James O. Patterson
GARNETT, S.C. -- James O'Bannon Patterson, 84, died Jan. 10 at Hampton Regional Medical Center. He was born in Pineland and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Staffords Masonic Lodge and St. John's United Methodist Church in Garnett.
SURVIVORS: two sons, J.O. Patterson Jr. of Garnett and John H. Patterson of Springfield, Ga.; a daughter, Elizabeth Loadholt of Mount Pleasant; a sister, Catherine Hunt of Garnett; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Miriam C. Ramsay
WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Miriam Canaday Ramsay, 95, died Jan. 9 at the Episcopal Home at Still Hopes. She was born in Bayboro, N.C., and was a graduate of New Hanover High School in Wilmington, N.C., and East Carolina Teacher's College in Greenville, N.C. She was active in local and state PTA and was chairman of District 5 PTA for five years. She was a founding member of St. George Episcopal Church in Statesboro, Ga., and Christ Episcopal Church in Denmark, S.C., and was president of E.C.W., 1974-1976, was on the Altar Guild, a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher and on the Diocesan Board for five years. She helped organize the Denmark Garden Club and was its president. She was a member of Ikebana Society and an accredited state flower club judge. She was also active with the Cancer Society, Polio Society, Crippled Children's Society and Sixty Plus Club.
SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest C. and Barbara G. Ramsay of Norcross; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn F. Ramsay Grady and Ed L. Grady of Columbia; three granddaughters, Lydia Katherine Ramsay of New York City, Mrs. Neil G. Poland of Johnson City, Tenn., and Caroline R. Hattrich of Columbia; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Stephen C. and Melissa J. Hatrrich of Columbia; and four great-grandchildren.

Edward J. Timberlake III
HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Edward Julius "Ted" Timberlake III, 63, died Jan. 9 at Hilton Head Medical Center and Clinics of cancer. He was born in San Antonio and attended Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Va., to prepare for the United States Military Academy. He graduated from West Point in 1958, following in the tradition of his grandfather, father and three uncles. He served in the Air Force for 26 years. He flew troop carrier missions from Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina and from 1962 to 1968 chalked up a lot of time flying C-123s and C-130s in Vietnam. During a break in the action he earned a master's degree in engineering from Syracuse University. After Vietnam, he became a research and development officer, working to develop the Minuteman III and MX ICBM and in advance development for anti-ballistic missiles systems. His active duty culminated with six years in the office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel in 1983. He then accepted engineering management positions within the aerospace industry, where for 10 years he was closely associated with the President Ronald Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Sarah Elgin Timberlake of Hilton Head Island; two sons, Edward J. Timberlake IV and Christopher E. Timberlake; two daughters-in-law, Mary Gael Daugherty Timberlake and Roxanne Trombley Timberlake; and four grandchildren, Emily Gael, Jena Elizabeth, Edward Julius V and Elias Joshua.

Robert L. Yalledy Sr.
HINESVILLE -- Robert Lee Yalledy Sr., 55, died Jan. 7 at Liberty Regional Medical Center. He was born in Charleston and was a truck driver. He attended Agape Christian Fellowship Church.
SURVIVORS: a daughter, Kimberly L. Vereen of Fort Hood, Texas; three sons, Vincent E. Austin, Robert Lee Yalledy Jr. and Gabriel L. Yalledy, all of Hinesville; four sisters, Savannah Tanker, Geneva Barnwell, Gloria Gailliard and Margaret Muldrew, all of South Carolina; two brothers, Franklin Yalledy of Miami and Willie Gibbs of South Carolina; and seven grandchildren.

Frankie Duncan
CLYO -- Frankie Duncan, 92, died. She was born and educated in Effingham County. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Holiness Church in Clyo, served as state mother and was an active missionary.
SURVIVORS: a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Duncan Sr. and Vivian Duncan of Clyo; a daughter, JoAnn Duncan of York, Pa.; four adopted daughters, Ann Smart of Clyo, Robbie Lee Atkins of Sylvania, Lucille Hills of New York and Elizabeth Bullard of Savannah; two adopted sons, Jessie Reddy of Savannah and Robert Pinkney of Springfield; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

J. Wallace Aggett
John Wallace Aggett, 82, died Jan. 11 at Hospice Savannah. He was born in the Provence of Ontario and educated in Toronto, Canada. He came to the United States as an underwriter for the Home Insurance Co. of New York. He was an Army Infantry officer during World War II, serving in Japan and the Philippines. He retired from Atlantic Mutual Fire Insurance Co. in 1983 as executive vice president. He was a past commodore of Savannah Yacht Club, a former member of Savannah International Airport Commission, a past chairman of North American Airport Council International, a past president and life member of Georgia 1752 Club and an honorary member of International Lightning Class Sailing Association. He was the widower of Dorothy Frances Aggett.
SURVIVORS: a daughter, Frances Wallace Woodward of Savannah; two grandchildren, Wallace Erwin Woodward and Laura Frances Woodward, both of Savannah; a nephew, retired Navy Rear Adm. George H. Strohsahl of Kent, Wash.; and a niece, Donna Aggett Cullen of Scarborough, Canada.

Mrs. Mary Ann Gray Brisbin, 54, died Jan. 10 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was born in Miller County and moved to Savannah in 1985 from Germany. She attended Dean Forest Baptist Church.

HAMPTON, S.C. -- Mrs. Ruth Mary Browmer, 81, died Jan. 10 at Medical University Hospital in Charleston. She was born in Hampton County and was a member of Blunt Chapel CME Church in Varnville and Refuge Temple Church in New York City. She attended schools in Varnville, Savannah and Philadelphia and was employed by Revlon Cosmetics, New York.

BAXLEY -- The Rev. Dorris Black, 86, died Jan 10 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Appling County and a member of Red Oak Baptist Church. He was pastor of Red Oak for 36 years of his 49 years of serving as a pastor. He also served Oakview, Pleasant Grove, Miles Chapel and Zoar Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Bonnie M. Black of Baxley; three sons, Eddie Black of Orange Park, Fla., David Black of Baxley and Dewayne Black of Ponca City, Okla.; seven daughters, Evelyn Turner of Alma, Jean Orvin, Judy Lynch, Elaine Black and Ellen Black, all of Baxley, and Brenda Nail and Betty Taylor, both of Waycross; two brothers, Ernest Black of Waycross and Robert Black of Brooklet; a sister, Ruth Cravey of Waycross; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

GLENNVILLE -- Mrs. Ada Lura Clary, 86, died Jan. 10 at home in Baltimore. She was a native of Tattnall County and lived in Maryland the past 14 years. She was the widow of Curtis Eugene Clary of Glennville. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church in Baltimore.

AUGUSTA -- John Johnson Jr., 70, died Jan. 9 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born in Bulloch County and lived in Augusta the past 42 years. He served 32 years in the Army and was a retired master sergeant. He was a member of Macedonia Church in Augusta.

Mary P. Pickren
ST. SIMONS ISLAND -- Mary Lula Peagler Pickren, 66, died Jan. 11 at home. She was born in Homerville and lived on St. Simons Island since 1962. She was a member of St. Simons United Methodist Church and served in the Chancel Choir and on the long-range planning committee. She was an honor graduate of Georgia Teachers College and retired from the teaching profession after mostly the fourth grade at Altama Elementary School in Brunswick.
SURVIVORS: her husband, Buzzy Pickren of St. Simons Island; a daughter, Laurie Dunwoody of Kissimmee, Fla.; two sons, Tom Pickren of St. Simons Island and Jim Pickren of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, George Peagler Jr. and Hal Peagler, both of Homerville; a sister, Ann Gallagher of Torrance, Calif.; and four granddaughters, Danna and Brooke Dunwoody, both of Kissimmee, and Elizabeth and Jenny Pickren, both of Memphis.

ESTILL, S.C. -- Charlie Winn, 83, died Jan. 11 at Medical University Hospital in Charleston. He was born in Hampton County. He was a retired farmer and operated Winn's Grocery Store in Nixville since 1963. He was the widower of Eunice Winn and was a member of Nixville Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: three sons, Bernard and Charlie E. Winn, both of Hampton, and Henry Winn of Beaufort; a daughter, Voncil Cooke of Cummings; a brother, John Franklin Winn of Ehrhardt; a sister, Myrtis Cope of Varnville; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

GLENNVILLE -- Mrs. Ellen Mobley, 104, died Jan. 11 at Sunbridge Health Care Center in Reidsville. She was born in Tattnall County and lived in Glennville all of her life. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Tyson, a domestic worker and a homemaker.
SURVIVORS: a sister-in-law, Janie Ruth Carter of Reidsville; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Clara M. Heyward
Mrs. Clara M. Heyward, 90, died Jan. 10 at Candler Hospital. She was a native of Quincy, Fla., and lived in Savannah for many years. She was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Senior Usher Board. She retired as a cook for the Chatham County Board of Public Education.
SURVIVORS: two daughters, Shari Baker of Atlanta and Cathy Redding of Savannah; two sons, Christopher Franklin of Savannah and Kenon Franklin of Atlanta; a godson, Anthony Edwards of Savannah; several nieces and nephews, including Ethel Wilson of Savannah, Isaac Franklin of Atlanta and Gus Franklin of Apple Valley, Calif.; nine grandchildren and several cousins.

CARROLLTON -- Joe Nathan Bryant, 36, died Jan. 9. He was born in Liberty County. He was a worker and a member of Sunbury Missionary Baptist Church in Midway.

Marybell N. Cray
BAXLEY -- Mrs. Marybell Norwood Cray, 91, died Jan. 8 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Brunswick. She was born in Dodge County and attended high school and training school in Appling County. She was a retired midwife. She was a member of Rachel Missionary Baptist Church in Baxley, a Sunday school teacher and youth director. She was also involved in civic organizations.
SURVIVORS: four daughters, Rose C. Jones and Etha M. Cray, both of Baxley, and Ella L. Srizarry and Avelena Arline, both of Miami; a son, Edward Cray of Baxley; 38 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, 50 great-great-grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
