 8 at home.
He was a native of Tattnall County and lived in Savannah for 42 years before moving back to Glennville in 1995. He retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections as chief of security and was named Officer of the Year in 1980.
He worked for Stephens Tire Co. for 18 years and the Tattnall County Board of Education as a school bus driver the past three years. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Mary F. DeLoach of Glennville; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Warren Baxter of Savannah; two stepdaughters, Linda Hendrix of Savannah and Rita Gottwald of Richmond, Va.; two stepsons, Harry R. Dixon of Mechanics, Va., and James R. Dixon of Highland Springs, Va.; two brothers, retired Command Sgt. Maj. Jessie P. DeLoach of Savannah and Frank DeLoach of Sebastian, Fla.; two sisters, Janie Ruth Kirkland of Savannah and Mary Blanch DeLoach of Yulee, Fla.; a granddaughter, eight stepgrandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Eunice M. Rogers
GLENNVILLE -- Eunice M. Rogers, 69, died Jan. 8 at home.
She was a native of Tattnall County and lived most of her life in Baltimore before moving back to Glennville in 1982. She was a nurse and retired from Glenvue Nursing Home in 1998. She was the widow of Samual French Rogers.
SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald G. Rogers Sr. and Diane Rogers of Reidsville; a brother, Fred Wesley Merritt of Richmond Hill; two sisters, Doris Rush of Reidsville and Eloise Floyd of Pembroke; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ronald G. Rogers Jr. and Kim Rogers of Albany; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2 p.m. today at Carter Funeral Chapel, burial in Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.

William R. Strickland
NAHUNTA -- William Robert "Bob" Strickland, 75, died Jan. 9 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick.
He was a native of Brantley County and a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church.
He was a retired educator. He taught in Ware County for five years, in the Brantley County school system for 25 years, spent six years as principal at Hortense Grammar School and from 1963-1980 was principal at both Nahunta Grammar School and Nahunta Elementary School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
SURVIVORS: several cousins, aunts and uncles.
VISITATION: tonight at Chambless Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nahunta First Baptist Church, burial in New Hope Cemetery.
Sarah C. Thompson
VIDALIA -- Mrs. Sarah Clifton Thompson, 83, died Jan. 9 at Meadows Regional Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County. She and her late husband, William Thompson, were owners of Thompson's Farm Supply, Thompson's Milling Co. and Thompson's Dairy.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia. She was a founding member of Toombs County United Charities and Vidalia Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was presented in 1973 the Lady of the Year award and was also recipient of the Golden Deeds Award. She was a past president of the Elks Club Ladies Auxiliary and Parents Teacher Association for Vidalia City Schools. She worked with various programs with the Vidalia Recreational Department and was an organizing member of the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration.
SURVIVORS: three sons and two daughters-in-law, William B. Thompson Jr. and Shirley Carroll Thompson, Roderick Paul and Ann Thompson, and Hugh C. Thompson, all of Vidalia; a sister, Mary Clifton Sapp of Kenner, La.; a brother, Roderick M. Clifton of Lyons; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. McTier
ATLANTA -- The Rev. Roy "Brother Roy" McTier Sr., 100, died Jan. 9 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
He was the oldest ministerial member of the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was born in Avera. He was educated in the public schools of Jefferson County. In 1917, he entered Sparks Institute.
After working several years in the Brunswick shipyards, he attended Asbury College in Kentucky and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1925. He also attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He was a pastor of numerous churches in Georgia.
SURVIVORS: two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Virginia Parramore McTier of Valdosta, and Charles and Marcy McTier of Atlanta; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: 6-8 p.m. today at Johnson-Grier Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Louisville First Methodist Church, burial in Waldens Church Cemetery.
